— मार्क्स का अत्यंत प्रसिद्द कथन है कि अभी तक दार्शनिकों ने दुनिया की व्याख्या की थी, लेकिन सवाल दुनिया को बदलने का है. बदलने का अर्थ तकनीकी विकास (विचारगत/विकास गत और आधुनिकीकरण के सन्दर्भ )से लिया जाये या सामाजिक क्रांति से? जहां तक सामाजिक (बदलाव) क्रांति का प्रश्न है इस दौर में या कहें परिवर्तन की प्रक्रिया के तहत अन्यान्य वैचारिक/प्रायोगिक पहलों के साथ साहित्य व कलाओं की सार्थक भागीदारी भी गौरतलब है ,इसे नकारा नहीं जा सकता, क्यूँकि कमोबेश सभी कलाओं में तत्कालीन समय से संवाद करने की अद्भुत क्षमता देखी जा सकती है! इस सन्दर्भ में महान चित्रकार सैयद हैदर रजा का ज़िक्र करना संभवतः तर्कसंगत होगा! रजा हिन्दुस्तान के एकमात्र मूर्धन्य चित्रकार हैं जिन्होंने अपने चित्रों में कविताओं का निरंतर इस्तेमाल किया है! रजा ने मुक्तिबोध की कविता से एक चित्र ‘’तम शून्य’’ शीर्षक से बनाया, जिस पर अंकित शब्द थे ‘’इस तम शून्य में तैरती है जगत समीक्षा ‘’! रेनर मारिया रिल्के कि कविता को उसके फ्रेंच अनुवाद में (गौरतलब है कि रजा फ़्रांस में ही बस गए थे )के चित्र का शीर्षक था ‘’दूर से आती मौन की आवाज़ सुनो’’! यदि संदर्भित परिप्रेक्ष्य में नाट्य प्रासंगिकता की बात की जाये तो , नाटक में पात्रों के माध्यम से संप्रेषित किये जाने वाले संवादों, कथ्य और दर्शकों की संवेदनाओं विचारों के साथ एक प्रत्यक्ष साम्य स्थापित होता है! इस प्रत्यक्ष /अप्रत्यक्ष वार्तालाप में उन दौनों के मध्य , एक वैचारिक पुल निर्मित होता है! नुक्कड़ नाटकों में ये सम्वाद्शीलता और सम्प्रेषण क्रिया अपेक्षाकृत और घनीभूत हो जाती है! गौरतलब है कि किसी भी कला के दो मुख्य प्रयोजन हो सकते हैं- एक, शुद्ध मनोरंजन और दूसरा वैचारिक जागरूकता ,लोक क्रांति सघन संवेदनात्मकता जहाँ कलम को हथियार बन जाना होता है ! ..उल्लेखनीय है देश कि आजादी के पूर्व कुछ कविताओं/गीतों का प्रयोग जन जागृति और जोश की भावना भरने के मकसद से ही किया गया था मसलन बिस्मिल की ये कविता ‘’यों खड़ा मकतल में कातिल कह रहा है बार बार ,क्या तमन्ना-ए-शहादत ,भी किसी के दिल में है! इसके अतिरिक्त कुव्यवस्थाओं, अराजकता आदि के खिलाफ भी कवियों लेखकों नाटककारों ने कला के माध्यम से समय २ पर अपना रोष दर्ज किया ! सफ़दर हाशमी की कविता…‘’देवराला कि छाती से धुंआ अभी तक उठता है ,रूप कुंवर की चीत्कार को ,आज भी भारत सुनता है. ’’
कुछ ऐसे बहुमुखी प्रतिभा संपन्न व्यक्तित्व हैं जो लेखक ,अभिनेता ,निर्देशक क्रिटिक सब हैं, सुविख्यात अभिनेता श्री उत्पल दत्त उन्हीं में से एक हैं ! उन्होंने कई नाटक लिखे और मंचित किये जिनमे स्त्री की दुर्दशा (टीनेर तलवार), मौजूदा व्यवस्था (तत्कालीन) पर कटाक्ष, बहुत बारीक मगर तीखे संवादों के ज़रिये गढे गए हैं! उनके नाटक ज्यादातर बँगला में थे ‘’ rights of man(manusher adhikare ), Towards a Revolutionary Theatre, छायानट ,टीनेर तलवार ,’’व्हाट इज टू बी डन’’(आख्यान ). जहाँ तक नुक्कड़ नाटकों के उद्भव (ज़रूरत) का प्रश्न है, ये नाटक उस आम जनता के लिए हैं जो टिकट खरीद कर नाटक नहीं देख पाते! दरअसल हिदी क्षेत्र बहुत बड़ा है! शौकिया रंगमंच का विस्तार हो रहा है! पर वो अपने आप को संकटग्रस्त पाता है. वजह.?…उसे कम खर्च और सशक्त कथ्य के ताज़े नाटक चाहिए पर कहाँ हैं नाटककार? नतीज़तन नुक्कड़ नाटक इस लिहाज़ से उसके लिए अधिक सुलभ हैं. बल्कि इनका उद्देश्य ही है किसी सभाग्रह के व्यवस्थित मंच के बिना सीधे ,‘’आम’’जनता से जुडना,उनकी समस्याओं से सरोकार जैसे अभाव, मंहगाई, बढतीहुई जनसंख्या ,प्रशासनिक और राजनीतिक भ्रष्टाचार, प्रदूषण आदि …जन जीवन से जुडी समस्याओं से रु-ब-रु कराना !!कहानी के बारे में कहा जाता है कि कहानी जीवन को बयान तो करती है पर वो जीवन नहीं हो सकती’’, पर नाटक उसे एक मंच एक जीवन देता है उसके समानांतर एक प्रश्न व विचार प्रत्यक्षतः प्रस्तुत करता है. नाइजीरियाई लेखक चिनुआ अचीबे ने लिखा है ‘’जब हम किसी कहानी को पढते हैं,तो हम केवल उसकी घटनाओं के द्रष्टा ही नहीं बनते, बल्कि उस कहानी के पात्रों के साथ हम तकलीफों में भी साझा करते हैं.” यही मर्म इतनी ही शिद्दत और गंभीरता से नाटक में भी अपेक्षित और ज़रूरी रहता है. एक सफल नाटक की यही वास्तविकता भी है. नाटक ज़िंदगी को देखना, उसे ज़ज्ब करना और कहानी प्रस्तुत करते सम्पूर्ण सम्वेद्नओं और सच्चाइयों- अनुभूतियों के साथ उसे दर्शकों के समक्ष पेश करना. हर बड़े सर्जक को पुराने ढांचे को तोड़कर नया बनाना होता है ! नई संभावनाएं टटोलनी होती है. यूँ तो नाटक विधा का प्रारंभ भरत मुनि द्वारा लिखित ‘’नाट्यशास्त्र ‘’(लगभग ४५०० वर्ष पूर्व)माना जाता है!.इसमें नाटक के सभी रूपों यथा पार्श्व संगीत, मंच संयोजन, वेश-भूषा,कथ्य आदि का विस्तृत वर्णन मिलता है! तत्पश्चात, इसे ठोस रूप से (प्रयोगात्मक तौर पर )क्रियान्वित करने का श्रेय जाता है भारतेंदु को. वे हिंदी रंगमंच के पिता कहे जाते हैं. प्रसिद्द आलोचक राम विलास शर्मा कहते हैं ‘’great literary awakening ushered in under Bhartendu leadership.’’ भारतेंदु कवि, लेखक, संपादक और नाटककार भी थे. उन्होंने ‘’भारत दुर्दशा’’,’’नीलदेवी’’, वैदिक हिंसा हिंसा न भवति’’ आदि लिखे, लेकिन अंधेर नगरी सबसे प्रसिद्द और लोकप्रिय नाटक है और आज भी अपनी प्रासंगिकता बरकरार रखे हुए है. यह हास्य के साथ २ एक राजनीतिक कटाक्ष भी है. इसे अनेक मूर्धन्य नाटककारों ने कई भाषाओँ में किया, जैसे, बी.वी.कारंथ,प्रसन्ना, अरविन्द गौड़ ,संजय उपाध्याय आदि. प्रसिद्द लेखक अमृतलाल नागर भारतेंदु के प्रशंसक थे. उन्होंने अनुवाद की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा ‘’’’मुद्राराक्षस करो, देखो,भारतेंदु ने उसका कितना अच्छा अनुवाद किया है, और क्यूँ किया है?’’ इसकी विशेषता बताते हुए वे कहते हैं ‘’सशक्त जटिल कथ्य, आधुनिक सन्दर्भ, राजनैतिक, सामाजिक सांस्कृतिक संघर्ष,नाट्यकला और भाषा सबका चरम बिंदु है यह और ‘सर्जनात्मक अनुवाद‘ है. आजादी के पूर्व रंगमंच को स्थापित करने और उसकी बारीकियों को आगामी पीढ़ी तक हस्तांतरित करने का अभूतपूर्व कार्य किया आगा हश्र कश्मीरी और पृथ्वीराज कपूर ने.” ‘’पठान’’ और ‘’दीवार’’ उनके प्रसिद्द नाटकों में से हैं.
साहित्य अकादमियों की स्थापना होने के बाद इस नाट्य आन्दोलन में ,जिस मूर्धन्य कलाकार का नाम लिया जा सकता है वो हैं , राष्ट्रीय नाट्य विद्ध्यालय के पूर्व निर्देशक इब्राहिम अलकाजी. नाट्य रंग के नए प्रयोगों एवं प्रतिभा को उन्होंने खुले ह्रदय से सराहा और प्रेरणा दी !इसी सन्दर्भ में … यद्यपि उन्होंने काफ्का के उपन्यास ‘’द ट्रायल’’ पर आधारित ‘’जोज़फ़ का मुकादमा’’, मैन विदाउट शेडोज़ ‘’(सार्त्र), और द फादर (इस्तिंद बर्ग) जैसी विश्व कृतियों का निर्देशन/रूपांतरण भी किया ,लेकिन मोहन महर्षि द्वारा विज्ञान पर लिखे गए नाटक ‘’आईन्स्ताइन’’को सबसे उल्लेखनीय माना. उन्होंने कहा ‘’लन्दन,न्यूयार्क या पेरिस में होने पर इसी नाटक को दुनिया की एक अहम घटना माना जाता.’’ वस्तुतः यह एक अद्वितीय नाटकों की श्रेणी में आता है. उल्लेखनीय है कि विज्ञान पर आधारित मोहन महर्षि के इस नाटक को मैंने देश के एक प्रसिद्द इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेज के छात्र-छात्राओं द्वरा निर्देशित/अभिनीत देखा है, उस नाटक का शिल्प कथ्य तो निस्संदेह उत्कृष्ट था, पर उन विद्यार्थियों का अभिनय इ
