आज मशहूर शायर शहरयार को अमिताभ बच्चन के हाथों ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार दिया जा रहा है. आइये उनकी कुछ ग़ज़लों का लुत्फ़ उठाते हैं. वैसे यह बात समझ नहीं आई कि अमिताभ बच्चन के हाथों ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार क्यों?- जानकी पुल.

ये कैसी अजनबी दस्तक थी कैसी आहट थी

ये दिल अजब है कि ग़म है इसे ज़माने का

जिसे था दावा मेरी प्यास को बुझाने का

उम्रे-सफर में कब सोचा था, मोड़ ये आयेगा।

पहले बहुत नादिम था लेकिन आज बहुत खुश हूँ।

तेरा लासानी होना तस्लीम किया जाए।

ख्वाबतही कुछ लोग यहाँ पहले भी आये थे।
नींद-सराय तेरा मुसाफिर पहला नहीं हूँ मैं।

इस काम के लिए अमिताभ बच्चन को बुलाना मुझे भी अजीब लगा।

शहरयार पूरे सब्र से बात करते हैं / उनका कहा,कँवल के पत्ते पर गिरी बूंद की तरह देर तक थिरकता है / वे घटा की तरह उमड़ कर नहीं आते / बेशतर शायरों की तरह / उठकर खिड़कियाँ बंद नहीं करनी पड़तीं के अन्दर के दरी,ग़लीचे भीग जायेंगे / बल्कि उठ कर खिड़की खोलो तो पता चलता है के बाहर बारिश हो रही है—
