हथेलियों को रगड़ते जमीन पे पड़ा पतझर टूटता थक चुके पैरों तले,
हरियाली धरती का नमक कुछ निकल पड़ता मुँह से खुद से कहते
अपने किसी कोने में सिमट जाता कोट को पसलियों में लपेट
ढीला होता जा रहा है हर साल यह उर्म के साथ,
मन में बज पड़ती आवाजों के ज्यूक बॉक्स से किसी प्रार्थना गीत की लहर,

सबको नहीं मिलता पानी फिर भी, मिलता भरम अनेक
आलसी भी लगते मेहनती और झूठे भी सच्चे
कुदरत यह कबड्डी खेल खूब करती है, भरमाती मनुष्य को
और परिंदे तारों पर टँगे रहे आसमा भूल गया
बादलों की बहक में, रास्ता किसी समुंदर की तलाश में
खिड़की खोल भी दूँ फिर भी अँधेरा झिझकता है चौखट पर
कोने किनारों में सिमटता बाहर की रोशनी से विगत ही देख पाता हूँ
धूल पर झाड़न फेरता
देता हूँ जबरन हौसला गिर कर खुद को उठाते
निपट लूँगा जिंदगी के रोड़ों से, ये टोकते नहीं याद दिलाते हैं दोस्ती का अकेलापन.
देखा मुखौटा किसका चेहरा हर कोस कतार में अपना नाम बताते हुए
चौबीस घंटे चालू सुर्खियों के डिब्बे में मेरा दोस्त
संकट की पुड़िया को दर्दनिवारक विज्ञापित करता

बदलती दिशाएँ रोशनी की
अपनी कील पर धूमती परिक्रमा अशेष
उपलब्धियों पर जमती धूल भी उपलब्धि कोई एक
मिली हुई चीज को खोने की कोशिश
लिखे शब्द को भूलने की आशा,
नकली को असली ना दिखा पाने का दुख
पहचान कर भी रोज़ उस अदृश्य ऐयार को.

जैसे वह धो रही हो हमारे दाग़ों को जो छूटते ही नहीं
बस बदरंग होते जा रहे हैं कमीज़ पर
जिसे पहनते हुए कई मौसम गुज़र चुके
जिनकी स्मृतियाँ भी मिट चुकी हैं दीवारों से
कि ना यह गरमी का मौसम
ना पतझर का ना ही यह सर्दियों का कोई दिन
कभी मैं अपने को ही पहचान कर भूल जाता हूँ,
शायद कोई रंग ही ना बचे किसी सदी में इतनी बारिश के बाद
यह कमीज़ तब पानी के रंग की होगी !
वर्षों बाद मोहन राणा जी की कविताएं पढ़ीं, धन्यवाद। बहुत पहले जब 'वसुधा' का कवितांक संपादित किया था तब मोहन जी की कुछ कविताएं प्रकाशित करते हुए खुशी हुई थी कि उन कविताओं में रंग, ध्वनि और अलग प्रकाश था। यहां भी ये कविताएं वैसी ही हैं लेकिन आखिरी कविता तो लाजवाब है। क्या कहूं।
Mohan Rana reaches the unknown or ¨forgotten¨(on his own words) to bring it forth here as common folks read and become poetry. To show to us what some call ¨mystery¨ under daily life light words. His poetry hints the directions from the space on no map. He points the bearings there, to the untraveled world here on the land of lines. मोहन राणा की कवितायेँ कॉलेज के दिनों से पढ़ती आ रही हूँ. हम एक ही कॉलेज में थे और कवितायेँ लिखते थे.उनकी उस समय की कविताओं में प्रकृति प्रधान थी.स्वभाव और चिंतन में वह तब भी एकांतप्रिय थे. इन कविताओं में अकेलापन और खुद से संवाद चलता रहता है. पीछे छूट गयी मातृभूमि की स्मृतियाँ स्वाभाविक चुप्पी और आसपास के माहौल से सम्प्रेषण न कर पाने की व्यथा को प्रकट करती हैं.मन में उमड़ते खालीपन का अहसास कराती एकदम मौलिक सोच और शिल्प की सशक्त कवितायेँ.
वास्तव में आपने जानकी पुल में पुल बनाकर ब्रिटेन में हिंदी कविता की अलख जगाये हुए मोहन राणा की कविताओं को शामिल कर बहुत अच्छा किया , इससे भारत के बाहर हिंदी में हो रहे लेखन को मंच मिला . चौधरी चरण सिंह विश्वविद्यालय भारत का पहला विश्वविद्यालय है जिसने प्रवासी हिंदी रचनाकारों के लेखन को आधार बनाकर २००८ से एम. ए. हिंदी के हिस्से के रूप में एक प्रश्नपत्र जोड़ा, मोहन राणा की कविताएँ वहां भी हैं . अब यह महसूस किया जा रहा है कि भारतीय भाषा हिंदी विश्व भाषा हिंदी भी तभी कहलायेगी जब दूसरी विश्व भाषा अंगरेजी की तर्ज पर हम उसके दुनियां भर में हिंदी के प्रयोग रूपों को आम लोगों और साहित्य के पाठकों के बीच इसी प्रकार आगे बढ़ाते रहेंगे . आखिर खड़ी बोली के प्रयोग रूप के साथ हम भारत की हिंदी बोलियों को भी पढ़ते हैं तो विश्व भर में हिंदी के प्रयोग रूपों पर और प्रयोग क्षेत्रों पर हमारे निगाह क्यों नहीं जानी चाहिए . आपके चयन और मोहन राणा के लेखन दोनों को बधाई ..
आज मोहन राणा की कवितायेँ पढ़ते हुए मुझे १९९९ में बुदापैश्त में आयोजित विश्व कविता समारोह में पढ़ी गयी उनकी कवितायेँ याद आ गयीं. वह एक यादगार समारोह था, जिसमें संसार की सभी प्रमुख भाषाओँ की कविताओं का अपनी मूल भाषा, अंग्रेजी, इटालियन और हंगेरियन में अनुवाद किया गया. (उस बार कविता समारोह का आयोजक इटली था) इसमें भाग लेने के लिए मोहन को ही इंग्लेंड से आना था, मगर वह नहीं आ पाए और उनकी कवितायेँ मैंने पढ़ीं. कविताओं का यह पाठ दूना नदी में एक जहाज (शिप) के अन्दर आयोजित हुआ. पूरे शहर में नदी के किनारे बड़े-बड़े स्पीकर लगे थे, जिनसे शहर के पार्कों में बैठे लोगों,राह चलते लोगों और घरेलू लोगों को कवितायेँ सुनाई दे रही थीं. मोहन की कविताओं का अनुवाद भी सभी भाषाओँ में किया गया था, हंगेरियन अनुवाद मरिया नेज्यैशी ने किया था. एक बूढी हंगेरियन औरत को तो 'बारिश में' कविता इतनी पसंद आई कि वह समारोह के अंत में भागकर मेरी दुभाषिया मरिया को बुला लायी और उसने मुझसे हिंदी कविता के बारे में अनेक जानकारियां लीं. उसका कहना था कि कविता के शब्दों की जो ध्वनियाँ उसके कानों में पढ़ रहीं थीं, वह इतनी आकर्षक थीं की भाषा न समझते हुए भी वह कविताओं का मर्म समझ सकती थीं. कुछ श्रोताओं ने हिंदी कविता की परंपरा के बारे में भी जानना चाहा. एक ने यह भी कहा कि वह हिंदी की रोमांटिक कविता का एक नमूना सुनना चाहती हैं. अन्य लोगों ने भी कवितायेँ पसंद कीं.
