जानकी पुल – A Bridge of World's Literature. जानकी पुल पर प्रकाशित लेखों में प्रकट विचार लेखक के होते हैं. उनसे मॉडरेटर का सहमत होना जरूरी नहीं है. हाँ, अपने लेखों में प्रकट विचारों के लिए मॉडरेटर खुद जिम्मेदार है
‘हमलोग’ अब उपन्यास के रूप में सामने आ रहा है। उसके एपिसोड्स तो ऑनलाइन भी नहीं मिलते। जानकार सचमुच रोमांच हुआ। दूरदर्शन का पहला धारावाहिक, जिसकी लोकप्रियता ने 1984-85 में टीवी को घर-घर पहुंचाने में बड़ा योगदान किया। यह भी उस दौर में अलग-अलग स्कूलों के अलग-अलग क्लासों में पढ़ने वाले बच्चों को याद होगा किस तरह उसके लेखक मनोहर श्याम जोशी का नाम घर घर स्थापित कर दिया था। उससे कुछ दिन पहले ही हम लोग घर में आने वाली पत्रिका में ‘नेताजी कहिन’ के व्यंग्य लेखक के रूप में पहचानने लगे थे। उसके बाद ये ‘हमलोग’।
देखते ही देखते उस धारावाहिक के बसेसर राम, भागवंती, बडकी, छुटकी, मँझली, लाजो घर-घर चर्चा में आने लगे थे। मोहल्लेदारी के उस दौर में इस धारावाहिक ने समाज को एक कहानी से जोड़ कर रख दिया था। आज टेलीविज़न धारावाहिकों की जैसी हालत हो गई है वैसे में इस बात के ऊपर विश्वास करना मुश्किल लगता है कि ‘हमलोग’ ने लोगों की दिनचर्या को निर्धारित करना शुरू कर दिया था। उस धारावाहिक के परिवार के सुख-दुख में सार देश शामिल रहने लगा था। टीवी के पहले ही सोप ओपेरा ने समाज में गहरी पकड़ स्थापित की।
कई मायने में हमलोग का महत्व है। एक तो यह कि भारतीय टेलीविज़न एक इस पहले धारावाहिक के केंद्र में निम्न मध्यवर्गीय परिवार की कथा कही गई थी जो बाद में ‘अपमार्केट’ के दौर में टेलीविज़न के पर्दे से धीरे धीरे गायब होती गई। दूसरे, हमलोग का नाम आते ही लोगों को पहले मनोहर श्याम जोशी का नाम याद आता है, उसके निर्देशक पी. कुमार वासुदेव का नाम बाद में ध्यान आता है। कहने का अर्थ यह है कि जोशी जी ने आरंभिक धारावाहिकों पर लेखकीय छाप छोड़ी। आज कौन सा धारावाहिक कौन लिखता है यह जानने की न जरूरत महसूस होती है न ही बताया जाता है। ‘हमलोग’ के साथ जिस विधा की शुरुआत लेखकीय घोषणापत्र के साथ हुई थी, आज उसी माध्यम की उसी विधा में लेखक का चेहरा पहचानविहीन हो गया है। ये हालात भी हमलोग की याद दिलाए हैं।
कहते हैं भारत सरकार का आइडिया यह था कि एक ऐसा धारावाहिक दिखाया जाये जिसके माध्यम से ‘छोटा परिवार सुखी परिवार’ के विचार को घर घर पहुंचाया जाये। वह विचार घर घर स्थापित हुआ या नहीं लेकिन धारावाहिक जरूर घर घर स्थापित हो गया। कई बार मुझे ऐसा भी लगता है कि ‘हमलोग’धारावाहिक जैसे ‘वी द पीपल’ की अवधारणा को केंद्र में रखकर लिखा गया था, तैयार किया गया था। उस आम आदमी को जो धीरे धीरे टेलीविज़न एक पर्दे से गायब होता चला गया है।
बहरहाल, मेरे लिए यह जानना बेहद रोमांचक है कि ‘हमलोग’ को उपन्यास का रूप भी मनोहर श्याम जोशी ने खुद दिया था। आखिर उन्होने उपन्यास में कथा को किस रूप में रखा होगा? क्या वही जो धारावाहिक में था? या उसके कुछ सूत्रों को लिखते हुए नए अर्थ दिये? ये सब सवाल हैं जिनके जवाब उपन्यास पढ़ने के बाद ही मिलेंगे। वैसे एक बात और है ऑनलाइन दौर में ‘हमलोग’ धारावाहिक तो कहीं न देखने के लिए उपलब्ध है न डाउनलोड करने के लिए, तो फिलहाल उपन्यास पढ़कर ही संतोष करते हैं। मैं तो कोशिश करूंगा कि 22 तारीख को जब उपन्यास रिलीज हो तो उसका पहला खरीदार मैं ही बनूँ।

अरे हाँ, यह भी बताना जरूरी है कि उपन्यास का प्रकाशन वाणी प्रकाशन ने किया है।
हम लोग बहुत पहले ही उपन्यास के रूप में आ चुका है. मेरे पास है यह किताब जो स्टार पॉकेट बुक्स ने 1985 में छापी थी. इसमें इस धारावाहिक के सौवें एपिसोड तक की कहानी है. रूपांतर मनोहर श्याम जोशी ने नहीं किया है पर उन्होंने भूमिका जरुर लिखी थी. यह किताब मैंने एक पुरानी किताबों की दूकान से खरीदी थी कोई आठ- दस साल पहले.
