महाराष्ट्र में नेरुर पार के एक तटवर्ती गांव में 1946 में जन्मे श्री प्रभाकार कोलते स्वातन्त्र्योत्तर भारत में आधुनिक अमूर्त-कला की पहली पीढ़ी में रज़ा, गायतोण्डे, रामकुमार प्रभृति के बाद अग्रणी नामों में से एक हैं। जे. जे. स्कूल ऑफ़ आर्ट, मुम्बई में औपचारिक कला-शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद श्री कोलते ने वहीं जे. जे. स्कूल ऑफ़ आर्ट में बाईस बरस कला-प्रोफ़ेसर के रूप में पढ़ाया भी। अपने कला जीवन के आरम्भिक निर्माण काल में श्री कोलते शंकर पलसीकर के सम्पर्क में रहे और उन पर पॉल क्ली की कला व दर्शन का प्रभाव रहा। क्रमशः उन्होंने अपनी निजी व स्वायत्त कला-भाषा अर्जित की। प्रकृति के अनुकरण के बजाय प्रकृति की पुनरर्चना श्री कोलते के चित्रों में केन्द्रीय महत्व रखती है और कला, समाज सहित एक वृहत्तर परिप्रेक्ष्य में समूची सांस्कृतिकी व साभ्यतिक प्रश्न उनके प्रमुख व प्रखर सरोकार रहे हैं।
अन्तरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर समादृत भारत व भारतीयेतर प्रमुख कला वीथियों में श्री कोलते की पन्द्रह से अधिक एकल प्रदषर्नियां और पचास से अधिक सामूहिक चित्र प्रदर्शनियाँ आयोजित हो चुकी हैं। महाराष्ट्र व भारत के प्रमुख मराठी व अंग्रेजी समाचार पत्रों व पत्रिकाओं में श्री कोलते बराबर कला व समाज के प्रश्नों पर वैचारिक आलेख लिखते रहे हैं और कला पर उनकी मराठी व अंग्रेजी भाषाओं में दो किताबें भी प्रकाशित हैं। सम्प्रति श्री कोलते मुम्बई में रहते हुए चित्र-रचना में संलग्न हैं और कलाविषयक प्रश्नों पर देश-विदेश में व्याख्यान व वार्ताएं देने के अलावा कला के विद्यार्थियों पर खास ध्यान देने में रुचि रखते हैं ताकि कलाओं का एक स्वस्थ व रचनात्मक वातावरण निर्मित हो सके।
कोलते जी का हिन्दी भाषा से गहरा लगाव है और उन्होंने मराठी व अंग्रेज़ी में काफ़ी कविताएं भी लिखी हैं। आज कोलते जी की कुछ अंग्रेज़ी कविताओं के हिन्दी अनुवाद प्रस्तुत हैं। पीयूष दईया ने श्री कोलते के समग्र कला-चिन्तन से एक संचयिता तैयार की है जो सूर्य प्रकाशन मन्दिर, बीकानेर से शीघ्रप्रकाश्य है।

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
