जानकी पुल – A Bridge of World's Literature. जानकी पुल पर प्रकाशित लेखों में प्रकट विचार लेखक के होते हैं. उनसे मॉडरेटर का सहमत होना जरूरी नहीं है. हाँ, अपने लेखों में प्रकट विचारों के लिए मॉडरेटर खुद जिम्मेदार है
‘दर्रा दर्रा हिमालय’ ऐसी किताब नहीं है जिसमें हिमालय की गोद में बसे हिल स्टेशनों की कहानी हो, जिसे पढ़ते हुए हम याद करें कि अरे नैनीताल के इस होटल में तो हम भी ठहरे थे, शिमला के रेस्तरां में बैठकर हमने भी मॉल का नजारा लिया था. हमने भी रोहतांग में बर्फ देखी थी. मेरी भांजी बर्फ से फिसल गई थी और उसे बड़ी चोट आई थी.
यह अलग तरह का सफरनामा है. हिमालय के दुर्गम दर्रों की. उनको फतह करने के ख़याल से नहीं बल्कि उनको करीब से देखने के ख़याल से. वह देखने का कि आखिर पुराण, इतिहास, अपने स्कूली किताबों. बड़े बूढों की कहानियों की वह दुनिया कैसी है? असल में सच बताऊँ तो इसे पढ़ते हुए मुझे जाने माने इतिहासकार शेखर पाठक की मानसरोवर यात्रा संस्मरण की याद आती रही. इसलिए नहीं कि इस वृत्तान्त की उससे कुछ समानता है. इसलिए कि उसको पढ़ते हुए मन वैसे ही मानसरोवर की यात्रा पर जाने का होने लगा था जैसे ‘दर्रा दर्रा हिमालय’ पढ़ते हुए एक बार और हिमालय दर्शन का मन होने लगा. और कहीं से नहीं तो कम से कम डलहौजी या मनाली से ही सही.
यात्रा वृत्तान्त का एक गुण यह भी होता है. लिखने वाला हमें उसमें अपने साथ लेकर चलने लगता है. वह खुद भी सफ़र का साथी बन जाता है और हमें भी अपना साथी बनाता चलता है. कभी हमारे गाइड की तरह, कभी रोचक कहानी सुनाने वाले सफ़र में साथ चलने वाले किसी सहयात्री की तरह. रहस्य-रोमांच से भरपूर. मुझे याद है मैंने स्कूल के दिनों में मोहन राकेश का यात्रा वृत्तान्त पढ़ा था- आखिर चट्टान तक. न जाने मैंने कितनी बार दक्षिण भारत के अलग अलग शहरों की यात्रा की, न जाने कितना कुछ बदलते देखा. बेंगलुरु को फूलों के शहर से जैम में ठहरे शहर में बदलते देखा. लेकिन आज भी दक्षिण में कहीं जाता हूँ तो मोहन राकेश की वही किताब याद आती है. या चीड़ों पर चांदनी! मुक्त यात्रा की वैसी उन्मुक्त किताब शायद ही कोई पढ़ी हो. हृदय की मुक्तावस्था इसी को कहते होंगे शायद.
बहरहाल, अजय सोडानी की किताब ‘दर्रा दर्रा हिमालय’ में मूलतः दो यात्राओं का वर्णन है. पहली यात्रा कालिंदी खाल की है, जिसे दर्रों का सिरमौर कहा गया है. यह रोमांचक यात्रा लेखक ने पूरे परिवार के साथ की. यह इसका एक और आकर्षण है. किताब में यह दर्ज है कि सोडानी परिवार का नाम लिम्का बुक ऑफ़ में दर्ज है कि 2006 में इस दर्रे को पार करने वाला यह पहला परिवार बना.
दूसरी यात्रा उत्तरकाशी, गंगोत्तरी से आगे की है, जिसे लेखक ने पांडवों के पदचिन्हों पर कहा है. जिसका उद्देश्य हिमालय की बायोडायवर्सिटी को देखना समझना बताया गया है. यात्राओं के बीच बीच में ‘यात्राओं से परे’ के अंतर्गत कुछ मशहूर यात्रियों के स्मरण हैं, कुछ डायरीनुमा टीपें हैं. सबसे बढ़कर, एक यात्री का लेखक एक रूप में रूपांतरित होता व्यक्तित्व है. जो पहाड़ों की बर्फानी सुन्दरता को देखते हुए, एवलांच को देखते हुए धीरे धीरे बदलता जा रहा है. आप एक पाठक के रूप में उस रूपांतरण को महसूस कर सकते हैं. आरम्भ में गद्य वर्णनात्मक है जो धीरे धीरे काव्यात्मक होता जाता है. बीच बीच में लेखक ने कविताएं, शेर आदि भी उद्धृत किये हैं.
पुस्तक का प्रकाशन ‘सार्थक’ श्रृंखला के अंतर्गत किया है, जो राजकमल प्रकाशन का एक उपक्रम है पाठकों से सीधे जुड़ने का. यह अच्छा है कि प्रकाशक अब पाठकों की तरफ रुख कर रहे हैं, वे इस बात को समझ गए हैं कि किताबों को पुस्तकालयों के गोदामों से बाहर निकलने का समय आ गया है. इसमें कोई शक नहीं कि पुस्तक मेलों, साहित्य उत्सवों ने धीरे धीरे वह माहौल बनाना शुरु कर दिया है जिससे किताबों का निकष पाठक बनते जा रहे हैं.
ऐसी किताबों की हिंदी में नितांत आवश्यकता है जिसमें विधाओं का लोड न हो, तथाकथित सामाजिकता का बोझ न हो. किसान-मजदूरों के प्रति वह झूठी संवेदना, जिसने पीढ़ियों को आलोचक बनाया, पाठकों को बरगलाने का काम किया है. यह अच्छा है कि इस बात की समझ हिंदी में भी बढ़ रही है कि साहित्य असल में मध्यवर्गीय उपक्रम है और इसका एक उद्देश्य पाठकों आनंदित करना भी होता है. समाज को बदलने, पाठकों को शिक्षित करने का काम उसका न था, न है. इस बात की समझ लेखकों में भी बढ़ी है और अच्छी बात है कि प्रकाशकों में भी. जो किताबों के प्रस्तुतीकरण के पेशेवर नजरिये में दिखाई देने लगा है.
‘दर्रा दर्रा हिमालय’ बहुत सुन्दर ढंग से आकल्पित पुस्तक है जो आने वाले समय में पथ प्रदर्शक साबित होगी, एक पाठक-लेखक एक रूप में मुझे लगता है. आने वाला से समय में हिंदी के लेखक हिंदी विभागों के मास्साब से किसान-मजदूर ब्रांड सर्टिफिकेट से नहीं बल्कि पाठकों के नजरिये से आएंगे, आने चाहिए. हिंदी के आत्मविश्वास के लिए यह जरूरी है.
बहरहाल, अबकी हिमालय की गोद में बसे किसी शहर गया तो वहां पढने के लिए ‘दर्रा दर्रा हिमालय’ लेकर जाऊँगा. वहां इसको पढने की अनुभूति अलग ही होगी. फिलहाल आपको मौका मिले तो अपने अपने मैदानों में गाड़ियों की पों-पों, जीवन की भागमभाग के बीच इसे पढ़कर देखिएगा. सुकून मिलेगा.

जब उनसे मिला था लगभग 12-13 साल पहले तब सहज सरल डॉ. साहब में इतना कुशल प्रकृति का चितेरा छुपा होगा, ,यह बिलकुल भी नहीं लगा था!
आजकल यही किताब पढ़ रही हूँ… अलग ही अनुभव है… शब्दों में बयान करना थोड़ा मुश्किल है.. जिसे भी पहाड़ों से, खासकर के हिमालय से प्यार है इसे ज़रूर पढ़े…
