किसानों द्वारा आविष्कृत बीजों के इस सत्र में डॉ. राव ने वहीं से अपनी बात उठायी – ‘एक धान इन्द्रासन, एक धान एच.एम.टी.! दोनों ही धान कृषि वैज्ञानिकों द्वारा नहीं, मामूली किसानों द्वारा खोजे गये हैं, जिसकी तस्वीरें नीचे लगी हुई हैं। इनमें से इन्द्रासन आज उत्तरी भारत और एच.एम.टी. मध्य भारत का प्रमुख धान–बीज है। अब जो चीज दोनों को अलग करती है, उस पर आपका ध्यान चाहूँगा…। इन्द्रासन बीज को इन्द्रासन का नाम मिला, गाँव का नामकरण भी…दादाजी इससे वंचित रहे। जितनी व्यापक स्वीकृति इन्द्रासन सिंह को मिली उतनी दादाजी को नहीं, अलबत्ता हमारे पूर्व राष्ट्रपति और वैज्ञानिक अब्दुल कलाम साहब ने इन्हें भी सम्मानित किया और उन्हें भी। दोनों को! सबसे बड़ा फर्क यह कि‘इन्द्रासन को पेटेंट कराने के लिए पन्तनगर विश्वविद्यालय के कृषि वैज्ञानिक और ‘किसान भारती’पत्रिका समेत सभी मंच आगे आये और 2010 को इसका पेटेंट भी करा लिया गया, जबकि दादाजी के एच.एम.टी. को पेटेंट कराना तो दूर, उनके श्रेय को भी कृषि विश्वविद्यालय ने हड़प कर उसी में सुधार कर अपना नाम दे दिया। यह फर्क उत्तर प्रदेश और महाराष्ट्र की नीयत का ही फर्क नहीं दर्शाता, बल्कि 1952 और 2012 यानी 60 सालों में आये हमारे नैतिक मूल्यों के पतन को भी दर्शाता है।’

टोपी पहने वह गावदी-सा व्यक्ति बड़ी ठेलमठेल पर अपनी बात कहने को राजी हुआ – ‘ओले के बारे में मौसम वैज्ञानिक अगर भविष्यवाणी नहीं कर सकते तो हराम की तनख्वाह क्यों लेते हैं? हालाँकि उससे दूर-दूर की फसलों को बचा पाना मुश्किल है। मुआवजे का यह हाल है कि घूस दो, मुआवजा लो। एक खेत को मिला, बगल वाले मेरे खेत को नहीं।’ वह गावदी-सा किसान निरुत्तर कर गया पढ़े-लिखों को!
