हमारे दोस्त कर्नल साहब अपने जवानी के दिन याद करते हुये कहा करते हैं कि बीस से पैंतीस साल की उमर कुछ ऐसी होती है कि समय बीतने का पता नहीं चल पाता। ये बात और है कि उनकी नजर में अभी वो जवान है, और कुछ लोगों की नजर में हम बूढ़े हो चुके हैं। अभी कॉलेज के तीसरे साल में पढ़ रही मेरी नयी दोस्त ‘टिंकरबेल’ ने मुझसे कहा कि वो अभी भी अपने बचपन में खोई हुयी है । एक बारह साल की बच्ची की तरह उसने कहा कि किसी भी तरह की ‘ऐनिमेशन फिल्म’ रिलीज हो, और वो न देखे ऐसा हो ही नहीं सकता।
मैंने पूछा कि ऐनिमेशन फिल्म ही ‘क्यों’ और पुरानी श्वेत-श्याम फिल्म ‘क्यों नहीं’? आशा के अनुरूप टिंकरबेल ने मेरे प्रश्न के पहले भाग को नजरअंदाज कर दिया। ‘आपको पता नहीं, ऐनिमेशन फिल्मों में विचारों के नये आयाम निकल कर आ जाते हैं। वो भी ऐसे जैसा कोई नहीं सोच सकता! कम से कम हिन्दुस्तान में तो कोई नहीं।’
उसने बहुत से फिल्मों के नाम गिनाये। तकनीक के मामले में हम पीछे हैं। कहानियों की चोरी के मुमाअले में हम आगे। कामचोरी में हम आगे हैं और मेहनत में पीछे। फिल्मों में पैसा लगाने के मामले में हॉलीवुड वाले आगे हैं, बॉलीवुड वाले पीछे। इसी तरह पैसा बनाने के मामले में हॉलीवुड वाले आगे-आगे हैं, बॉलीवुड वाले पीछे-पीछे। कातिल आगे-आगे है, दीवाना पीछे-पीछे। इसलिये हम पीछे-पीछे ही चलते रहते हैं।
‘टिंकरबेल’ ने बताया, “आपको पता है आज डिज्नी की एक फिल्म रिलीज हो रही है ‘Inside Out ‘. मैं आज उसको देखने जरूर जाउँगी। आपने उसका ट्रेलर देखा?”
मेरी कम जानकारी पर तरस खा कर अपने आई फोन पर उसने फौरन इंटरनेट पर Inside Out का ट्रेलर दिखाया। तीन किरदार थे – माँ, पिता और बेटी। छोटी सी लड़की के दिमाग में पाँच तरह की आवाजें आती हैं, जो पाँच मूल भावनाओं पर आधारित हैं – 1. हर्ष (Joy) 2. क्रोध (Anger ) 3. जुगुप्सा (Digust) 4. भय (Fear) 6. शोक (Sadness)। ये पाँच भावनायें उसके व्यवहार को नियंत्रित करती हैं।
“इसका आइडिया कितना मौलिक है!” टिंकरबेल ने मुझसे पूछा।
रस सिद्धांत का पूरे एक साल के अध्ययन के बाद इस फिल्म की मौलिकता पर मैंने प्रश्नचिह्न लगा दिया।मैंने टिंकरबेल से पूछा कि उसने ‘रस सिद्धांत’ का नाम सुना है क्या। जैसी उम्मीद थी, नहीं सुना था। न ही उसे इस बात से कोई मतलब है कि वो पाँच के बजाये आठ भाव भी हो सकते हैं। हर्ष जैसे व्यभिचारी भाव को चार अन्य स्थायीभाव (1. रति 2. हास्य 3. उत्साह 5. विस्मय) में तोड़ा जा सकता है।

यह बड़े खेद का विषय है कि विज्ञान की उपलब्धि के बाद हमने दर्शन को भुला दिया। पूरी तरह उसे भुला कर तथाकथित ‘वैज्ञानिक’ सिद्धांतों पर मनोविज्ञान जैसे विषय को आँख मूँद कर गले लगा लिया है जैसे वही सत्य हो। मनोविज्ञान अपने विरोधाभासों के साथ ज्ञान और चिंतन में अपरिपक्व विषय है। अपरिपक्व इसलिये क्योंकि यह सारे प्रश्नों का उत्तर नहीं देता, जहाँ कि एक दार्शनिक व्यवस्था मनुष्य के सारे प्रश्नों का उत्तर देने का प्रयत्न करती है या करने का उत्तरदायित्त्व उठाती है। अनालिटिकल फिलॉसफी और आधुनिक मनोविज्ञान चेतना को जड़ और उर्जा के अर्थों में देखते हैं, जो कि कॉंटिनेन्टल फिलॉसफी और भारतीय दर्शनों (सांख्य-योग, न्याय-वैशेषिका, मीमांसा-वेदांत, जैन, थेरवाद, योगाचार व माध्यमिक बौद्ध दर्शन) से भिन्न है। विज्ञान ने बहुत सी रूढियों को हटाया, बहुत से कुरीतियों और अज्ञान से लोगों को पीछा छुड़ाया।संचार, दूरगमन और स्वास्थ्य सम्बन्धी सुविधायें लोगों को मुहैय्या करवायी।पर हमें यह भी नहीं भूलना चाहिये कि ये जीने के लिये आवश्यक और गैर आवश्यक वस्तुओं की उपलब्धि मात्र है। आदमी का कल्याण सही सोच-विचार, नैतिक और सामाजिक चिंतन से होता है। यहाँ विज्ञान सहायक मात्र है। आज से करीब सवा सौ साल पहले विवेकानंद विज्ञान के प्रति अंधभक्ति के प्रति आगाह करते हैं।

हम भले ही स्वामी विवेकानंद के वेदांत के सिद्धांत को न माने, पर विज्ञान की अंधभक्ति पर आपत्ति कर सकते हैं।विज्ञान का आधार है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति किसी भी सिद्धांत को विशेषज्ञों के समक्ष गलत सिद्ध कर के पूरे संसार के लिये उसे बदलने का अधिकार रखता है। इसलिये हमारी मजबूरी हो जाती है कि हम विशेषज्ञों के बताये सिद्धांतों को मान लें, क्योंकि हर मनुष्य सभी विषयों का ज्ञानी नहीं हो सकता।
लेकिन ऐसी मजबूरी की बातें किसी भी इंसान के होश-ओ-हवास के लिये बेवकूफी भरी बात सिद्ध हो जायेगी अगर वो हर समय इस बात का मुँह देखे कि वैज्ञानिक और मनोवैज्ञानिक क्या कहते हैं और क्या सोचते हैं या क्या करने के लिये निर्देश देते हैं। यह न मानव के लिये संभव है और स्वीकार्य। अत: विचारों के लिये और चेतना के विमर्श के लिये दर्शन के अलावा हमारा कोई चारा नहीं बचता। इस तरह हमारे पास बच जाते हैं कुछ तेज-तर्रार लोग (जैसे कि आचार्य रजनीश, जिन पर ढेरों आपराधिक मुकदमें थे) या बिना किसी दर्शन परंपरा के चिंतक (जैसे जिद्दु कृष्णमूर्ति) या विशाल और अंतहीन दार्शनिक परंपरायें (जो कि परस्पर विरोधी लगती हैं)। हमें विशाल दार्शनिक परम्पराओं से अंतहीन विस्तार डरना नहीं चाहिये क्योंकि व्याकरण और सीमित शब्दों के प्रयोग से असीमित विचारों का अनुसंधान की परम्परा सदियों के विचारकों की देन है, जिसमें गलती की गुंजाइश भी है और सत्य की संभावना भी है। मनोविज्ञान बाकि विज्ञान की तरह नापने का सिद्धांत का प्रयोग करता है। सुख और दु:ख कैसे मापे जा सकते हैं? उनकी अभिव्यक्ति नापी जा सकती है, पर क्या वे खुद में कभी मापे जा सकते हैं?
रूस, फ्रांस,जर्मनी जैसे दुनिया के कई विकसित देशों के स्कूलों के पाठ्यक्रम में गणित, कम्प्यूटर साईंस और दर्शन अनिवार्य विषय होते हैं। हमारे यहाँ लोग रो-धो के पढाई करते हैं। नोट्स रट कर परीक्षा देते हैं।परीक्षा में सिलेबस से बाहर कुछ सवाल आ जाये तो लोग रोने लगते हैं। दूसरे विषय छोड़ दिया जाये, अधिकांश लोगों को अपने विषय का भी कुछ पता नहीं। स्नातक विद्यार्थी दसवीं के सवाल नहीं हल कर पाते हैं, जिसमें उनके बड़े अच्छे नंबर आये होते हैं। अगर गणित छोड़ भी दिया जाये, स्कूल स्तर पर दर्शन की पढ़ाई क्यों हटा दी जाती है? अगर सेकुलर होने के लिये भारतीय दर्शनों को पढाना गलत लगे तो हमें ग्रीक दार्शनिकों ही पढाया जाये। हिन्दी पट्टी में नृत्य और संगीत हमारे पाठ्यक्रम का हिस्सा नहीं बनती। वही दक्षिण भारत में आसानी से संगीत या नृत्य में शिक्षित लोग नजर आ जाते हैं। परंपरा से बिछुड़ कर हम किसी के पिछलग्गू ही बन सकते हैं।पिछलग्गू बने रहने से हीनता ही आयेगी। हीनता से कुंठा उपजेगी। कुंठा या तो हिंसा को जन्म देगी या अवसाद को।
बहरहाल लौट आते हैं हम ‘इनसाइड आउट’ पर। यह फिल्म जैसी भी बनी हो, और मौलिकता का जो भी दावा लेखक-निर्देशक करें, यह तथ्य झुठलाया नहीं जा सकता कि इस फिल्म की अवधारणा भारतीय विचार परंपरा के रस सिद्धांत से मिलती जुलती है। हमारे देश के नवयुवक और नवयुवतियाँ जिसे देख-देख कर आहें भरें, वैसी ‘स्लमडॉग मिलिनेयर’ के प्रशंसकों को भारतीय पारंपरिक विचारकों की सहानुभूति मिल सकती है पर मौलिकता के नाम पर कोई प्रशंसा नहीं।लेकिन यह फिल्म हमारी विस्मृत विचार प्रणाली को रेखांकित करती है, इसके लिये हमें डिज्नी वालों का खेद सहित आभारी होना चाहिये, बिल्कुल वैसे ही जैसे मैक्समुलर ने हमारे उपनिषदों का पश्चिमी जगत के लिये अनुवाद तो किया पर उन्होंने राजा राममोहन रॉय को ईसाई न बना पाने का खेद प्रकट किया।
