मैं पाकिस्तान का नमक खाता हूँ। भड़किये नहीं! मैं ही नहीं, कई प्रवासी भारतीय पाकिस्तान का नमक-मसाला खाते हैं। दरअसल, यहाँ जितने भारतीय नमक-मसाले की दुकानें हैं, पाकिस्तानियों की है। अधिकतर रेस्तराँ, जिनमें हर तीसरे का नाम बॉम्बे, ताजमहल या इंडिया गेट रेस्तराँ है, वो पाकिस्तानियों की है। ताज्जुब की बात है, लाहौर, इस्लामाबाद या रावलपिंडी नामसे रेस्तराँ का नाम नहीं रख्खा। वो पाकिस्तानी होटल खुद को इंडिस्क रेस्तराँ कहकर मार्केट करते हैं।
जब भारत-पाक टेंशन की फेसबुकिया शुरूआत हुई, मैनें भी बॉयकॉट कर दिया। यूरोपीय दुकानें जाने लगा। पर आँतों में ये विलायती ‘चीज़‘ बस लस्सेदार गुत्थे बनकर रह जाते। पेट में अजीब सी गुड़गुड़ाहट, और मसालों की तलब। आखिर कुछ भारत से अचार वगैरा लाया था, उसे ब्रेड के बीच घुसेड़ कर खाने लगा। एक हफ्ते में आँतों में मरोड़ आ गया, तो सोचा खिचड़ी बनाई जाए। पर बिन हल्दी खिचड़ी कहाँ? एक मस्टर्ड-सॉस नामक पीली चटनी मिलती है, उसे चावल में डालकर उबाल दिया। ये कोशिश (या स्टंट) सिर्फ विशेषज्ञों की देखरेख में करें। आपकी जान, जीभ, पेट, सर्वांग खतरा हो सकता है। भोजन देखकर विषाद उत्पन्न हो सकता है।
मैनें ठान लिया अब प्रेमपूर्वक ‘एल.ओ.सी.‘ क्रॉस कर ली जाए। चुपचाप झोला लिये पाकिस्तानी दुकान में धावा बोला और एक-एक मसाले पर ‘सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक‘ किया। हल्दी, मिर्च मसाला, मेथी, जीरा सब भर लाया। इतने भर लाया कि गर युद्ध हो जाए और फिर से मन में राष्ट्रभक्ति हावी हो जाए, तो स्टॉक भरपूर रहे। पाकिस्तानी दुकानदार भी हतप्रभ रह गया कि भला ये जनाब ३ किलो जीरा का करेंगें क्या? कोई भारतीय ढाबा-वाबा तो नहीं खोलने वाले?
“कैसे हैं आप? कई रोज़ बाद नजर आये?”
“कुछ नहीं। बिजी हो गया था। तुम सुनाओ। सब खैरियत?”
“सब्बा खैर!”
“सब खैरियत वहाँ भी? तुम तो कश्मीर से हो?”
“आजाद कश्मीर से। हाँ!”
“नहीं! कुछ वार-शार चल रहा है।”
“अच्छा? कश्मीर में? वो तो रोज ही चलता है बॉर्डर पे। हम दूर रहते हैं।”
“ओह! मतलब कोई खतरा नहीं।”
“न न! बेफिक्र रहिए जनाब। आप भी कश्मीर से हैं?”
“नहीं! बिहार से। दूर हैं हम भी।”
“बस ठीक है। लो जी आपके हो गये ४३० क्रोनर, और आपका १० % डिस्काउंट स्पेशल।”
“मेरी जॉब नहीं गई भाई!”
“ओह! कई इंडियन्स की गई न? हमने सबको १० % कर दिया है, इंडियन्स को बस। नॉर्वे वालों को नहीं।”
“माफ करना। मैं नहीं लूँगा डिस्काउंट।”
“क्यूँ नाराज हो रहे हो जनाब? बच्चों की चॉकलेट ले लें।”
“नहीं। कुछ नहीं लूँगा। बाय।”
भला मेरे बच्चे पाकिस्तानियों की खैरात खायेंगें? लानत है ऐसी चॉकलेट पर। फिर लगा चॉकलेट ही तो है, और वो कौन सा पाकिस्तान में बना होगा। और कौन भारतीय फेसबुक से देखने आ रहा है? अब नमक-मसाले भी तो उठाए, फिर चॉकलेट भी सही।
“दे दो भाई चॉकलेट!”
“अब नहीं दूँगा। आप नाराज हो चले गए।”
“नहीं-नहीं। सोचा मुफ्त में न लूँ।”
“जो मर्जी उठा लो। आपकी ही दुकान है। मुफ्त में क्या?”
‘एल.ओ.सी.‘ क्रॉस कर वापस लौटा, तो कुछ मिक्स्ड ईमोशन थे। ‘सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक‘ सफल रहा या असफल? अजीब पशोपेश में था। खैरात के पाकिस्तानी चॉकलेट अब भी काट रहे थे, पर बच्चों ने जेब में चॉकलेटनुमा उभार देखा तो झपट पड़े। सारी देशभक्ति कैरामेल के साथ मेल्ट हो गई। मसाले आ गए, तो आँते भी विजय-नृत्य करने लगी। अब इन आँतों को कौन समझाए कि ये पाक के नापाक मसाले हैं?
