वो शे’र सुन के मिरा हो गया दिवाना क्या
मैं सच कहूँगा तो मानेगा ये ज़माना क्या
कभी तो आना है दुनिया के सामने उसको
अब उसको ढूँढने दैरो-हरम में जाना क्या
ख़ुशी के वास्ते जद्दो-जहद बहुत की है
पड़ेगा वैसे मुझे दर्द भी कमाना क्या
सुना है काम चलाते हो तुम बहानों से
उधार दोगे मुझे भी कोई बहाना क्या
तुम्हारी यादों की गर्मी है सर्द रातों में
लिहाफ़ ऐसे में अब ओढ़ना-बिछाना क्या
जलेगा जितना भी दुनिया को रौशनी देगा
चराग़े-इल्मो-हुनर है इसे बुझाना क्या
तबाह करने पे आये तो फिर नहीं सुनती
वो नर्मरौ है नदी का मगर ठिकाना क्या

अंतर्मन में जब बलवा हो जाता है
रो लेता हूँ मन हल्का हो जाता है
कैरम की गोटी सा जीवन है मेरा
रानी लेते ही ग़च्चा हो जाता है
रोज़ बचाता हूँ इज्ज़त की चौकी मैं
रोज़ मगर इस पर हमला हो जाता है
कैसे कह दूँ अक्सर अपने हाथों से
करता हूँ ऐसा, वैसा हो जाता है
पीछे कहता रहता है क्या-क्या मुझको
मेरे आगे जो गूंगा हो जाता है
उसकी शख्सियत में मक़नातीस है क्या
जो उससे मिलता उसका हो जाता है
उस दम महँगी पड़ती है तेरी आदत
सारा आलम जब सस्ता हो जाता है
ठीक कहा था इक दिन पीरो-मुर्शिद ने
धीरे-धीरे सब अच्छा हो जाता है

अगर वो हादिसा फिर से हुआ तो
मैं तेरे इश्क में फिर पड़ गया तो
कि उसका रूठना भी लाज़मी है
मना लूँगा अगर होगा ख़फ़ा तो
मिरी उलझन सुलझती जा रही है
दिखाया है तुम्ही ने रास्ता तो
यकीनन राजे-दिल मैं खोल दूंगा
दिया अपना जो उसने वास्ता तो
रुका बिलकुल नहीं वो पास आकर
