प्रसिद्ध पत्रकार प्रियदर्शन को हिंदी की की साहित्यिक दुनिया कवि-कथाकार के रूप में जानती-पहचानती है. समकालीन पीढ़ी के रचनाकारों में अपने नए मुहावरे से उन्होंने एक अलग पहचान बनाई है. अनुभव के सघन बिम्ब और सजग वैचारिकता निजी से लगते पाठ को भी सार्वजनिक बना देता है. मैं यहाँ उनकी नई कविता की बात कर रहा था. एक पुरानी कविता के साथ प्रस्तुत है- जानकी पुल.
1.
44वें जन्मदिन पर डॉक्टर इवा हजारी की याद
मुझे नहीं मालूम डॉ इवा हजारी
कि आप अब इस दुनिया में हैं भी या नहीं,
अगर हैं तो कहां हैं
और किस हाल में हैं,
न मैं आपको पहचानता हूं
और न आप मुझे पहचानती हैं
फिर भी हमारे-आपके बीच एक डोर है,
डोर जीवन की, जो सबसे पहले आपने थामी थी
मां की कोख से मुझे बाहर निकाला था
मेरी गर्भनाल काटी थी
और मुझे दुनिया की बांहों में सौंप दिया था।
मेरे जिस्म पर, मेरे वजूद पर, मेरे होने पर,
जो पहला स्पर्श पड़ा, वह आपका था
और मेरे जन्म की वह कहानी बताते-बताते
मां की आंखें अक्सर चमक उठती थीं,
यह प्रसंग छिड़ते ही वह अक्सर रांची के सदर अस्पताल के
उस ऑपरेशन थिएटर में पहुंच जाती थी,
जहां २४ जून, १९६७ की रात,
वह दर्द से कराहती लेटी थी
और फिर एक ममतामयी सी अंग्रेज- नहीं- ऐंग्लो इंडियन- डॉक्टर ने
उसे सहलाया था- तसल्ली और भरोसा दिलाते हुए-
और बताते-बताते हंस पड़ती थी मां
कि उस डॉक्टर के कहने पर १० तक गिन रही थी
कि उसे पता भी नहीं चला और एनीस्थीसिया दे दिया गया।
‘जब आंख खुली तो बगल में तुम लेटे थे‘।
कहानी यहां ख़त्म नहीं, शुरू होती है डॉक्टर,
वह युवा लड़की- जिसे आपने मातृत्व की सौगात दी थी- मेरी मां
अब इस दुनिया में नहीं है
जिससे यह कहानी में फिर से सुन सकूं
और नए सिरे से जी सकूं
मातृत्व और पारिवारिकता का वह छलछलाता हुआ मान
जिसके कई सिरे अलग-अलग लोगों से जुड़े थे-
मेरे कुछ बेख़बर और कुछ चिंतित युवा पिता से,
जो तब मुझसे आज के हिसाब से १७ साल छोटे रहे होंगे;
मेरी बिल्कुल लगी रहने वाली दादी और नानी से
जिनकी गोद में बरसों तक मैं पलता रहा;
मेरे भागदौड़ करते मामा-मौसी से
जो कभी-कभी मां के साथ मिलकर उन दिनों की छलछलाती याद बांटा करते थे।
आज ४४ साल बाद ये तार बहुत बिखरे-बिखरे हैं मेरी अनजान प्रथमस्पर्शिनी डॉक्टर,
बहुत से लोग अब इस दुनिया में नहीं हैं,
और जो बहुत सारे लोग हैं, उनकी दुनिया बदल गई है।
मैं किससे पूछूं, किसके साथ बांटूं
उन प्रथम, सुकुमार दिनों का वह उजला अनुभव
जिस पर वक्त की मिट्टी और धूल बहुत मोटी हो गई है।
मैं भी तो बदल गया हूं।
अब समझ भी नहीं पाता,
वे कौन लोग थे और किसे सुनाते थे
मेरे मामूली से जन्म के बहुत गैरमामूली और जादुई लगते ब्योरे।
इन ४४ वर्षों में और भी बहुत कुछ बदला है, बिखरा है, गंदला हुआ है।
उस सदर अस्पताल को तो आप बिल्कुल नहीं पहचान पाएंगी
जहां किसी साफ़ सुथरे कमरे में आपने मेरी मां की देखभाल की होगी।
सरकारी अस्पताल इन दिनों सेहत का नहीं, बीमारी का घर लगते हैं
और वह रांची शहर भी बहुत बदल गया है
जो उन दिनों एक ख़ामोश कस्बा रहा होगा।
उस ख़ामोश कस्बे के इकलौते सरकारी अस्पताल में ही संभव रहा होगा
कि एक मरीज़ अपने डॉक्टर से ऐसा नाता जोड़े
जिसकी विरासत अपने बेटे तक छोड़ जाए।
इस बेटे को भी हालांकि कहां से पहचानेंगी आप?
आपके हाथों से तो न जाने कितने अनजान शिशुओं ने जीवन का वरदान ग्रहण किया होगा।
लेकिन आप इस दुनिया में हों न हों,
आपको यह यकीन दिलाना चाहता हूं
कि आपका दिया हुआ जो जीवन था
उसे अब तक क़ायदे से जिया है डॉक्टर।
ऐसा कुछ नहीं किया, जिससे आपका प्रथम स्पर्श लजाए, ख़ुद को संकुचित महसूस करे।
निश्चय ही इस जीवन में अपनी तरह की क्षुद्रताएं आईं, कहीं-कहीं ओछापन भी,
शर्मिंदगी के कुछ लम्हे भी, भय की कुछ घड़ियां भी।
कई नाइंसाफ़ियों से आंख मिलाने से बचता रहा
और कहीं-कहीं घुटने भी टेके
लेकिन इन सबसे निकलता रहा मैं,
किसी विजेता की तरह नहीं,
बल्कि अपनी हारी हुई मनुष्यता को
नए सिरे से आत्मा का जल देते हुए, भरोसे की थपकी देते हुए।
शर्म करने लायक कुछ न करना,
न घुटने टेकना, न डरना,
नाइंसाफ़ी से आंख मिलाना
और जो सही लगे, उसके साथ खड़ा होने की कोशिश करना सीखते हुए।
हालांकि यह आसान नहीं है
और जीवन हर रो़ज़ लेता है नए सिरे से इम्तिहान।
लेकिन इस काम में बहुत सारे हाथ मेरा साथ देते हैं
बहुत सारी निगाहें मुझे बचाए रखती हैं।
वे भी जो दुनिया में हैं और वे भी जो दुनिया में नहीं हैं।
अक्सर तो नहीं, लेकिन कभी-कभी जब बहुत घिर जाता हूं
तो एक हाथ अचानक अपने कंधों पर पाता हूं
उस स्त्री का, जो मेरी लंबी उम्र की कामना के लिए जीवित नहीं है
लेकिन जिसकी न जाने कितनी कामनाएं- लंबी उम्र से लेकर अच्छे जीवन तक की- मेरे वजूद पर
किसी कवच की तरह बनी हुई हैं।
आज अपने 44वें जन्मदिन पर
उसी हाथ को महसूस करते-करते
उन चमकती आंखों की
और उनके सहारे आपकी याद आई है डॉक्टर इवा हजारी।
क्या आपको याद है
अपने ऑपरेशन टेबल पर ४४ साल पहले लेटी वह युवा स्त्री
जो मेरी मां थी?
पता नहीं, आप इस दुनिया में हैं या नहीं,
हैं भी तो कहां हैं,
लेकिन मेरी स्मृति में, मेरे संवाद में,
आपकी उजली उपस्थिति मेरे जीवन को
बिल्कुल उस लम्हे, उस कोने, उस कमरे तक ले जाती है
जहां से इसकी शुरुआत हुई थी।
वहां बस हम तीन थे-मां, आप और मैं।
हम तीनों जीवित हैं डॉक्टर।
आखिर आपने जो जीवन दिया है,
उसमें आपका भी तो जीवन शामिल है
और
मेरी मां तो मेरे साथ रहेगी ही।

सोचता हूं,
तुम्हारे ख़िलाफ़ बगावत का एक परचम
बुलंद करूं।
संपूर्ण तुम, तटस्थ तुम, निर्लिप्त तुम,
सबके निर्माता सबके नियंता।
मेरे अधूरेपन पर उठी हुई उंगली तुम।
तुम उन अंशों में हो, जहां हम नहीं हैं।

बहुत ही जीवंत कविताएँ हैं…..कविता प्रियदर्शन के खून में है। 44वें वर्ष में डॉक्टर इवा हजारी की स्मृति के बिम्ब इतने सघन हैं कि पाठक को लगने लगता है वह खुद कविता में मौजूद है।
