राजेन्द्र यादव : बहुत याद आएंगे !
आज शनिवार है । पिछले लगभग बीस वर्षों से मेरे साथ अकसर यह होता रहा कि महीने-दो-महीने में जब मन हुआ मैं शनिवार को दोपहर बाद हंस पहुंच जाता । एक अजीब आकर्षण था वहां जाने का । साहित्य, पत्रकारिता की दुनिया के हर बार नए चेहरे । देश भर के । वही परिचय की शैली ये अमुक और ये तमुक । वैसे ही गर्मजोशी से हरेक का स्वागत । न किसी के अचानक आ टपकने से कोई परेशानी, न उठकर चले जाने का गम । शुरू के दिनों में कभी-कभी समीक्षा के लिए कोई किताब पकड़ा देते । बिना अपना कोई मत किताब के बारे में थोपे । हर बार लगता कि मैं भी उनके साहित्य की बारात में शामिल हूं । यह सिलसिला पिछले शनिवार 26/10/13 तक कायम था ।
पिछले शनिवार 26/10/13 को अजीत राय का फोन आया कि दूरदर्शन की पत्रिका का पहला अंक राजेन्द्र जी, नामवर जी के हाथों लोकार्पित होगा । बस जाने का फैसला किया । संजीव को भी साथ जाना था । पहले इंडियन हेबिटेट सेंटर के ‘समन्वय’ में हाजिरी लगाई और फिर मंडी हाउस । मृणालिनी भी साथ थीं । 7-8 लोग बोले लेकिन उनकी आवाज सबसे खरी थी । उन्होंने कहा कि मुझे यह बात बरदाश्त नहीं होती जो कुछ हुआ वो धर्मयुग और दिनमान के समय में ही हो चुका । तो हम सब क्या अब घास छील रहे हैं । उन्होंने अतीत को ऐसी किसी भी महिमा मंडन से नफरत थी । दूसरी बात उन्होंने कही कि अभी तो पहला ही अंक है । देखते हैं आगे कैसी निकलती है । बड़ी-बड़ी बातें तो हर पत्रिका के विशेषांक में होती हैं । कहीं न आवाज में थकान थी, न चेहरे पर । लौटते वक्त हम और संजीव उनके इसी जुझारूपन की बात करते रहे और ज्योति कुमारी के प्रसंग की भी । लेकिन ज्योति कुमारी का प्रसंग कुछ देर बाद ।
लगता है जैसे अपने ही परिवार का कोई बहुत करीबी चला गया हो । मानो उनका घर अपना घर था । जहां कभी भी जाया जा सकता था और कभी भी फोन किया जा सकता था । दरियागंज में हंस का दफ्तर हो या मयूर विहार में उनके बार-बार बदलते ठिकाने । 29 अक्तूबर की रात को उन्होंने प्राण छोड़े और 30 की सुबह जब मैं बड़ौदा में था तब एक के बाद एक फोन आने शुरू हुए । छोटे भाई ओमा शर्मा का फोन मुम्बई से था । आधी बात आधी चुप्पी । एक रिक्ति का अहसास दोनों सिरों पर । 15 दिन पहले ही ओमा दिल्ली दिल्ली आए थे और हर बार की तरह राजेन्द्र जी के यहां गए और फिर लौटकर बहुत सारी बातें । शुरू में जब ओमा मेरे साथ होते तो उनका संबोधन होता लक्ष्मण के साथ आए हो । अच्छा क्या खाओगे ? सुनो किशन । सुमित्रा ! चाय बनाओ ।
मेरे जैसे हजारों पाठकों, लेखकों, मित्रों के कानों में उनके शब्द गूंज रहे हैं । अलग-अलग ढंग से । संजीव बता रहे थे कि रामदेव सिंह मुगलसराय से फोन पर रो रहे थे और संजय आसनसोल से । कम से कम दस लोगों ने तो मुझसे भी कहा कि आपके राजेन्द्र यादव चले गए । मैं उनके चेहरे की तरफ देखता हूं इन्हें कैसे पता कि वे मेरे राजेन्द्र यादव थे, यानी हर आदमी दूसरे को उनसे जुड़ा हुआ देखता था । क्या कोई और कलाकार, लेखक का व्यक्तित्व इतना लोकतांत्रिक है, हो सकता है उन्होंने लोकतंत्र के इसी स्पेश की खातिर, उसे बचाए रखने के लिए मन्नू जी से अलग रहना शुरू किया हो ।
दिल्ली में हिन्दी के लेखकों की दुनिया ज्यादातर राजनीति के इर्द गिर्द घूमती है । भले ही वे कितनी भी उससे दूर रहने का दावा करें । यहां भी राजेन्द्र यादव अपने खरेपन और स्पष्टवादिता के लिए सबसे अलग हैं । 1992 में बाबरी मस्जिद के विध्वंश के बाद जनवरी 1993 के हंस में मुस्लिम वोट बैंक उनकी समस्या, पहचान के बहाने उन्होंने आत्मालोचन करते हुए कुछ प्रसंग उठाए थे । देश में मुसलमानों की स्थिति उनके कठमुल्लेपन, महिलाओं की बदतर स्थिति और कुरान को ही अंतिम बात मानने के खिलाफ भी कई बार लिखा । हंस ने मुसलमानों पर एक विशेषांक भी निकाला । यहां तक कि शीबा असलम, फहमी ने हंस में ही मुसलमानों की कुरीतियों पर कलम और तलवार चलाई जिसके अंजाम भी उन्हें भुगतने पड़े । शीबा के घर पर तो हमला हुआ ही, हसन जमाल जैसे लेखक राजेन्द्र और हंस के खिलाफ होते चले गए । हिन्दू कट्टरपंथी तो उन्हें फूटी आंख नहीं देखते थे । हनुमान को आतंकवादी और सीता को मनमर्जी रावण के साथ जाने की बात राजेन्द्रजी ही कह सकते थे । और तो और पिछले दो तीन वर्ष से तसलीमा नसरीन का कॉलम हंस में छपता था । जी हॉं वही तसलीमा जिसे पश्चिम बंगाल की वामपंथी सरकार ने बाहर कर दिया था और इस प्रसंग पर दिल्ली के पाक साफ कथाकार, लेखक बुद्धिजीवियों की किसी व्यवस्थित टिप्पणी का इंतजार मुझे आज भी है । न हिन्दुओं का डर, न मुसलमानों की परवाह । सच्चे मायनों में 21वीं सदी का कबीर । इसलिए अच्छा लगा । पहली नवंबर 2013 की शाम हिन्दी भवन में आयोजित शोकसभा में कबीर के भजनों से शुरूआत हुई । हम न मरिह, मरिह संसारा…… । निंदक नियरे राखिए आंगन कुटी छवाय….. । बिन साबुन पानी बिना मैल दूर हो जाए ।
वाकई वे अपनी बुराई करने, आलोचना करने वालों को ज्यादा सुनते थे ।
सब की तरह मैं भी उनके संपादकीयों का दीवाना था। मैं फोन पर या सामने प्रशंसा करता तो वे बात को धुऍं की तरह उड़ा देते हैं । प्रशंसा का एक वाक्य भी पूरा नहीं होने देते थे । अरे ! ये जनसत्ता क्या तुम्हारे लिए ही निकल रहा है जाने कहां-कहां की बातें ले आते हो । मैंने कहा अरे ! आपके संपादकियों, लेखों,भाषणों से ही तो मैंने यह सब चोरी की है, सीखा है । अपनी तारीफ का भाव समझते ही तुरंत बात काट देते । और बताओ ! और कैसे हो और कहानी कब ?
साहित्य निधि प्रसंग पर बड़ी तलख बहस हुई । शायद मेरे और उनके बीच की सबसे तीखी । पता नहीं उन्हें लेख किसने पढ़कर सुनाया और वे फोन पर थे । क्या रायता फैला रहे हो । अरे ! लेखक बीमार हो जाए तो कहां जाए । ऐसे किसी पैसे से तो उसकी मदद ही होगी । ऐसा मत लिखो आदि-आदि । मैं इस प्रसंग पर विस्तार से अन्यत्र लिख चुका हूं इसलिए दोहराने की जरुरत नही । मैंने कहा कि इससे चाटुकारिता, खेमेबाजी और परजीविता ही बढ़ेगी । मैं चाहता हूं कि लेखक भी आम आदमी की तरह जीए, उन्हीं दुखों- सुखों के साथ । कब तक हम विशेष सुविधाएं मांगते रहेंगे ? कभी लेखक के नाम पर, कभी कलाकार के नाम पर तो कभी मंत्री, विधायक, नौकरशाह बनने पर । मैंने यह भी जोड़ा कि न केवल साहित्य निधि बल्कि मैं सरकार से जो आप लेखक भवन उसके लिए रहने आदि के लिए होटल धर्मशाला की मांग कर रहे हो मैं उसके भी खिलाफ हूं ……..। बावजूद इसके उनका मीठा आग्रह था अच्छा कल सुबह आओ तब बात करेगे ।
अपने से पूरी तरह असहमत व्यक्ति के साथ फिर से मिलने का ऐसा उदाहरण मैंने दूसरा नहीं देखा । शोकसभा में कथाकार संजीव ने भी ऐसी ही बातें कहीं । हर पांच मिनट पर उनसे किसी बात पर टकराव होता लेकिन छठे मिनट वे फिर उसी शांत मुद्रा से पेश आते जैसे कुछ हुआ ही न हो ।
क्या कोई और बिना लाग-लपेट के नामवर जी, नगेन्द्र जी की तरफ इशारा करते हुए बार-बार यह कह सकता है कि विश्वविद्यालय साहित्य के कब्रिस्तान है, अशोक वाजपेई की कविता और कलावाद बहुत याद रखने लायक नहीं है, पंकज बिष्ट पहाड़वाद के शिकार हैं और हिन्दी कविता बहुत फालतू की चीज है । तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री चंद्रशेखर, वाजपेयी तक को उन्होंने नहीं बख्शा । किस पर उन्होंने एक जागरूक प्रहरी की तरह उंगली नहीं उठाई और इसीलिए वे किसके दुश्मन नहीं बने ? हंस के हजारों प्रशंसक हैं तो कुछ ऐसे भी कि ‘मैं हंस नहीं पढ़ता उसमें हर बार दलित का दलिया ही परोसा जाता है ।’
कुछ और बातें भी दिमाग में चल रही हैं । रोज लेख आ रहे हैं । अधिकतर प्रशंसा में डूबे । नि:संदेह एक बड़ा नाम था हिन्दी की दुनिया के भीतर भी और बाहर भी । उनके दोस्त बासु चटर्जी जैसे दिग्गज फिल्मकार थे तो किशन समेत दूर–दूर तक फैले सामान्य लेखक पत्रकार भी । लेकिन एक बात मेरे अंदर उभर रही है कि इतना बड़ा नाम और व्यापक असर वाले व्यक्तित्व के बावजूद भी हिन्दी की दुनिया पिछले तीन-चार दशकों में छोटी क्यों होती गई ? 31 अक्तूबर 2013 को कर्नाटक राज्य का अट्ठावनवाँ स्थापना दिवस था । वहां के मुख्यमंत्री ने जनसभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि इस राज्य में जो रहते हैं, जो इन संसाधनों का उपयोग करते उन सबको कन्नड़ भाषा सीखनी पड़ेगी । हम अंग्रेजी कों एक सीमा से आगे बरदाश्त नहीं करेंगे और कन्नड़ में पढ़ने वाले हर बच्चे को अच्छी से अच्छी सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराएंगे । राजेन्द्र जी दिल्ली के दादा थे । एकछत्र सम्राट । वे लेखकों के लिए घर, दवा और पैसा, पुरस्कार मांगने से परे जाकर दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री को इस बात के लिए क्यों नहीं विवश कर पाए कि दिल्ली के स्कूलों में कम से कम दसवीं तक हिन्दी अनिवार्य रुप से पढ़ाई जाए ? क्यों दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के कॉलेजों से हिन्दी माध्यम में अध्ययन, अध्यापन गायब होता जा रहा है ? जब शिवराम कारंथ,अनंतमूर्ति कन्नड़ के लिए लड़ सकते हैं, बंगाल के लेखक और वहां के वाम बुद्धिजीवी राजनेता बंगाली भाषा के लिए तो हम क्यों नहीं । मेरा बार-बार यही कहना है कि यदि ऐसा हो तो हिन्दी लेखक भूखा नहीं मरेगा । हिन्दी के पाठक बनेंगे, बढ़ेंगे । पाठक होंगे तो किताबें बिकेंगी और किताबें बिकेंगी तो प्रकाशक भी पुस्तकालय में भरने के लिए रिश्वत नहीं देगा । कुछ पैसा लेखक को भी रॉयल्टी में मिलेगा ।
लेकिन राजेन्द्र जी ने शायद कभी ऐसे प्रसंगों को न व्यापक स्तर पर उठाया, न उनके आसपास सत्ता के करीब रहने वाली मंडली ने । शायद एक सीमा के बाद ऐसे सामाजिक प्रसंगों पर उन्हें बीच का रास्ता ज्यादा पसंद आया जिसमें हंस भी चलता रहा । उनकी छवि भी बनी रहे और सत्ता से सीधा टकराव भी न हो ।
ज्योति कुमारी प्रसंग हम सबके लिए तकलीफदेह है । मुझे राजेन्द्र जी उतने गलत नहीं लगते जितना वे लेखक और लेखिकाएं जो लेखक बनने की तड़प में सारी मान मर्यादा को छोड़ देते हैं । राजेन्द्र जी और ऐसी लेखिकाएं के प्रसंग पिछले दो दशकों में बार–बार उठे आधा सच, आधा झूठ । यहां पर व्यक्तिगत नैतिकता पर व्याख्यान देने की गुंजाइश नहीं है लेकिन जिस हंस की सवारी वे कर रहे थे उसके संस्थापक प्रेमचंद के कुछ आदर्शों को तो सामने रखने की जरुरत है ही । आखिर कुछ आदर्श तो साहित्य समाज के सामने रखेगा ही ।
खैर ! एक आध दाग तो लोग चांद में भी देख लेते हैं । एक बड़े जीवट का शख्स चला गया । एक नकली टॉंग से उन्होंने लगभग इस देश के तीनों लोकों को लॉंघ डाला था । जब तक हिम्मत रही दिल्ली और दिल्ली से बाहर हर गोष्ठी के लिए तैयार । ऐसा चैतन्य दिमाग जिसमें लाखों स्मृतियां सुरक्षित रखी थीं । किसी भी संपादकीय को उठा लीजिए ज्ञान और समझ का अद्भुत मिश्रण । मैंने कभी किसी की व्यक्तिगत आलोचना पर उनको मुखर होते नहीं देखा था लेकिन जब शब्द में लिखने की बारी आती तो न दोस्ती का लिहाज, न दुश्मनी का डर ।
ऐसे राजेन्द्रजी को मेरा और मेरी पूरी पीढ़ी का नमन ।
बार-बार याद आएंगे राजेन्द्र जी ।
