राष्ट्रपति चुनाव के लिए विपक्ष की एकजुटता के लिए लालू प्रसाद कड़ी मेहनत कर रहे हैं. 17 दल एकजुट दिखाई दे रहे हैं. लालू जी ने कहा है कि 27 अगस्त को पटना के गांधी मैदान में जो महारैली होगी उसमें समूचा विपक्ष एकसाथ मौजूद रहेगा. दिलचस्प बात यह है कि इस विपक्ष में नीतीश कुमार उनके साथ रहेंगे या नहीं यह अभी स्पष्ट नहीं है. नीतीश जी पहले भी सोनिया गांधी के घर बैठक में नहीं गए थे.
इसमें कोई शक नहीं कि बिहार विधानसभा चुनावों में भाजपा की हार के पीछे बहुत बड़ी भूमिका लालू के जबरदस्त प्रचार की थी. आज भी उनका जलवा कमजोर नहीं हुआ है. भाजपा भ्रष्टाचार के मुद्दे पर उनको घेरने में लगी है लेकिन लगता नहीं है कि उनके प्रशंसकों, मतदाताओं के ऊपर इसका कोई असर पड़ने वाला है. वे मानते हैं कि सब लालू को फंसाने की चाल है.
लालू जी, अपने राजनीतिक अस्तित्व की सबसे कठिन लड़ाई लड़ रहे हैं. भाजपा उनका जड़ ख़त्म करने में लगी है. इतिहास इस बात का गवाह है कि जब-जब लालू जी को चुनौती मिली है वे मजबूत होकर उभरे हैं. एक जमाने में उन्होंने नारा दिया था- बन डोले, बनडोला डोले, खैरा पीपल कभी न डोले.’ सच में अपने उदय के बाद वे बिहार की राजनीति के मजबूत पीपल की तरह रहे हैं.
इसलिए यह स्वाभाविक है कि राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर विपक्ष की एकता के प्रयासों से वे अपने राजनीतिक अस्तित्व को बचाने की लड़ाई लड़ रहे हैं. राष्ट्रपति चुनाव उसकी पहली सीढ़ी है.
लेकिन सब कुछ इस बात के ऊपर निर्भर करता है कि विपक्ष कितना एकपक्ष रह पायेगा? राजनीति में कब कौन दूरंदेशी हो जाए कहना मुश्किल होता है. सबसे बढ़कर नीतीश के ‘छोटे भाई’ कब बिहार के विकास के नाम पर पाला बदल लें- कहना मुश्किल है. नीतीश कुमार के लिए भी लालू के साथ लम्बे समय से चल रही राजनीतिक वर्चस्व की लड़ाई में जीतने का सुनहरा मौका है.
सब भविष्य के गर्त में है. फिलहाल लालू विपक्षी एकता की मजबूत कड़ी के रूप में उभरे हैं.
