हिन्दी साहित्य का प्रतिष्ठित ‘बनारसी प्रसाद भोजपुरी सम्मान’ वर्ष 2012 के लिए हिन्दी कविता की प्रमुख हस्ताक्षर अनामिका को, 2013 के लिए प्रसिद्ध कथाकार रणेन्द्र को, 2014 के लिए प्रमुख कवि रंजीत वर्मा को, 2015 के लिए प्रमुख कथाकार गीताश्री को, 2016 के लिए प्रसिद्ध कवि संजय कुंदन को एवं 2017 के लिए हिन्दी कहानी के प्रमुख हस्ताक्षर पंकज मित्र को दिया गया है। विदित है कि वर्ष 2012 से ही यह सम्मान चयन कतिपय कारणों से रूका पड़ा था जिसे वर्ष 2019 में वर्ष 2012 के प्रभाव से ही शुरू किया गया है।
इस सम्मान के चयन के लिए निर्णायक मण्डल के सदस्य थे- वरिष्ठ आलोचक डाॅ० खगेन्द्र ठाकुर, डाॅ० रविभूषण, वरिष्ठ कथाकार संजीव एवं कवि मदन कश्यप। यह सम्मान 28 जून 2019 को साहित्य अकादमी, दिल्ली के सभागार में प्रदान किया जाएगा। इस कार्यक्रम के विषिष्ट अतिथि होंगे प्रसिद्ध आलोचक डॉ. मैनेजर पाण्डेय, डाॅ० रविभूषण एवं डाॅ० गोपेश्वर सिंह। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता वरिष्ठ आलोचक डॉ. विश्वनाथ त्रिपाठी द्वारा की जाएगी।
यह सम्मान योजना आरा निवासी प्रेमचंदकालीन साहित्यकार बनारसी प्रसाद भोजपुरी की स्मृति में वर्ष 1989 से शुरू की गई है जिसका उद्देश्य बिहार की संभावनाशील तथा महत्वपूर्ण रचनाशीलता को सम्मानित करना है। इसके अंतर्गत प्रतिवर्ष कविता या कहानी की किसी एक विधा में उल्लेखनीय योगदान के लिए किसी एक रचनाकार को ‘बनारसी प्रसाद भोजपुरी सम्मान’ से सम्मानित किया जाता है जिसमें सम्मान-पत्र के अतिरिक्त पाँच हजार एक रूपये की राशि एवं प्रतीक चिह्न शामिल है।
अबतक यह सम्मान वर्ष 1989 में पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में अनिल चमड़िया तथा वेद प्रकाश वाजपेयी को संयुक्त रूप से, 1990 में कहानी में विजेन्द्र अनिल को, 1991 में कविता में आलोकधन्वा, 1992 में उपन्यास लेखन के लिए मनमोहन पाठक, 1993 में कहानी में सुरेश कांटक, 1994 में कविता के क्षेत्र में मदन कश्यप, 1995 में कहानी में चन्द्रकिशोर जायसवाल, 1996 में कविता में ज्ञानेन्द्रपति, 1997 में कहानी में अवधेश प्रीत, 1998 में कविता में विमल कुमार, 1999 में कहानी में हेमन्त, 2000 में कविता में बद्रीनारायण, 2001 में कहानी में ह्रषीकेश सुलभ, 2002 में कविता में निलय उपाध्याय, 2003 में कहानी में शैवाल, 2004 में कविता में निर्मला पुतुल, 2005 में कहानी में देवेन्द्र सिंह, 2006 में कविता में अनीता वर्मा, 2007 में कहानी में जयनंदन, 2008 में हिन्दी गीत में नचिकेता, 2009 में कविता में सुरेन्द्र स्निग्ध, 2010 में कहानी में रामधारी सिंह दिवाकर तथा 2011 में कहानी में ही संतोष दीक्षित को प्रदान किया जा चुका है।
इस अवसर पर बनारसी प्रसाद भोजपुरी रचनावली का लोकार्पण भी किया जाएगा।
