अरुण आदित्य का जन्म 1965 में प्रतापगढ़, उत्तरप्रदेश में हुआ।
अवध विश्वविद्यालय से विज्ञान में स्नातक की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद विधि की पढ़ाई करने इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय का रुख किया, लेकिन इलाहाबाद ने कानून का ‘क’ पढ़ाने के बजाय कविता के ‘क’ में उलझा दिया। सो कानून की पढ़ाई अधूरी छोड़ पत्रकारिता में हाथ आजमाने इंदौर पहुंच गए। इंदौर, चंडीगढ़, भोपाल, दिल्ली की खाक छानते हुए आजकल ताला और तालीम की नगरी अलीगढ़ में ठिकाना ।
कविता-संग्रह ‘रोज ही होता था यह सब’ 1995 में प्रकाशित। इसी संग्रह के लिए मध्यप्रदेश साहित्य अकादमी द्वारा दुष्यंत पुरस्कार से सम्मानित।
उपन्यास ‘उत्तर वनवास’ आधार प्रकाशन से 2010 में प्रकाशित। 2011 में दूसरा संस्करण।
पहल, हंस, वसुधा, पल-प्रतिपल, नया ज्ञानोदय, वागर्थ, साक्षात्कार, कथादेश, वर्तमान साहित्य, बया आदि पत्रिकाओं में कविताएँ प्रकाशित।
असद जैदी द्वारा संपादित ‘दस बरस’ और कर्मेंदु शिशिर द्वारा संपादित ‘समय की आवाज’ में कविताएं संकलित। कुछ कविताएं पंजाबी, मराठी और अंग्रेजी में अनूदित। सांस्कृतिक आंदोलनों में सक्रिय भागीदारी। नब्बे के दशक में कवि मित्र प्रदीप मिश्र के साथ मिलकर इंदौर से ‘भोर’ नामक साहित्यिक पत्रिका का संपादन किया, जिसका युवा कवियों पर केंद्रित विशेषांक ‘अंतिम दशक के कवि’ काफी चर्चित रहा था।
इन दिनों वे अमर उजाला अखबार में अलीगढ़ संस्करण के संपादक हैं। आइए पढ़ते हैं अरुण आदित्य की नई कविताएं- राकेश श्रीमाल

रात का दूसरा या तीसरा प्रहर था
निगाह अचानक दीवार घड़ी पर पड़ी
उल्टी दिशा में चल रही थीं उसकी सुइयां
कोने में रखे गमले में भी उग आया था विस्मय
वहां पत्तियों से हरा रंग गायब था
और फूलों से लाल
बच्चे के खिलौनों से भी हुआ था खिलवाड़
हैंड ग्रेनेड जैसी दिख रही थी क्रिकेट की गेंद
तमंचे की नाल में तब्दील हो गई थी बांसुरी
हिम्मत करके बुकशेल्फ की तरफ देखा
किताबें सिर झुकाए पंक्तिबद्ध
जा रही थीं कबाड़खाने की ओर
अचानक किसी शरारती किताब ने धक्का दिया
जमीन पर गिर गई बच्चे की ड्राइंग बुक
खुल गया वह पन्ना जिसमें उसने बनाया था
जंगल में भटक गए आदमी का चित्र
मगर ताज्जुब कि उस दृश्य से
अदृश्य हो चुका था आदमी
दृश्यमान था सिर्फ और सिर्फ जंगल
कमरे में बहुत अंधेरा था
पर उस बहुत अंधेरे में भी
बहुत साफ साफ दिख रहा था ये सारा उलटफेर
उजाले के लिए बल्ब का स्विच दबाना चाहा
कि लगा 220 वोल्ट का झटका
और इस झटके ने ला पटका मुझे
नींद और स्वप्न से बाहर
घबराहट में टटोलने लगा अपना दिल
वह धड़क रहा था बदस्तूर
सीने में बायीं तरफ
मैंने राहत की सांस ली
कुछ तो है जो अपनी सही जगह पर है।

चांदनी रात में लांग ड्राइव
तुम्हारे साथ लांग ड्राइव पर न जाता
तो पता ही न चलता
कि तुम कितने प्यारे दोस्त हो चांद भाऊ
गजब का है तुम्हारा सहकार
कि जिस गति से चलती है मेरी कार
उसी के मुताबिक घटती बढ़ती है तुम्हारी रफ्तार
एक्सीलरेटर पर थके पैर ने जब भी सोचा
कि रुककर ले लूं थोड़ा दम
तुमने भी तुरंत रोक लिए अपने कदम।
गति अवरोधक पर
या सड़क के किसी गड्ढे में
जब भी लगा मुझे झटका
तुम्हें भी हिचकोले खाते देखा मैंने।
नहीं, ये छोटी मोटी बातें नहीं हैं चांद भाऊ
तुम्हें क्या पता कि हमारी दुनिया में
हमेशा इस फिराक मैं रहते हैं दोस्त
कि कब आपके पांव थकें
और वे आपको पछाड़ सकें
आपदा-विपदा तक को
अवसर में बदलने को छटपटाते लोग
ताड़ते रहते हैं कि कब आप खाएं झटके
और वे आपकी तमाम संभावनाएं लपकें
इसीलिए मैं अक्सर इस दुनिया को ठेंगा दिखा
तुम्हारे साथ निकल जाता था लांग ड्राइव पर
लेकिन अाजकल पेट्रोल बहुत महंगा है चांद भाऊ
और लांग ड्राइव एक सपना
क्या ऐसा नहीं हो सकता
कि किसी दिन मेरी कार को अपनी किरणों से बांधकर
झूले की तरह झुलाते हुए लांग ड्राइव पर पर ले चलो
और झूलते-झूलते, झूलते-झूलते
किसी बच्चे की तरह थोड़ी देर सो जाऊं मैं।

कब्र में कसमसाती है नीरो की आत्मा
हर बात का विरोध करना विरोधियों का धर्म है
वरना एक महान हीरो था नीरो
लोग लानत भेजते हैं कि जब रोम जल रहा था
नीरो बजा रहा था बांसुरी
ऐसे लोग न सिर्फ संगीत का अपमान करते हैं
पारंपरिक ज्ञान विज्ञान का भी करते हैं उपहास
जुपिटर और अपोलो जैसे देवता भी
नहीं समझा सकते इन्हें
कि कितना संवेदनशील कला रसिक था नीरो
कि रोम के भले के लिए ही वह बजा रहा था बांसुरी
संगीतकारों, ज्योतिषियों और वैज्ञानिकों की
संयुक्त समिति ने दिया था परामर्श
कि राजा बजाएगा बाजा तो आकर्षित होंगे बादल
और बारिश होगी ऐसी झमाझम
कि बिन बुझाए बुझ जाएगी रोम की आग ।
समाजशास्त्रियों ने भी कहा था कि
बांसुरी की मधुर धुन
रोमवासियों में करेगी एकता और उत्साह का संचार
और एकजुट होकर आपदा से लड़ सकेंगे लोग।
शर्त सिर्फ और सिर्फ इतनी थी कि
आपदा प्रबंधन की इस सांस्कृतिक पहल पर
सबको बजानी होगी ताली
पर विरोधियों के बहकावे में कुछ लोग देने लगे गाली
इस तरह कुछ रोमद्रोही लोगों के असहयोग से
असफल हुआ एक महान प्रयोग
कब्र में कसमसाती है नीरो की आत्मा
काश उस समय ही हो गया होता
खबरी चैनलों का आविष्कार ।

आश्रय
एक ठूंठ के नीचे दो पल के लिए रुके वे
फूल-पत्तों से लदकर झूमने लगा ठूंठ
अरसे से सूखी नदी के तट पर बैठे ही थे
कि लहरें उछल-उछलकर मचाने लगीं शोर
सदियों पुराने एक खंडहर में शरण ली
और उस वीराने में गूंजने लगे मंगलगान
भटक जाने के लिए वे रेगिस्तान में भागे
पर अपने पैरों के पीछे छोड़ते गए
हरी-हरी दूब के निशान
थक-हारकर वे एक अंधेरी सुरंग में घुस गए
और हजारों सूर्यों की रोशनी से नहा उठी सुरंग
प्रेम एक चमत्कार है या तपस्या
पर अब उनके लिए एक समस्या है
कि एक गांव बन चुकी इस दुनिया में
कहां और कैसे छुपाएं अपना प्रेम ?

चुप रहना, बहुत कुछ कहना
चुप हूं इसका मतलब यह नहीं है
कि बोलने को कुछ है ही नहीं मेरे पास
या कि बोलने से लगता है डर
चुप हूं कि किसके सामने गाऊं या चिल्लाऊं
किस तबेले में जाकर बीन बजाऊं
जिन्हें नहीं सुनाई देती
पेड़ से पत्ते के टूटकर गिरने की आवाज
जिनके कानों तक नहीं पहुंच पा रही
नदियों की डूबती लहरों से आती
बचाओ-बचाओ की कातर पुकार
जिन्हें नहीं चकित करती
अभी-अभी जन्मे गौरैया के बच्चे की चींची-चूंचूं
भूख से बिलख रहे किसी बच्चे की आवाज
जिनके हृदय को नहीं कर जाती तार-तार
उनके लिए क्या राग भैरव और क्या मेघ मल्हार
जहां सहमति में हो इतना शोर
कि असहमति में चिल्लाना
सबको मनोरंजक गाना लगे
वहां चुप रहना, बहुत कुछ कहना है ।

एक
सोलहवीं बारिश के बाद
आदमी किसी बारिश में नहीं
बारिश की स्मृति में नहाता है।
दो
हर आदमी अपनी बारिश में
अकेले नहाता है
बारिश में नहाते हुए
कोई अकेला कहां रह पाता है
कितने ही किस्से भीगते हैं
अकेले आदमी के साथ।
तीन
तुम्हारी आंखों में घुमड़ रहे
बादल के भीतर जो भाप है
मुझे पता है, उसमें कितना ताप है?
चार
धरती के तपते चेहरे पर
ठंडे छींटे मार रहा जो बादल
वह समुद्र के खौलने से बना है
पर हुक्म है हाकिम का
कि ठंडी ठंडी फुहारों के बीच
खौलने की बात भी करना मना है।
पांच
सपनों के बादल न सपनों की बूंदें
सपनों के झूले, न सपनों के मीत
पर सपने की माया
कि स्वप्न-भर नहाया ।

बारिश जो लाती थी खुशियों के खत
कभी-कभी क्यों लेकर आती है आफत

कमलकांत : यायावर का एकांत
– राकेश श्रीमाल
(दृश्य एक : उज्जैन) एक युवा चित्रकार अपने किराए के स्टूडियो में मुझे ले जाता है। सब कुछ बिखरा है। चित्र भी बेतरतीब रखे हैं। पूरे कमरे का परिवेश चित्रों से अधिक ध्यान खींचता है। पता चलता है कि वह चित्र बनाते हुए और अपने स्टूडियो में अकेले रहते हुए निवस्त्र ही रहता है।
(दृश्य दो : भोपाल) मैं उन दिनों भोपाल में ‘कलावार्ता’ का सम्पादन कर रहा था। वह चित्रकार भोपाल के एम एल बी कॉलेज में ड्रॉइंग पढ़ा रहा था। गाहे-बगाहे शाम की झड़प भरी गीली बैठकें होती रहती। ‘कलावार्ता’ के लिए उसने एक बार मेरे कहने से 12 पृष्ठ का एक आलेख मेरे कमरे में एक रात में लिख दिया था। वह शायद आलोक चटर्जी के रंगकर्म पर था, जो इन दिनों मध्यप्रदेश नाट्य स्कूल के निदेशक हैं।
(दृश्य तीन : मुंबई) ब्रिटिश हुकूमत में आला अफसरों के लिए बने लोअर परेल स्थित घर के मेरे कमरे के वुड फ्लोर पर हर तरफ सीमेंट बिखरा हुआ है। वही चित्रकार अब मुंबई में मेरे साथ रहते हुए सीमेंट माध्यम में काम कर रहा है।
यह कमलकांत हैं। उज्जैन से भोपाल, फिर वहाँ से दिल्ली आए। पत्रकारिता करने लगे। बाकायदा पाँच-छह वर्ष। शादी कर घर बसा लिया। पत्रकारिता भी अपने अंदाज में की। कई अखबारों और साहित्यिक पत्रिकाओं में। उदयप्रकाश के साथ सन्डे मेल में काम किया। शानी ने जब ‘कहानी’ पत्रिका का सम्पादन किया तो उसमें सारा राय के साथ सह सम्पादक रहे। शानी को जब किडनी की समस्या आई, तब अपना रक्त दिया। अरुण प्रकाश के साथ हमप्याला का याराना रहा। इस दौरान ही मकबूल फिदा हुसैन, निर्मल वर्मा, नामवर सिंह जैसे कई दिग्गजों का साक्षात्कार लिया। ललित कला अकादमी में हरिप्रकाश त्यागी के साथ चित्र प्रदर्शनी लगाई, जिसका उद्धघाटन कृष्ण बलदेव वेद ने किया। तब वेद साहब ने कहा था कि कमलकांत खतरनाक आदमी है, यह व्यक्ति के भीतर के व्यक्ति को पकड़ लेता है। इसी प्रदर्शनी के बाद फिर से कला में कुछ कर गुजरने की तड़फ होने लगी। उदयप्रकाश भी उन्हें कला में ही काम करने का मशविरा देते थे। फिर अचानक अकेले मुंबई आ गए। यह जून 1995 की बात है। नई दिल्ली स्टेशन से मुंबई का सफर। साथ में कुछ रेखांकन और सीमेंट में किए कुछ रिलीफ वर्क। स्टेशन पर रंग-निर्देशक अरविंद गौड़ छोड़ने आए थे। मुंबई आकर एक-दो दिन उन अपरिचितों के यहाँ रुके, जिनके लिए वे किसी की सिफारशी चिठ्ठी लेकर आए थे। मैं उन दिनों जनसत्ता मुंबई में कार्यरत था। मेरी मुलाकात नरीमन पॉइंट के एक्सप्रेस टॉवर में हुई। वह एड कम्पनी ‘लिंटास’ में किसी से मिलने के बाद सिगरेट पी रहा था। हम अचानक मिले और तय किया कि वह मेरे साथ ही रहेगा। उसका सामान लेकर हम लोअर परेल के मेरे कमरे में आए और वर्षो बाद मिलने का जश्न देर रात तक मनाया गया।
यह घर रेलवे के लोको शेड की कॉलोनी में था। कार्नर पर ही रद्दी की एक दुकान थी। कमलकांत वहाँ से ‘इनसाइड आउटसाइड’ पत्रिका के पुराने अंक खरीदता और उसमें दिए आर्किटेक्ट के पते और लैंडलाइन नम्बर पत्रिका के ही एक पन्ने में लिखता रहता। फिर पब्लिक फोन बूथ पर जाकर सम्पर्क करने की कोशिश करता। कुछ दिनों में ही उसे हफ़ीज कॉन्ट्रेक्टर जैसे बड़े आर्किटेक्ट से काम मिला। प्लायवुड पर मोजाइक से एक डिजाइन बनाना थी। 15 हजार रुपए का काम था। आधे पैसे एडवांस मिल गए। वह खुश था और मेरे साथ किसी अच्छी जगह सेलिब्रेट करना चाह रहा था। हमने मकान मालिक के इकलौते बेटे राजीव उपाध्याय को भी साथ में लिया और उसे कलाकार की आवारगी के पाठ पढ़ाना शुरू कर दिए।
चूँकि अंग्रेजों के जमाने की उस बिल्डिंग के फ्लैट में घर की छत और फर्श दोनों लकड़ी के थे, तो टाइल्स तोड़ने के लिए वह पास के खेल मैदान की बाउंड्री पर जाता और कमरे में आकर उसे प्लायवुड पर चिपकाता। काम मिलने का यह सिलसिला चल निकला। वह एक रुपए के सिक्के इसलिए इकट्ठे करने लगा कि उससे फोन करना है। उस समय तक न मोबाईल फोन आया था और न ही पेजर। मशहूर आर्किटेक्ट उत्तम जैन ने एक बार उसे अपने ऑफिस बुलाया। उस दिन वे उसे वालकेश्वर स्थित अपने घर ले गए। वहाँ एक खाली दीवार दिखाकर कहा कि मुझे इस पर एक आर्ट वर्क चाहिए और उसमें नो चेहरे होना चाहिए। आधा पैसा एडवांस मिला और काम शुरू हो गया।
हम दोनों ही अपने-अपने काम में व्यस्त रहते हुए, एक-दूसरे के रचनात्मक एकांत और प्राइवेसी का ध्यान रखते हुए, बिना कहे-सुने परस्पर आवश्यकताओं को समझ जाते थे। मेरी निजी भाव-विहल गतिविधियों से वह भलीभांति परिचित होते हुए भी प्रतिक्रिया से बचता था। कभी-कभार उत्सुकता वश यूँ ही परोक्ष रूप में वह टटोलने का प्रयास करता, तब मैं अपने जवाब से उसकी जिज्ञासा को और अधिक उलझा देता। वह जीवन में होने वाले इस सहज मानवीय-भावुक खेल से बहुत दूर अपनी अलग महत्वाकांक्षाओं में चुपचाप जीने वाला शख्स है।
सेफरान आर्ट के मालिक दिनेश वजीरानी ने गैलरी खोलने से पहले कमलकांत के काम खरीदे थे। जब गैलरी खुली, वहाँ ड्रॉइंग का एक शो हुआ। काम बिके। विभु कपूर ने भी गैलरी बियांड खोलने से पहले उसके सात-आठ काम खरीदे। सीमेंट के काम की एकल प्रदर्शनी वर्ष 1999 में जहांगीर आर्ट गैलरी में लगाई। उसमें सभी काम बिक गए। रिलायंस सेंटर के लिए टीना अम्बानी ने भी उसका काम लिया। इसी दौरान कमलकांत ने अंधेरी में अपनी आर्ट गैलरी खोली। उद्घघाटन के दिन मूसलाधार बारिश हुई। दिल्ली से विनोद भारद्वाज और नरेंद्रपाल सिंह आए थे। स्विट्जरलैंड के एम्बेसेडर मैक्स हैलर ने उद्धघाटन किया था। गैलरी भरी हुई थी। कई बड़े आर्किटेक्ट भी थे, जैसे नितिन किल्लावाला, शिरीष सुख़ात्मे, राजीव कासर इत्यादि। उस शाम मेरी जिम्मेदारी रसरंजन की पर्याप्त व्यवस्था करने की थी।
कुछ समय बाद कमलकांत की मुलाकात आर्किटेक्ट रेज़ा काबुल से हुई। उन्होंने देश की सबसे पहली ऊंची बिल्डिंग (45 माला) ग्रान्ट रोड पर बनाई थी। उसकी लॉबी के लिए कमलकांत ने म्यूरल डिजाइन किए। अब वह पूरी तरह आर्किटेक्ट और इंटेरियर डिजाइनर की दुनिया में रम गया था। यह वह समय था, जब मैं मुंबई को अलविदा कहने की तैयारी कर रहा था। हम एक-दूसरे की खोज-खबर लेते रहते। मैं मुंबई जाता तो उसके खरीदे फ्लेट में ही रहता था। ऐसे समय मुंबई के पुराने दिनों की याद करना हम दोनों की ही कमजोरी होती। उसने कई क्लब हाऊस, लॉबी, स्वीमिंग पुल, स्कूल और बार के अलावा रेसिडेंशियल और कमर्शियल प्रोजेक्ट में काम किया। वह उसे “पब्लिक आर्ट” कहता है। रहेजा बिल्डर्स से लेकर अडानी ग्रुप में उसने कई प्रोजेक्ट किए।
कुछ वर्ष बाद उसके भीतर का कलाकार छटपटाने लगा और वर्ष 2007 से उसने कला की असल दुनिया में वापसी की। तब से अब तक वह कई एकल प्रदर्शनियां कर चुका है। उसने कला और कमर्शियल आर्ट में तालमेल बिठाना सीख लिया। बड़ोदा में खरीदे अपने नए घर में वह इन दिनों पत्थर में स्कल्पचर बना रहा है। इस लाकडाउन में उसने अपने एक बड़े शो के लायक काम कर लिया है। अक्सर शिल्पकार मकराना, बेंसराना, ब्लैक मार्बल या साउथ के ग्रेनाइट में काम करते हैं। लेकिन पिछले कुछ महीनों में कमलकांत ने इटालियन मार्बल में काम किए हैं। सिल्वासा के समुद्री तट पर जहाजों से यह मार्बल आता है। उसके बड़े-बड़े ब्लॉक को कंटेनर से क्रेन से उतारा जाता है। वहीं इसे काटने की फैक्ट्री हैं। मार्बल की कटिंग में जो छोटे पीस बच जाते हैं, उन्हें ही कमलकांत लाकडाउन के पहले ले आया था। यह छोटे-छोटे टुकड़े एक-डेढ़ फीट के होते हैं। इन पर काम करते हुए कमलकांत को नया अनुभव मिला। बड़ोदा में ही उसने अपना एक बड़ा स्टूडियो बनाया है, जो किसी गैलरी से कम नहीं लगता। लेकिन कमलकांत के भीतरी यायावर कलाकार के लिए यह स्टूडियो ही उसका एकांत है। उसने अन्य कलाकारों के काफी काम खरीदे भी हैं जो इसी स्टूडियो में देखे जा सकते हैं।
कमलकांत ने अपने काम के लिए सीमेंट, लकड़ी, पत्थर, टाइल्स, फेब्रिक, रंग, चारकोल, पेस्टल इत्यादि का समय-समय पर उपयोग किया है। वह कवि नहीं है, लेकिन उसने एक तुकबन्दी जरूर बनाई है– “कोई ऐसा माध्यम बचा नहीं, जिसमें मैंने रचा नहीं।”
