नवल किशोर व्यास रंगकर्मी हैं, अभिनेता हैं और फ़िल्मों पर अच्छा लिखते हैं। उनके कुछ लेख पहले जानकी पुल पर प्रकाशित भी हुए हैं। अभी उनकी किताब आई है ‘सिनेमागोई’, जिसकी समीक्षा लिखी है अमित गोस्वामी ने। अमित जी सरोद वादक हैं और अच्छे ग़ज़लगो हैं। आप यह समीक्षा पढ़िए-

नवल किशोर व्यास के यहाँ कुछ भी प्रत्याशित नहीं है. उनकी ज़िन्दगी में भी नहीं.. सब कुछ अनप्लान्ड.. बँधी बँधाई नौकरी एक झटके में छोड़ देना.. अचानक मुम्बई चले जाना… यूँ ही चलते चलते अमिताभ बच्चन के साथ काम कर लेना.. फिर यकलख़्त मुम्बई छोड़ देना… एक अख़बार के लिए फ़िल्मों पर कॉलम लिखना शुरू किया, तो वहॉं भी सब गड्डमड्ड.. ऐन वक़्त पर आर्टिकल पूरा करना और आनन फ़ानन में उसे भेजना.. .. सब कुछ अनायास और अप्रत्याशित. जैसे किसी मोड़ पर आ मिलता है सहसा कोई प्रेम… या छूट जाता है अचानक कोई साथ.. ठीक वैसे ही जैसे उनके पिता चले गए.. अचानक.
पिता के यूँ चले जाने ने नवल को थोड़ा ज़िम्मेदार ज़रूर बना दिया.. घर−परिवार को लेकर.. पर ख़ुद अपने लिए नवल अब भी वही है.. बाक़ायदा तौर पर बेक़ायदा…
सर्जना प्रकाशन के दीपचंद जी के यहाँ हर चीज़ तरतीब से… दीप जी का हुकुम नामा जारी हुआ कि इन आर्टिकल्स को एक किताब की शक्ल में छापा जाए… तब जाकर कहीं इन बिखरे हुए पन्नों को यकजा कर एक ख़ूबसूरत शीराज़ा सामने आया, जिसका नाम है ‘सिनेमागोई’
सिनेमागोई में हिन्दी सिनेमा, उसके गाने, किरदार, और अदाकारों पर तब्सिरे शुमार किए गए हैं. आम तौर पर फ़िल्म, उसके किरदारों या गानों की तनक़ीद मुझे बहुत फ़िगरेटिव और वर्बोस सी लगती हैं.. पर नवल हर चीज़ को बहुत बारीक नज़र से देखते हैं.. यह बारीकी बयान करते वक़्त वो जिस ज़बान का इस्तेमाल करते हैं, वह मुझे संगीत या चित्रकला के अमूर्तन के नज़दीक लगती है, जैसे कोई ध्रुपद गा रहा हो.. या कोई अमूर्त चित्र बना रहा हो.
चित्रकला में जिस ख़ूबसूरती से ख़ाली स्पेस का रूपांकन किया जाता है… वैसा अक्सर संगीत में नहीं होता है… दो ख़ूबसूरत फ्रेज़ेज की बीच गायक या वादक द्वारा छोड़ दिया गया अंतराल भी बहुत महत्त्वपूर्ण है, जिसे हम अक्सर दर्ज नहीं कर पाते हैं… शायद स्वयं गायक या वादक भी इस अनजाने में छोड़ दिए गए वक़्फ़े की अहमियत नहीं समझ पाते.. फ़िल्म संगीत में भी ये अंतराल बहुत ख़ूबसूरती पैदा करता है.. ये वही अंतराल है, जिसे हम दो डायलॉग्स के बीच में ख़ाली छोड़ दिए गए ‘पॉज़’ के तौर पर ज़्यादा बेहतर समझ सकते हैं.. कविता में भी सब कुछ साफ़ साफ़ कह दिये जाने के बावजूद जो अनकहा रह जाता है, असल में उसे भी सुना या पढ़ा जाना बेहद ज़रूरी है.. बिटवीन द लाइन्स
नवल की ख़ासियत यही ‘बिटवीन द लाइन्स’ पढ़ लेना है. किताब के पहले ही आर्टिकल “कुछ ना कहोः पंचम का विदा गीत” में नवल लिखते हैं
“इस वर्जन को सुनते हुए आप गीत से ज़्यादा उस ख़ालीपन को महसूस कर सकते हैं, जो आरडी छोड़ गए थे. कुछ ना कहो में आरडी ने अपने ख़राब समय की सारी हताशा और छटपटाहट उतारी थी, और लता ने आरडी के ना होने का अपना दुख. कुमार शानू का वर्जन जहाँ जीवन में प्यार के प्रवेश और उसका मज़बूती से उपस्थित होना है, वहीं लता का वर्जन प्यार की अनुपस्थिति और उसके छोडे हुए निशानों में डूबे बेचैन चित्त का गीत है.”
इसी में नवल आगे लिखते हैं
“क्या कहना है? क्या सुनना है? मुझको पता है, तुमको पता है—यहाँ जावेद अख़्तर की जगह कोई और होता, तो अंतरे में इस स्थिति को भूल वो सब कह देता, जिसके लिए मुखड़े ने बंदिश लगाई है. पर जावेद ने जब मुखड़े में कह दिया कि कुछ नहीं कहना, तो दोनों अंतरे भी केवल नायक के मन की आवाज़ बनते हैं, कुछ ना कहो की मनः स्थिति को क़ायम रखते हुए.
नवल को जितना जाना है, उसकी बिनाह पर मैं अक्सर कहता हूँ कि नवल की फ़िक्र उसकी अपनी उम्र से बहुत आगे है. पर ‘सिनेमागोई’ पढ़ते हुए एहसास होता है कि वह अपने दौर के पीछे भी बड़ी दूर तक देख लेते हैं. नब्बे का दशक हिन्दी सिनेमा और हिन्दी फ़िल्म संगीत के लिए के लिए कोई बहुत उत्साह जनक दौर नहीं था. यह दौर हिन्दी फ़िल्मों से स्तरीय संगीत और स्तरीय कविता के क्षरण का दौर था. इस दौर में बड़े हुए नवल को क्लासिक हिन्दी सिनेमा और फ़िल्मी संगीत की इतनी गहरी समझ और सूक्ष्म दृष्टि हासिल होना सुखद आश्चर्य है. यह नवल की सूक्ष्म दृष्टि ही है, जो सिनेमा में आए बदलाव को इतनी बारीकी से पकड़ लेती है—‘ब्लैक एंड व्हाइट धर्मेंद्र। सुशील, सुसंस्कृत और पौराणिक से. बंदिनी, अनुपमा, अनपढ़, दिल ने फिर याद किया वाले ब्लैक एंड व्हाइट धर्मेंद्र. तकनीक से हिन्दी सिनेमा में रंग क्या आए, चितेरे धर्मेंद्र बेरंग हो गए. उनकी गंभीरता और रोमांस जाते रहे और ढिशुम−ढिशुम परवान चढ़ता गया.’
नवल के लेखन में जो बात हैरतअंगेज है, वो ये कि अक्सर फ़िल्मों की समीक्षाएँ होती हैं या फ़िल्मों के संगीत की. फ़िल्मों के संगीत की समीक्षा भी होती है, तो किसी फ़िल्म विशेष के पूरे संगीत, यानी सभी गानों की. पर नवल के यहॉं अक्सर केवल एक गाने की, या उससे भी आगे जाकर कहीं कहीं केवल एक मिसरे का तब्सिरा भी देखने को मिलेगा. ‘मैं जानता हूँ कि तू ग़ैर है, मगर यूँ ही’ और ‘मुझे प्यार करने वाले, तू जहाँ है मैं वहाँ हूँ’ में बस एक एक मिसरों पर विस्तार से लिखा गया है. मैं पक्के तौर पर कह नहीं सकता और न इस बात के सबूत हैं, कि नवल ने इश्क़ किया है या नहीं.. पर जिस गहराई से वे इश्क़ को महसूस करते हैं, वो अपने आप में इस बात की ताईद है कि वे इस हादसे से दो चार हो चुके हैं. सिनेमा में उकेरे गए इश्क़ के रम्ज़−ओ−किनाया जब नवल के काग़ज़ पर उतरते हैं, तो हैरत होती है. सिलसिला के अमर गीत ‘मुझे प्यार करने वाले, तू जहाँ है मैं वहाँ हूँ’ पर केन्द्रित आलेख में वे लिखते हैं—‘प्यार तो स्त्री और पुरुष दोनों करते हैं, अलग भी दोनों ही होते हैं. दुख भी दोनों को साझा होता है. पर ये बात स्त्री से ही क्यों कहलवाई गई? क्यों कि ये पंक्ति स्त्री ही कह सकती है. दरअस्ल पुरूष अपने जीवन में ज़्यादातर किसी स्त्री से सम्मोहित होकर प्यार करते हैं, स्त्री ज़्यादातर मामलों में अपने लिये आये प्यार का सम्मान करते हुए प्यार की संभावना को जन्म देती है. ये संभावना पूरे प्यार में बदलती है या नही पर स्त्रियाँ संभावनाओं को बरकरार रखने में दक्ष होती है। पुरूष के मन में अपने लिये उग आये प्रेम को ही ज्यादातर स्त्री अपना प्यार मानती है. ज़्यादातर स्त्रियाँ आज भी प्यार करती नहीं, सामने से आये प्यार को बस स्वीकार करती हैं. भारतीय विवाह इसीलिए लंबे टिकते हैं.’ वे आगे कहते हैं—‘रिश्ते के हर संबंध विच्छेद में पुरुष अपने हलकेपन की हर प्रतिक्रिया के साथ मुखर होता है, जबकि स्त्री अवसाद के अपने तमाम गहरे दुख को अपने में समेटे शांत नदी सी.’
हिन्दी सिनेमा में ज़्यादातर कहानियाँ प्रेम केन्द्रित ही होंगी, ऐसा लगभग विधान है. यही वजह है कि ‘सिनेमागोई’ किताब में भी आलेखों का वादी स्वर प्रेम ही दिखाई देता है. नवल ने हर प्रेम को गहरे महसूस भी किया है, और प्रत्येक प्रेम को अलग−अलग परिभाषित भी किया है. ‘कभी−कभी’ के बारे में वे कहते हैं—‘नायक प्रेम नहीं मिलने पर कविताएँ लिखना बंद कर देता है, जबकि भारतीय मनोविज्ञान में तो प्रेम और प्रेम की गहरी चोट ही आपसे यादगार सृजन कराते हैं.
सिनेमागोई पढ़ते हुए बार बार मनोहर श्याम जोशी की उक्ति याद आती है कि ‘प्रेम कहानी भले ही ख़त्म हो जाए, पर प्रेम कभी ख़त्म नहीं होता.’ नवल भी लिखते हैं—‘प्रेम बंद की हुई किताब का वो मोड़ा हुआ, या अटकाया हुआ पन्ना है, जिसे कभी न कभी फिर खुलना ही होता है. यह घोषित पूर्ण विराम के बीच जमा अघोषित अल्पविराम है. प्रेम कहानियों के किरदार प्रेम को बिना शिफ़्ट−की के डिलीट करते हैं. प्रेम मन के किसी री−साइकिल बिन में मिलेगा ही मिलेगा.’
यूँ लिखने बैठें तो पूरी किताब के हर आलेख पर कुछ न कुछ लिखा जा सकता है. पर एक आलेख का ख़ास ज़िक्र करना चाहूँगा. ये आलेख फ़िल्म ‘सदमा’ के क्लाइमैक्स को समेटे है. एक अजीब सी जानलेवा कसमासाहट, कि आपके प्यार ने आपको छोड़ नहीं दिया है, बल्कि सिरे से भुला दिया है. इस हद तक, कि मानो आपका अस्तित्व उसकी स्मृति में कभी दर्ज ही न हुआ हो. यह पीड़ा जिस शिद्दत से कमल हसन ने पर्दे पर उतारी थी, ठीक वैसी ही नवल ने काग़ज़ पर उतार दी है. साकार होने से रह गए प्रेम के अनेक आख्यान गढ़े गए हैं. बल्कि ज़्यादातर प्रेम कथाएँ नामुकम्मल इश्क़ की ही प्रचलित हुई हैं. पर सदमा के सोमू की छटपटाहट यकता है. नवल लिखते हैं— ‘रेशमी की आँखों में सोमू के लिए कुछ भी नहीं है. न प्रेम, न पहचान, न घृणा, न कसक, न पीड़ा. सोमू के हिस्से में कमबख़्त इंतज़ार भी तो नहीं. प्रेम में सबसे बुरा हो जाने के बीच सबसे अच्छी बात ये होती है, कि हम अपने प्रिय की स्मृतियों का एक ज़रूरी हिस्सा होते हैं. प्रेम नहीं तो कम से कम बीते प्रेम की आत्मीयता, एक गर्माहट हो. वो भी न हो तो क्रोध हो, जलन हो, घृणा हो, कुछ भी हो.. बस अपने लिए स्मृति लोप न हो. प्रेम के लंबे और पथरीले निबंध का उपसंहार यही पल है.’
सिनेमागोई के रूप में नवल की इस पहली पुस्तक पर बधाई, और उनके उज्ज्वल भविष्य की कामना. सर्जना प्रकाशन के दीपचंद साँखला जी का अभार कि ये दस्तावेज़ हमारे सामने लाए. इस ख़ूबसूरत पुस्तक के चित्ताकर्षक आवरण के लिए अपरा को भी बधाई.
‘सिनेमागोई’ में संकलित कुल 45 आलेखों को को चार भागों में बाँटा गया है. यह खंडों का विभाजन जैसे मुझे खटका, वैसे शायद आपको भी खटके. क्यों कि अव्व्ल तो मुझे इसकी ज़रूरत नहीं लगी, और अगर किया भी जाना था, तो प्रत्येक खंड के अंतर्गत रखे गए आलेखों में एकरूपता रखी जा सकती थी.
मेरी दिक्कत यह है कि मैं जिस किताब के बारे में लिख रहा हूँ, उसके लेखक को बेहद क़रीब से जानता हूँ. इसीलिए कभी कभी हैरत होती है कि नितांत फ़िल्मी सिचुएशन पर गूढ़ इल्मी बातें करने वाला, गंभीर दार्शनिकता में लपेटे हुए जुमले लिखने वाला ये लेखक वही खिलंदड़ा दोस्त है. पर इस बेहद प्यारे और पुरख़ुलूस इंसान के साथ कुछ भी हो सकता है… ये कुछ भी कर सकते हैं. क्यों कि नवल के यहाँ कुछ भी प्रत्याशित नहीं है.
