अभिषेक ओझा का उपन्यास आया है ‘लेबंटी चाह’। यह उपन्यास एक ग्लोबल हो चुके बिहारी की स्मृतियों का कोलाज है। एक तरफ़ तेज भागती दुनिया है दूसरी तरफ ठहरा हुआ जीवन। राजपाल एण्ड संज प्रकाशन से प्रकाशित इस उपन्यास का एक अंश पढ़िए-

वक़्त के साथ चीज़ें बदलती हैं। लोग बदलते हैं। लोगों को पहचानने में भूल होती है परंतु अनुराग को अभी भी भरोसा नहीं हो पा रहा था कि राजेशजी ऐसा कैसे कर सकते हैं। राजेशजी के साथ अनुराग की बहुत अच्छी दोस्ती तो नहीं थी पर नहीं भूलने वाले मज़ेदार किस्से ज़रूर थे। कई बार फ़ील्ड ट्रिप पर आस पास के जिलों में भी राजेशजी के साथ जाना हुआ था। ये भी हो सकता है कि राजेशजी ख़ुद जुगाड़ लगा कर साथ चले आते हों।
‘सर चलिये न… आज आपको एसी बस से ले चलते हैं’ राजेशजी अनुराग को एक बार नयी चमचमाती बस में ले गए थे। शायद बस का सड़क पर पहला ही दिन था। पुजा के बाद बनाए गए स्वास्तिक का सिंदूर अभी भी बस के शीशे पर मौजूद था और शंकर भगवान की प्रतिमा पर चढ़ाये गए चमेली के फूलों की माला के साथ-साथ गेंदे की बनी लड़ियों के फूल अभी भी ताजे ही थे। लोगों के आने-जाने से बने पैरों के निशान के अलावा चमचमाता फर्श भी इसी बात की गवाही दे रहा था। लेकिन पर्दा और पंखा लगी बस में एसी जैसी कोई चीज नहीं थी।
‘एसी तो है नहीं इसमें?’
‘… अरे सर उ का है न कि बसवा का नामे है मिलन एसी कोच। हे हे हे’ राजेशजी ने अपनी मुस्कराहट को हंसी में परिवर्तित करते हुए बताया।
‘है गाँधी मैदान! हर एक माल दस रुपया’ खलासी गेट पर खड़ा चिल्ला रहा था।
‘अबे हर एक माऽल काहे बोल रहा है रे… तनी इस्टाइल से बोल – दस रुपया मूरी हाथ गोर फीरी’ – राजेशजी ने उसे समझाया।
‘दस रुपया मूरी, हाथ गोर फीरी। का समझे?’ राजेशजी ने अनुराग से सवाल किया। राजेशजी हमेशा सामने वाले को सोचने-समझने का भरपूर मौका देते।
‘किराया दस रुपया है?’
‘हाँ, यही तो खासियत है एसी बसवन का…कहीं से कहीं जाइए दसे रुपया। टेम्पू वाला को कभी बोलते सुने है नीचे बीस, ऊपर दस?’
‘नहीं कभी सुना तो नहीं। लेकिन टेम्पू वाले कैसे ऊपर बैठाएंगे?’
‘अरे दूर जाने वाला विक्रमवन सब एक सवारी त ऊपर बैठाईये लेता है माने जब जादे पसेंजर रहता है तभी। हाजीपुर साइड में जाइयेगा त दिखेगा। नीचे ठूसा के बीस आ ऊपर बैठ के एसी और व्यू दोनों का का मजा दसे रूपया में। हा हा हा!’ बगल से एक टाटा की बस गुजरी जिसके पीछे नीले रंग से बड़े-बड़े अक्षरों में वॉल्वो लिखा हुआ था। उसके नीचे काले अक्षरों में लिखा हुआ था ‘बुरी नजर वाले तेरा बेटा भी जीए, तू भी पीये तेरा बेटा भी पीये’ राजेशजी ने अनुराग को दिखाया और बोले:
‘देखिये ई दूर जाने वाला एसी बस है। उसमें दो तरह का बस होता है अभी भोलभो नया-नया चला है इसके पहिले जादे करके भीडियो कोच ही चलता था। आ इ लिखने वाला तो जो कलाकार होता है न… लेकिन एक बात है मिटाने वाला उससे भी बड़ा होता है। जानते हैं… एक बार बुरी नजर वाले तेरा मुंह काला में से मुंहे मिटा दिया। अब वो हो गया बुरी नजर वाले तेरा काला। पढके हमको ऐसा चीज याद आ गया कि… आपको का बताएं… दू घंटा तक हंसीये नहीं रुका था।’
‘लेकिन ये तो टाटा की बस है, वोल्वो कैसे हुई?’
‘अरे त भोलभो माने एसीये बस न हुआ, बढ़िया वाला एसी बस को भोल्भो कहते हैं – बस तो सब टटे का ना आएगा?’ राजेशजी ने समझाया।
‘अच्छा… वैसे वीडियो कोच में वीडियो दिखाते हैं?’
‘हाँ हाँ… जादे करके एक्सन फिलिम दिखाता है। माड-धाड़ वाला। लेकिन कवनों-कवनों में बस एक ठो खाली जगह बना दिया है टीवी रखने का। अब देखिये… बस तो ई भी बना है एसी चलाने के लिए। ऐसा है कि जब बस का बाडी बनता है तबे नाम रखा जाता है… किसी का एसी कोच, किसी का भोलभो आ किसी का?’ राजेश जी प्रश्नवाचक दृष्टि से अनुराग की ओर देखने लगे।
‘वीडियो’ – अनुराग ने राजेशजी के अधूरे वाक्य को पूरा किया। ‘आपके कहने का मतलब ये है कि इन बसों के नाम ही हैं एसी कोच, विडियो कोच और वॉल्वो?’
‘हाँ नामे न रखता है सब! लगता है आप समझे नहीं… बस का बाड़ी भी ओइसने है लेकिन अब मालिक नहीं लगवाएगा एसी आ विडियो त कहाँ से चलेगा? अब जहाँ ड्राइवर बैठा है उहाँ पायलट लिख देता है त थोड़े न पायलट आएगा बस चलाने।’ अनुराग को उसी दिन सुबह एक पान की दुकान वाले ने पानी की बोतल देते हुए कहा था – ‘ई भी बीजलेरिए है लेकिन दूसरा कंपनी का है।’ उसी प्रकार बस भोल्भो ही थी लेकिन टाटा कंपनी की !
‘भारा बढा दीजियेगा’ – कंडक्टर ने कहा।
‘तू आते ही पैसा माँग लिया कर… सवारी सब खिसियाएगा कि नहीं? थोरा देर बईठ लेने देगा तब न मांगना चाहिए… और जो गांधी मैदान दस रुपया बोल रहा है त कोई आएगा बइठे? इहाँ से कौन देगा दस रुपया? उधर से आते समय चिड़िया घरवा के बाद से खाली गांधीये मैदान बोल। दूर का कोई भी दस रूपया दे देगा लेकिन नजदीक का कौन देगा !’ – राजेशजी ने कंडक्टर को फ्री में कंसल्टेंसी दी।
‘उ पांडे को जानते हैं सर?’ – कंडक्टर को समझाने के बाद उन्होने अनुराग की तरफ अति उत्सुकता से देखते हुए कहा। राजेशजी को बड़े अद्भुत विचार आते और यूं तेजी से कह देना चाहते मानो तुरत भूल जाएँगे और कहीं अगर ऐसा हो गया तो सृष्टि में कहीं कुछ उथल-पुथल न हो जाए। ऐसा ही कुछ उनके दिमाग में फिलहाल चल रहा था जिसे वो बक देना चाहते थे।
‘हाँ – वो जो कल पांडेजी आए थे वही न’।
‘हाँ वही… सब समय-समय का बात है सर… उ पड़इया अब पांडेजी हो गया है !’ निराश होते हुए बोले।
‘जूनियर्स से बड़े बुरे तरीके से बात करते हैं वो। प्यार से बात करने से सब काम हो जाता है लेकिन’ – अनुराग ने कहा।
‘अरे नहीं सर ऊ त ठीके है। बिना उसके इहाँ काम चले वाला है? इहाँ नहीं चलेगा आपका परेम-मोहबत। आप नहीं समझेंगे यहाँ का मनेजमेंट… यहाँ परेम देखाइयेगा त जूनियर एम्प्लाई चढ़ बैठेगा।’ उन्होंने अनुराग को समझाया था। ऐसा कहने वाले राजेशजी के बारे में यही बात अब चार साल बाद पटना के लोग कह रहे थे।
‘कहाँ चढ़ बैठेगा?’
‘अरे माने चढ़ बैठेगा समझिए की मुहाबरा है। जानते हैं सर… हमलोग एक्के गाँव के हैं। बरी धूर्त आदमी है इ पड़इया… लंदर-फंदर वाला आदमी है। उ आपके साथ रहा न त… ओइसही करेगा जईसे सल्य करन को कर देता था। अब आपे बताइये करन किसी मामले में अरजुन से कम था?’ उन्होने कुछ यूं आत्मविश्वास के साथ कहा जैसे कर्ण और अर्जुन दोनों के साथ उनका रोज का उठना-बैठना था। राजेशजी में एक अद्भुत गुण था वो कुछ बोलकर इस तरह प्रश्नवाचक दृष्टि से सामने वाले की तरफ़ देखते कि वो उनसे असहमत भी नहीं सकते !
‘हमको वही नहीं बढ़ने देता है। नहीं तो जइसा एक्सपीरिएंस है कहाँ से कहाँ गए होते। हमारे मोटरसाइकल पर ही घूमा है साला जिनगी भर। ओही ज़माना से जब हमारे बाबूजी येजदी खरीद दिये थे… उस जमाना में दू गो त मोटरसाइकिले था येजदी आ जावा। आ तीन रुपया किलो पेटरौल… उस समय गाडीयो कहाँ होता था। जब हमलोग छोटा थे त गाँव में या त भोट के परचार वाला गाड़ी आता था नहीं त बालू ढोने वाला टेकटर… आ उस पर दौड़ के किसी तरह जो है सो… हमलोग चर्ह जाते थे…’ बात पड़इया से चलकर उस जमाने में पंहुच गयी।
‘चर्ह त जाते थे लेकिन अब उ थोरे ना रोकेगा आपके लिए? त अब उसी में अपना किसी तरह… जो है सो… कूदना पड़ता था’ ये बोलते समय उनके चेहरे पर चमक देखने लायक थी। ‘जो है सो कूदना पड़ता था’ बोलते हुए उन्होंने अपना सर गोलाई में घूमा कर यूं धप से गर्दन नीचे किया जैसे उनका सर ही गाड़ी से गिर गया हो। अपने चेहरे पर फूटे नाक-आँख की अजीबोगारीब आकृति बनाते हुए उन्होने आगे बताया ‘उसके बाद नाक-हाथ जो टूटे लेकिन अगले चार दिन तक जो खुशी होती थी कि गारी पर चढ़े हैं उ मत पूछिए – उ सब भी एगो समये था।’ पानी पीकर एक ठंडी आह भरी उन्होने। वो अपना गिलास साथ लेकर चलते। स्टील के गिलास की तरफ दार्शनिक की तरह देखते हुए उन्होने आगे बताया:
‘ई जब नया आया था न सर… त नेपाल से स्मगलिंग होके आता था – आ जिसके घर में आ गया समझिए कि… स्टील का बरतन!… बाप रे…आ उसके पहले जस्ता जब आया था तब त लोग समझते थे कि चानिए का बर्तन है। जानते हैं? स्टील का त एगो चाय का कप आता था कि आधा पहिले से ही भरल। कई लोग त बोलते थे… आरे एतना चाय नहीं कम कराइए। नहीं नू मालूम होता था सबको कि बस देखने ही में बड़ा है।’ हँसते हुए उन्होने बताया।
‘आ असली मजा त उसके भी पहिले आता था जब चाय दू-चार घर में ही बनता था… माने जो थोड़ा सम्पन्न टाइप के लोग थे। ई पड़इया के बाप-दादा जैसे लोग आइडिया लगाते फिरते थे कि केतना बजे कहाँ चाय बनेगा आ जाके डेरा डाल देते थे। अब कप तो घर में होता नहीं था… हुआ भी त किसी का हंडिल टूटा त किसी का मुंहे नहीं… अब उसी में चाय दिया जाता था। आ जिसको फूल के गिलास में मिल गया उसका त समझ जाइए कि… गमझा से दूनों हाथ में गिलास पकड़े-पकड़े।’ दोनों हाथ से गिलास पकड़ने का अभिनय करते हुए राजेशजी लोट-पोट हो गए।
‘चाय ठंडा जाये लेकिन उ साला गिलास कभी नहीं ठंढाएगा’
राजेशजी मौक़ा मिलते ही किसी को हड़काने से नहीं चूकते थे। एक मिस्ड कॉल के जवाब में किसी को बहुत बुरी तरह हड़काया उन्होंने – ‘रखिए फोन ! अभी तुरनते रखिए… नहीं तो ठीक नहीं होगा। अपने मिस्ड काल मारते हैं आ पूछते हैं की कवन बोल रहे हैं? रखिए नहीं तो…’
जब अपने भतीजे को लइकी दिखाने गए थे उसका क़िस्सा भी कम रोचक नहीं।
‘उ घूमने वाला होटलवा नहीं है बिस्कोमान में? उधरे आए हैं लइकी दिखाने?’ उन्होंने अनुराग को फ़ोन पर बताया था।
राजेशजी का भतीजा… इंजीनियर है इसलिए राजेशजी उसे ‘पूरे बकलोल’ कहते। ‘जानते हैं सर, एक ठो इंजीनियर बंगलउर से पर्ह के हमरे गाँव आया त पूछता का है कि पापा एतना ऊंचा बांस में झण्डा कईसे लग गया?! हम वहीं थे बोले कि भोसड़ी के तेरी अम्मा को सीढ़ी लगा के चढ़ाये थे। इंजिनियर सबसे तेज तो हमारे गाँव का बैलगाडी हांकने वाला होता है।’ इस घटना के बाद बंगलुरु रिटर्न इंजीनियर सुनते ही राजेशजी उसके ललाट पर ‘चूतिया-कम-बकलोल’ का ठप्पा लगा देते हैं – भले ही उनका भतीजा क्यों न हो।
‘अभी गोलघर क्रॉस कर रहे हैं’
‘आप तो होटल में बैठे थे न? गोलघर कैसे पहुँच गए ?’
‘हाँ सर… हैं त होटलवे में…लेकिन इ गोल-गोल घूमता है न, जब आए थे त मउरिया के पास थे, पंद्रह मिनट हुआ… अभी गोलघर क्रोस कर रहे हैं… कर का रहे हैं समझिए कि करिए गए।’ राजेशजी ने पटना के रिवोल्विंग रेस्टोरेंट में बैठे थे जिसे ‘भासा’ का ज्ञान होने से वो होटल बता रहे थे।
‘अच्छा-अच्छा, और घर में सब ठीक है? श्रीकांत कब तक है पटना में ?’
‘अरे उ बकलोल को त छुट्टीयो लेने नहीं आता है। दो सप्ताह का भी कभी छुट्टी लिया जाता है? अरे एक महीना भी घर नहीं आए त का आए?! हमलोग होते त आईटी हो चाहे फ़ाईटी अपने कायदे से चला देते। बताइये तो कोई अइसा भी जगह है संसार में जहां तिकड़म ना चले? खैर छोड़िए उ त बकलोल हइए है… हम सोचे कि आया है त दू-चार ठो लइकी भी दिखा देते हैं। लेकिन दिक्कत है… अब बंगलौर जाये चाहे लंदन है तो बिहारीये लरका न? आ हमलोग के घर का! माने अब हमलोग को तो आप जानते हैं! और लरकी सब भी एड़भांस हो गयी है… त बात कुछ बन नहीं रहा है। जानते हैं? सोसीओ-पालिटिकल कारण है इसके पीछे भी।’
‘सोसीओ-पॉलिटिकल?’
‘अरे सर, देखिये लइका बंगलौर में एंजीनियर, अब उ भले बकलोल है लेकिन लोग के त लगता है कि एंजीनियर है। त पैसा वाला पढ़ा-लिखा पार्टी ही आता है। आ दिक्कत है कि सोसाइटी के उस क्लास में सोसीओ-पालिटिकल फार्मूला लग जाता है।’ राजेशजी आगे बताने लगे।
‘अभी देखिये श्रीकांतवा गया था मिलने एक ठो लइकी से… त उ पुछती है कि ‘तुमको टइटू पसंद है? मेरे को तो बहुते पसंद है… मेरेको दुई ठो है भी’। टइटू जानते हैं न सर? – गोदना। अब श्रीकांतवा को त दिखा नहीं एको ठो भी गोदना, पता नहीं कहाँ गोदवायी थी! अब आपे बताइये मेरे घर का लरका कभी गोदना आ कान छेदवा पाएगा? कुछ भी हो अभी हमारे घर का… ऐ इधर सुनो, एक ठो स्टाटर में से मसरूम वाला आइटमवा ले आइये त…. हाँ वही… जो भी नाम हो… नाम तो सब अइसा हाई-फाई रखता है न सर! आ देगा का? त कुकुरमुता भूँज के… हे हे’
अनुराग फ़ोन पर आँखों देखा हाल सुन रहा था।
‘हाँ त सर टइटू वाला बताए न आपको, उसके बाद एक ठो दूसरी लइकी बोलती है कि बाइक कौन है तुम्हारे पास? हम लौंग ड्राइव पर जाती हूँ। अब इ पल्सर रखा है उ भी ओफिसे जाने के लिए रखा है। त उ बोलती है कि नहीं उसके कवनों फ़रेन्ड़-दोस्त के पास ड़कौटी कि त डौकटी है… उ त छोरिए महाराज ! एक ठो बंगलौर में भी देखने गया था त उ बोलती है कि हमको एक ठो ब्वायफ़रेण्ड है तुम भुलाने में हेल्प करो तब हम तुमसे सादी कर लेंगे… आ इ गया है ! जानते हैं? दो सप्ताह से जादे ही। फिलिम-विलिम देखा सब… आ एगो त काफी आजकल पीता है न सब बरका सहरवन में। उसके बाद जाके उ का बोलती है… सौरी हम उसको नहीं भूल पाउंगी! हम अइसे थोड़े न बकलोल बोलते हैं इसको। लरबक है एकदमे… अब बुझे आप? सोसीओ-पालिटिकल फारमूला? आज से बीस पचीस साल पहिले लइकी सब को उहे लोग जादे पर्हाता था जिसको अफारात में पईसा था। तो जो जादे पर्ही-लिखी लइकी है ऊ बहुते एडभांस भी है। आ बिहारी लइका सब तो खिचरी खा के रगर-रगर के पर्हा… इहे सब जो सोसियोलोजी का ज्ञान है सबको नहीं बुझाता है !’ राजेशजी के पास भरपूर ज्ञान था चाहे ‘भासा’ का ज्ञान हो, ‘मनेजमेंट’ का या फिर ‘समाज’ का।
‘बात तो आपकी ठीक है लेकिन ज़माने के हिसाब से थोड़ा पुराना विचार है। लोग भड़क जाएँगे ऐसी बात पर’ अनुराग ने कहा।
‘आरे मारिये गोली भडकने वाले को… अब हम न झेल रहे हैं। लरकी को ड़कौटी-डौकटी का एड्भेंचर चाहिए… आ हमारा घर के लड़का कहाँ से करेगा? आरे उससे जादे त पटना का कुतवो एड्भेंचर कर लेता है… हे हे हे… (अचानक अपनी ही बात पर जोश में आए राजेशजी हंसने लग गए) जानते हैं सर पटना का कुतवन का एड्भेंचर तो अइसा है कि सड़क तबे पार करेगा जब आप गाडी लेके जायेंगे… ऊ सब को अइसे सड़क पार करने में मजे नहीं आता है! जान पे खेलने का मजा पटना के कुत्ता सब से बढिया कोई नहीं सीखा सकता है!’
‘राजेशजी, ज्ञान तो ढूंढने वाला आप जैसा होना चाहिए… आप हर बात से ज्ञान निकाल लाते हैं’
‘हे हे, एक बात बताइए सर। आपको हमारे बात पे हंसी तो जरूर आता होगा?’
‘कैसी बात कर रहे हैं, आप बोलते तो सच ही हैं’
‘हाँ सर ऊ त हैये है… लेकिन अब आप जैसा कोई सुनबो त नहीं न करता है। बोलेगा कि मार सार के पकपका रहा है। ए इ नहीं नल का ही पानी लाइए…. जानते हैं सर पटना में नल का पनिया साफ रहता है। बोतल तो जालिये रहता है। पटना में पानी आ ठंढा आपको असली मुसकिले से मिलेगा। सुनते हैं कि बाजपेयीजी आये थे त उनको भी सब जालिये दे दिया था। उहे हाल किताब का है… जेतना इंजीनियरिंग-मेडिकल तैयारी का किताब है सब जाली मिलेगा आपको… ओइसे उसमें तो एस्टूडेंट का फएदे है। अब यही देखिये हिन्दुस्तान में पटना ही एकमात्र अइसा सहर हैं जहाँ सिनेमा हाल के बाहर आपको फिजिक्स भी मिल जाएगा… उसमें भी लरका सब जोडता है कि जाली खरीदें कि फोटो कापीये सस्ता परेगा।’
‘हाँ वो तो देखा मैंने…’
‘सर, बस देख के आप कितना देखेंगे? आपको एक ठो और बात बताते है, जानते हैं हम लोग कैसे पत्रिका पढते थे? वैसे आपका बिल तो नहीं उठ रहा? काहे कि हम तो ख़ाली बैठे हैं।’
‘अरे नहीं राजेशजी… बताइये-बताइये’
‘अब हर महीना केतना पत्रिका खरीदेंगे? दू-चार सौ रूपया त उसी में लग जाएगा… त हम लोग तीन-चार लरका अलग अलग दुकान पे जाके अलग अलग पत्रिका चाट जाते थे। उसके बाद एक-दूसरे को बताते थे कि कवन वाला में क्या काम का है। ऊ सब जाके फिर से दूसरा दुकान में पर्ह आते थे। आ कभी कभी… किसी दोस्त से खरीदवा भी देते थे! हे हे हे। अब ऐसे तो पढ़े हैं हम लोग… हमारा अगला पीढ़ी भी ओइसहीं पढ़ा है। श्रीकंत्वा जब छोटा था त एतना बदमास कि अपना छोटा भाई के पीठ में पेंसिले घोंप दिया था। आ हम लोग के बचपन में तो बाढ़ आता ही था आ फिर घरे-घर ठेहुना पानी। एक मिनट सर… का रे हीरो ! कुछ बात बना ? सर, आ गया श्रीकांत… ’
‘ठीक है मैं आपको फिर कभी कॉल करता हूँ… अभी आप निकलिए। वैसे भी रात हो रही होगी।’
‘रात का डर नहीं है सर, … लेकिन ठीक है हम भी थोडा सलाम-परनाम कर लेते हैं।’
‘ठीक है नमस्कार!’
