28-29 मार्च, 2023 को ‘हिंदी साहित्य पर पश्चिमी प्रभाव और देशज प्रतिमान’ विषय पर दो दिन की विचार गोष्ठी का आयोजन दिल्ली के इंडिया इंटरनेशनल सेंटर की एनेक्सी में किया गया। आयोजन डॉ. बी. आर. अम्बेडकर विश्वविद्यालय, दिल्ली की साहित्य अध्ययन पीठ के देशिक अभिलेख-अनुसंधान केंद्र (सीआए-आईआईएलकेएस) ने किया।
गोष्ठी का केंद्र बिंदु जिन प्रश्नों के इर्दगिर्द बुना गया था, उनमें प्रमुख थे कि साहित्यिक विधाओं की भारतीयता का क्या तात्पर्य है, तथा क्या भारतीय साहित्य सिद्धांत की आज कोई प्रासंगिकता है? जैसा कि आलोचक वैभव सिंह ने विचार गोष्ठी के बीज पत्र को प्रस्तुत करते हुए कहा कि “वर्तमान पीढ़ी आलोचना व साहित्य की पूर्व-परम्पराओं को विस्मृत कर रही है। उससे बौद्धिक जुड़ाव भी बाधित हो रहा है।” उन्होंने इस क्रम में गोष्ठी के वक्ताओं के समक्ष कई सवाल रखे, जिनमें प्रमुख थे कि “क्या इस समस्या से उबरने में पश्चिम बनाम पूरब, यूरोप बनाम भारत, अंग्रेज़ी बनाम हिंदी, राजनीति बनाम संस्कृति, वर्ग बनाम अस्मिता के विचारधारात्मक द्वैत से संचालित बौद्धिकताएँ मददगार हो सकती हैं? क्या हिंदी आलोचना के इतिहास को नई दृष्टि से समझने की कोशिश नये रास्ते खोल सकती है? क्या दलित, ओबीसी, स्त्री और मार्क्सवादी विमर्श का इन सिद्धांतो से कोई समायोजन संभव है, या इन विमर्शों के प्रभाव में ये सिद्धांत हमारे किसी काम के नहीं रह गए हैं? पुराने पाठों को पढ़ने का कोई विउपनिवेशीकृत तरीका भी है या इसके लिए हमें पश्चिमी साहित्यशास्त्र के पास जाना ही पड़ेगा? क्या पश्चिम का प्रतिवाद हिंदी साहित्य-चिंतन का एक संभव एजेंडा बन सकता है?” गोष्ठी में दो दिनों तक इन मुद्दों पर जमकर चर्चा हुए। कई नई स्थापनाएं सामने आईं, कई समस्याग्रस्त पदों पर नई रोशनी पड़ी और जैसा कि किसी बौद्धिक गोष्ठी के लिए स्वभाविक है, अनेक मुद्दे अनसुलझे भी रहे।
गोष्ठी में कवि उदयन वाजपेयी ने ‘औचित्य-विचार व शृंगार’ विषय पर अपना मत रखा। औचित्य विचार की व्याख्या करते हुए उन्होंने कहा, हम सब एक दूसरे से विशिष्ट इसलिए हैं, क्योंकि हमारी औचित्य बोध अलग है और इसकी चेतना ही हमें सृजनशील बनाती है। इस औचित्य बोध के आत्मबोध से ही सृजन किया जाता है। एक साहित्यिक रचना में इस औचित्य बोध से जब सौन्दर्य की रचना होती है तो उसी समय एक विशिष्ट नैतिक बोध भी अनुस्यूत हो जाता है। चूँकि यह नैतिक बोध अन्य प्रकार के बोध से अलग होता है, इसके कारण यह हमारे कार्यकलापों को प्रश्नांकित करता है। राजनीति एक औसत नैतिक बोध से कार्य करती है, जब पाठक ऐसी कृति को पढ़ता है तो उसके भीतर विवेक और वह विशिष्ट नैतिक बोध उत्पन्न होता है जिससे वह राज्यसत्ता द्वारा व्यवहृत औसत नैतिक बोध को प्रश्नांकित करने में सक्षम होता है।”
जबकि आलोचक मदन सोनी ने ‘आलोचना की भारतीयता’ निमित्त कहा कि “हमारे आलोचना कि समस्या यह नहीं है कि वह पश्चिम से प्रभावित है, उसकी समस्या किसी विजातीय जमीन पर रोपे गये उस पौधे की तरह है जो निरंतर कुपोषण का शिकार बनाये रहते हुए एक ओर अपनी मूल जातीय पहचान खो चुका होता है, और दूसरी ओर उस जमीन से अपनी पहचान अर्जित नहीं कर पाता जिस पर उसे रोपा गया होता है। हमारी आलोचना का विद्रूप का स्रोत इस दोहरे अलगाव में है।”
प्रो. नन्द किशोर आचार्य ने ‘रस की अवधारणा’ पर कहा कि “साहित्य रचना की प्रक्रिया हो, सम्प्रेषण की प्रक्रिया हो और उस प्रक्रिया की जो व्याख्या रस सिद्धांत या दृष्टि करती है वो एक प्रकार से आत्म और स्व के पार्थक्य पर टिकी है, और जो उस पार्थक्य के आग्रह के कारण से जीवन के एकत्व पर आघात करती है उसका एक सौन्दर्यशास्त्रीय प्रतिवाद रस में द्रष्टव्य है।”
गोष्ठी का एक सत्र ‘मार्क्सवादी, स्त्री, दलित, ओबीसी और आदिवासी विमर्श’ पर केंद्रित था। इस सत्र में असम विश्वविद्यालय के डॉ प्रमोद रंजन, दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय डॉ. सुजाता चोखेरबाली और प्रोफेसर संजीव कुमार ने अपनी राय रखी।
प्रमोद रंजन का वक्तव्य ‘बहुजन साहित्य के प्रश्न’ पर केंद्रित था। अपनी बातों को रखते हुए बहुजन साहित्य की अवधारणा को पेश की। उन्होंने कहा कि ऐसा माना जाता रहा है कि महराष्ट्र में 1972 में दलित पैंथर की स्थापना से दलित साहित्य की शुरुआत हुई, जबकि वास्तविकता यह है कि दलित साहित्य उससे पहले से चला आ रहा था। दलित पैंथर ने दलित साहित्य को जन्म नहीं दिया बल्कि सिर्फ व्यापक बनाया, या दूसरे शब्दों में कहें कि उसका भूमंडलीकरण किया। इस तथ्य को नहीं जानने के कारण न सिर्फ साहित्य के इतिहास संबंधी हमारी समझ गड्मड् हो जाती है, बल्कि हम उन तंतुओं को भी समझने में असफल रहते हैं, जिन्होंने इसे निर्मित किया है। दलित पैंथर का जन्म अमेरिकी-अफ्रीकी लोगों के ब्लैक पैंथर की तर्ज पर हुआ था और दलित साहित्य में इसके दायरे में सिर्फ अनुसूचित जातियां नहीं बल्कि सामाजिक रूप से वंचित अन्य समुदाय भी थे। बाद में इस धारा का जोर अस्पृश्यता से मुक्त होने तक सीमित हो गया। यह एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण और कठिन कार्यभार था, लेकिन इसके दायरे को अब फिर से विस्तृत करने की जरूरत है।
प्रमोद रंजन ने अपनी वक्तव्य में कहा कि पिछले कुछ समय से भारत के विभिन्न हिस्सों में साहित्य पर केंद्रित ऐसे अनेक कार्यक्रम होने लगे हैं, जिनमें किसी-न-किसी रूप में ‘बहुजन साहित्य’ शब्द-बंध का प्रयोग किया जा रहा है। सन् 2017 में जयपुर में ‘बहुजन साहित्य महोत्सव’ मनाया गया, जिसमें ‘समकालीन साहित्य में बहुजन चेतना’ पर विस्तार से चर्चा हुई थी। सन् 2018 में जवाहर लाल नेहरू यूनिवर्सिटी में ‘बहुजन साहित्य संघ’ की स्थापना की गयी और ‘बहुजन साहित्य की अवधारणा और सौन्दर्यबोध’ समेत बहुजन साहित्य से सम्बन्धित अन्य कार्यक्रम हुए। बनारस हिन्दू यूनिवर्सिटी में ‘बहुजन साहित्य:दशा और दिशा’ विषय पर गोष्ठी हुई। ऐसे दर्जनों कार्यक्रम हो रहे हैं, जिनमें बड़ी संख्या में लोग भागीदारी कर रहे हैं। इन कार्यक्रमों को गूगल अथवा फेसबुक के सर्च इंजन में आसानी से तालाशा जा सकता है। हिन्दी के अतिरिक्त मराठी, गुजराती और तमिल में भी बहुजन साहित्य पर केंद्रित आयोजनों के होने की सूचनाएँ मिल रही हैं। तेलांगना में बहुजन साहित्य अकादमी सक्रिय है, जिसका एक बड़ा आयोजन पिछले दिनों दिल्ली में हुआ था। इस प्रकार केरल में बहुजन साहित्य अकादमी स्थापित हुई है।
ये आयोजन बहुजन अवधारणा के तहत होने वाले दलित,आदिवासी, मध्यवर्ती जातियों; जिन्हें भारतीय संविधान में ओबीसी कहा गया है; तथा हमारे विमर्श के दायरे से अलक्षित रहे अन्य सामाजिक समूहों की संस्कृति और साहित्यिक अभिव्यक्तियों में व्यक्त मूल्यों के साझेपन को अपने-अपने तरीक़े से चिह्नित कर रहे हैं। साथ ही इनमें सामाजिक स्तर पर द्विजवाद से संघर्ष के मुद्दों के साझेपन की तलाश की जा रही है। इन आयोजनों के संदर्भ में महत्त्वपूर्ण यह भी है कि इन कोशिशों के पीछे कोई सुव्यवस्थित संगठन नहीं है, बल्कि यह स्वयमेव हो रहा है।
उन्होंने इस बात पर विशेष तौर पर गौर करने की आवश्यकता को रेखांकित किया किया कि साहित्य, संस्कृति को देखने का यह नया नज़रिया क्यों विकसित हो रहा है?
डॉ प्रमोद रंजन ने कहा कि बहुजन अवधारणा जाति व्यवस्था से उपजे अन्य कष्टकारी स्वरूपों को भी शामिल करते हुए भारतीय आवश्यकताओं के अनुरूप विकसित हो रही है। इस अवधारणा का सूत्र वाक्य ‘बहुजन हिताय बहुजन सुखाय’ है। यह अवधारणा जाति के स्थान पर विचार को प्रमुखता देती है। इसमें वंचित तबके आदिवासी, घुमंतू जातियां, अन्य धर्मों के पसमांदा, LGBTQ समुदाय मुख्य रूप से शामिल है।
उन्होंने कहा कि आधुनिक काल में हिंदी में भिक्खू बोधानंद (1874-1952) से ‘बहुजन अवधारणा’ की शुरूआत को हम देख सकते हैं। उनके शिष्य चन्द्रिका प्रसाद जिज्ञासु (1885-1974) ने ‘बहुजन साहित्य की अवधारणा’ को प्रसारित किया था। इतिहास के पन्नों में इस धारा के खो जाने की मुख्य कारणों में से एक कारण था ‘भारतीय साहित्य को अपनी दृष्टि से न देखना।’ बहुजन अवधारणा की सैद्धांतिकी बुद्ध की वैज्ञानिकता की नींव पर खड़ा है, जिसका जोर नित नई खोजों पर दृष्टि रखने के लिए प्रेरित करता है। रंजन ने यह भी कहा कि, बोधानंद की पुस्तक- ‘भारतवासी और आर्य’ , त्रिवेणी संघ का घोषणापत्र ‘बिगुल’ का पाठ बहुजन साहित्य के संदर्भ में होना चाहिए।
आलोचक संजीव कुमार ने ‘आलोचना- जितनी मार्क्सवादी, उतनी ही हिंदी’, विषय पर हिंदी की मार्क्सवादी आलोचना को रेखांकित करते हुए बताते है कि हिंदी की मार्क्सवादी आलोचना कभी एकास्म नहीं रही और न ही भारतीय बनाम अभारतीय, पूरब बनाम पश्चिम, परम्परा बनाम आधुनिकता, जैसी कोई केंद्रीय विचार श्रेणियां रही। उन्होंने कहा कि “न तो अल्पमत में धकेले गये मार्क्सवादियों ने कथित परम्परा भंजन में भंजन जैसी कोई चीज थी, न ही बहुमत द्वारा स्वीकृत परम्परा के संतुलित द्वंद्वात्मक मूल्यांकन में कोई विशेष संतुलन और द्वंद था। अलबता इन दोनों पक्षों हिंदी के साहित्यिक परम्परा में अवगाहन सराहनीय और संस्मरणीय है। इस लिहाज से हिंदी की मार्क्सवादी आलोचना जितनी मार्क्सवादी रही है उतनी ही हिंदी भी रही है। जहां-जहां उसने ज्यादा हिंदी होने की कोशिश की है, हिंदी साहित्य के प्रति अतिरिक्त गौरव बोध जगाने के प्रति कोशिश रहा है वहां वह समस्याग्रस्त रहा है।
प्रोफेसर संजय कुमार ने ‘पाठ और साहित्य में गायन’, विषय पर बोलते हुए कहा कि आधुनिक पश्चिमी सभ्यता और उसके साथ-साथ आये प्रिंट कल्चर से नतीजा यह निकला कि साहित्य श्रेणी में जो वाचिक था उसको एक तरह से बहिष्कृत कर दिया, इससे यह मानने की शुरूआत हो गयी कि लिखित साहित्य ही साहित्य है। उन्होंने संगीत और गायन कला की महत्ता बताते हुए उसे साहित्य से जोड़ने पर बल दिया।
आलोचक गरिमा श्रीवास्तव ने ‘हरदेवी का वृत्तांत’ में श्रीमती हरदेवी के बारे में अपने ताजा शोध के बारे में बताया। उन्होंने कहा कि श्रीमती हरदेवी 1887 में उत्तर-भारत से शिक्षण-यात्रा पर लन्दन जाने वाली पहली हिन्दी भाषी स्त्री हैं। उनके लन्दन-यात्रा और लन्दन जुबली शीर्षक वृत्तान्त भी हैं। एक बहुत प्रगतिशील परिवार से ताल्लुक रखने के बावजूद भी एक स्त्री का पढ़ाई के लिए उत्तर भारत से लन्दन जाना उन दिनों एक बड़ी खबर थी। इस खबर को कई अंग्रेजी और हिन्दी पत्रों ने इस खबर को सुर्ख़ियों में रखा। उनकी लन्दन यात्रा अकारण और निरुद्देश्य नहीं थी, वे लन्दन रहकर पढ़ीं वहां की संस्कृति को नज़दीक से देखा और पहले की अपेक्षा तीक्ष्ण दृष्टि सम्पन्न होकर भारत लौटीं। पुरुषों की दुनिया में श्रीमती हरदेवी ने अपनी उच्च शिक्षा के लिए कैसे स्पेस बनाया होगा, यह वास्तव में विचारणीय है।
पाठांतर के साथ कोई आख्यान कैसे परिवर्तित होता है और पहचान कैसे आमूल-चूल रूप से बदल जाती है इस बदलाव के क्या निहितार्थ होते हैं, इन प्रश्नों पर केंद्रित अपने वक्तव्य के माध्यम से डॉ. तृप्ति श्रीवास्तव ने ‘कबीर की पहचान के बदलते आख्यान’ को रखा, कबीर की वर्तमान छवि बनने में दो धाराओं की मुख्य भूमिका है। पहली प्राच्यवादी जिसमें कबीर को धर्मगुरु, भारत का मार्टिन लूथर, रहस्यवाद और पंथ संस्थापक बताया गया है, जबकि दूसरी धारा भारतीय है जिसमें कबीर का ब्राह्मणीकरण और अवतारीकरण किया गया है।
संगोष्ठी में ‘विधाओं की भारतीयता का प्रश्न’ केंद्रित सत्र का उद्देश्य साहित्यिक विधाओं की भारतीयता से क्या तात्पर्य है्र इसे समझना था। इस सत्र में बीएचयू के प्रो. राजकुमार ने ‘विधाएँ-छापेखाने के इधर-उधर’ विषय पर, बीएचयू के प्रो. आशीष त्रिपाठी ने ‘हिंदी नाटक’ विषय पर तथा अम्बेडकर युनिवर्सिटी के प्रो. सत्यकेतु सांकृत ने ‘विधाओं पर पश्चिमी प्रभाव’ विषय पर अपनी-अपनी बातों को रखा।
संगोष्ठी में ‘भारतीय साहित्य सिद्धांत की प्रासंगिकता’ पर केंद्रित सत्र की अध्यक्षता प्रो. सुधीश पचौरी ने की। इस सत्र में जेएनयू के प्रोफेसर रमण सिन्हा ने ‘प्रासंगिकता के व्यापक आयाम’ विषय पर, प्रो. विनोद शाही ने ‘भाषा-चिंतन का संदर्भ’ विषय पर तथा प्रो. विश्वनाथ मिश्र ने ‘प्रामाणिक भविष्य का प्रश्न’ पर अपनी बातें रखीं।
गोष्ठी का उद्घाटन वक्तव्य वरिष्ठ कवि एवं कला-मर्मज्ञ अशोक वाजपेयी ने दिया। समाज विज्ञानी अभय कुमार दुबे ने गोष्ठी की संक्षिप्त प्रस्तावना रखी। गोष्ठी का समापन वक्तव्य आलोचक एवं मीडिया विश्लेषक सुधीश पचौरी ने दिया। संगोष्ठी का स्वागत वक्तव्य डॉ. नितिन मलिक (कुलसचिव, अम्बेडकर विश्वविद्यालय) द्वारा दिया गया।
