1) नीलामघर
रुकनपुरा से शुरू होते
फ़्लाईओवर के ऊपर
फ़र्राटे मारती गाड़ियों में नहीं
ठीक उसके नीचे
जहाँ अंबेडकर पथ आ मिलता है
बिल्कुल वहीं
भोर होते ही एक भीड़
उमड़ती है
ये मॉर्निंगवॉकर लोग नहीं हैं
न ही नक़ली ठहाके लगाते लोग
ख़ाली पेट !
पेट के लिए जमा
खुसुर-फुसुर किए जाते
ढूँढ़ती हुई निगाह
रुकने वालों पर डालते
दौड़ पड़ते हैं
बोली लगने लगती है
चेहरों की
नहीं… नहीं
ख़ाली पेट की
कुछ चेहरे वापस लौट रहे हैं
बिना नीलाम हुए
जिसका मलाल
उन पर साफ़ दिखता है
ऐसा नहीं है कि
इन चेहरों की जरूरत
शहर को नहीं है
पर, वह अपने सपनों की ईंट
थोड़ी और सस्ती जोड़ना चाहता है
और ये चेहरे
अपनी भूख की कीमत पूरी चाहते हैं
आप अंदाज़ा लगाइए
इस मुक़ाबले में कौन जीतेगा?
बिल्कुल सही,
शहर और उसके सपने
जब तक कि भूख अपनी सीमा-रेखा

रंग मल रहे हैं
अपने हिस्से के दुख से बेखबर
उधार की शराब-सिगरेट की
ख़ुमारी में डूब रहे हैं
इस घड़ी में
बर्बाद होती फसल नहीं है
पिता के फटे जूते नहीं हैं
माँ की पैबन्द लगी साड़ी नहीं है
अभी वे बेरोज़गार नहीं हैं
अभी वे लाचार नहीं हैं
कुछ घड़ी बाद
डीजे की धुन धीमी पड़ती है
अंत में आख़िरी साँस की तरह
टूट जाती है
रंग-बिरंगी लाइटों के बुझते ही
लड़के पसीना पोंछ रहे हैं
वे फिर से बेरोज़गार हैं
वे फिर से लाचार हैं।

एक झटके में
होता सीना चाक ग्लेडिएटरों का
टप–टप गिरता खून
रेत में जा सूखता
लगते थे ठहाके
पवित्र रोम के अभिजातों के
साक्षी है कोलोसियम
एक आश्चर्य
सभ्यता का
एक शरीर के चूकते ही
आ जाता दूसरा शरीर
ग़ुलामों का
मज़दूरों का

उसी अनुपात में ग्लेडिएटर बढ़ते जा रहे हैं
जोड़ियाँ तय की जा रही हैं
अभिजात आज भी इन अखाड़ों में
पैसे लगा रहे हैं
पैसा बना रहे हैं
सीरिया, इराक़, अफगानिस्तान जैसे
विशाल एम्फ़ीथिएटरों में
किसान–मज़दूर एवं ग़ुलामों के बेटे
लहूलुहान हो रहे हैं
यथार्थ जानने से पहले ही
चूक जा रहे हैं
हालात वही हैं
बस
औज़ार बदल गए हैं
हम राष्ट्रवाद के नारों के बीच
ग्लेडिएटरों को गिरता देख रहे हैं
रेत पर, मिट्टी पर
कहाँ देख पा रहे हैं
कि हर मुकाबले के बाद
हमारे बीच के लोग
कम होते जा रहे हैं।
5) कुछ हिस्सा
तुम लोकतंत्र को पूरा लाना चाहते हो न
तो सुनो
इस लोकतंत्र का कुछ हिस्सा
एक-दूसरे से पीठ सटाए
उन चार शेरों के बीच पड़ा है,
जो हर समय, हर जगह मुँह फाड़े नज़र आते हैं
वहाँ जाओगे?
वह जो चक्र है न तुम्हारा
चौबीस तीलियों वाला
कभी अनवरत कर्म का प्रतीक रहा होगा
चौबीस घंटे
देश प्रगति के पथ पर
अब उसे अपनी गाड़ियों के पहियों में फिट कर
मनचाही गति देते हैं वे
उनकी मनमर्ज़ियाँ चलेंगी
चक्र केवल आगे नहीं, पीछे भी चलेगा
वे जब चाहें रोकें, जब चलाएँ
तुम्हारे लोकतन्त्र का कुछ हिस्सा
उन पहियों में फँसा पड़ा है
उसे निकालोगे?

इन दिनों
देहरी पर बेसाख़्ता
जा जाकर
निहार बैठता हूँ गली
याद आते हैं पिता

बिटिया
घर से निकलती है
घूम-घाम

पिता की आँखों में
ढूँढ़ती है कुछ

वह
लुधियाना की टायर कम्पनी में
रबड़ के साथ
खुद को गलाता
रह–रह खाँसता
गृहस्थी की गाड़ी खींचता
घिसता हुआ टायर है
चिमनी का धुआँ कम होते ही
कम्पनी उसके सामने परोसती है
