बच्चों को न सुनाने लायक बाल कथाएँ सीरिज़ की यह 23 वीं कथा है। लव-जिहाद के शोर के इन दिनों में प्रसिद्ध लेखिका मृणाल पाण्डे ने इस बार लोक की एक प्रेम कहानी उठाई है और उसकी हूक का बयान किया है। आप भी पढ़िए-

(हिंदी में बेहतरीन प्रेमकथायें क्यूं नहीं लिखी जातीं? सालों पहले एक परदेसी समालोचक (गॉर्डन रोडरमल) ने पूछा था ।बाद को सुना उसने आत्महत्या कर ली।प्रेम पर पहरा देनेवाला संतरी अपनी प्रेत आंख से झील से उगता अस्त होता समय कुछ अलग तरह से देखने लग पड़ता है। हर नया दिन, नया मृत्युदंड।
हिंदी की प्रेमकथा बेबस औरत की तरह सूनी चौखट पर खडी सहृदय का इंतज़ार करती रहती है: न पूरी तरह कथा के भीतर, न बाहर।
जनम भर बाप-मां से तुम-उससे शादी-नहीं-करोगे-जिसे-तुम-चाहते –हो-बल्कि-उससे-जिसे हम –चाहते हैं, सुनता आया औसत हिंदी लेखक आदि- मध्य- अंत की ज्यामिति पढा है। तमाम ताखों, दरीचों वाली धूलधूसरित पुरानी कथा के भूलभुलैये में भटकता कथावाचक प्रेतकथा की खामोश रहियो- कि- जइयो, चितवन का के करे? कहानी का पिछला छोर खोजे, तो उसे आगे खड़ा पाता है। आगे नकेल थामने भागा गया तो ऐसी दुलत्ती पडती है कि सालों पीछे उछल कर जा गिरता है।
कथा अनबनती बनी तिरछी चितवन से धूल झाड़ते उसे फिर भी टकटकी लगाये जोहती रहती है।
हाय गॉर्डन तुम न समझे हो न समझोगे एगो बात। दे और उसको दिल जो न दे तुझको ज़ुबां और…
इस बार की कथा कुछ ऐसी ही है ।झील के किनारे पेडों के झुरमुट में धोबनवाली दरगाह नाम की लगभग ओझल इमारत से सूखे पत्ते की तरह उड़ कर बमुश्किल बाहर आई)
मूल कथाकार था उस दरगाह का फटेहाल एक स्वयंभू चौकीदार। याद संभालने के बाद से वह हमेशा से इस जगह का रखवाला था।
कोई जनमदाता रहा होगा भी, तो उसका के पतो बीबी?
वह और उसीकी तरह पुरानी मज़ार की इमारत में जने कब आ गई दो बिल्लियाँ हाते में बने एक बिना खिडकीवाले तंग कमरे में या सहन में पड़े रहते थे। उसका काम था दरगाह में झाडू देना, जुमे को लोबान जला देना, क्यारी में पानी देना।खा पी कर सो रहना। अउ का?
हर मज़ार की कहानी के दस रास्ते। दस दरवाज़े।
किसी दरवाज़े से घुस कर सीधे चलो तो कहानी नौ दो ग्यारह।
एक दरवाज़ा खुला।
कहते हैं यह किसी शहंशाह के धोबन के इकलौते बेटे की मज़ार थी।
माँ शहंशाह के हरम से ला-ला कर बेटे की मदद से झील के पानी में शाही बेगमात के कपड़े धोती थी। कपड़ों में शहंशाह की इकलौती शहजादी के भी हुआ करै थे कपड़े। नफीस।
बेलबूटेदार, अतर से महकते वैसे कपड़े उसी के तो हो सकते थे, धोबन ने बेटे को एक पोशाक की सुगंध से चकराते देख कर कहा। तौ बेटी बस समझो कि उस कमनसीब के लिये मौत का फरमान लिखवा दिया।
उस बखत उसे के मालूम? यही खराब बात होती है मांओं में। बक बक करती रहेंगी बगैर जाने कि कितने कान चौकन्ने हो कर सुनते हैं हर पल। सो इत्ता कह के धोबन तो नाँद में नील घोलने चल दी, पर धोबन का बेटा उसके बाद दम साधे अपनी अम्मा के शाही महल से धुलने के कपडों की गठरी ले कर घर आने का इंतिज़ार करै।
झील किनारे धुलाई का दिन तय था। उस रोज़ आगे-आगे गठरी लिये धोबन, पीछे पीछे बेटा। गठरी खुली नहीं कि सबसे पेश्तर वो सूंघ-सूंघ के शहजादी के ही कपड़े गठरी से निकाल कर अलग रखता जाता। फिर सबसे बाद को खुद्द उनको खास अहतियात से धोता। उसकी उंगलियों के दस पोर दस आंखें बन जाते। जोड़े की आस्तीनें उंगलियों से रगड़ता तो उसे लगने लगता एक नाज़ुक सा हाथ थामे है हाथ में।
लडका अपने ही धागों में लिपटा मकड़ा बनने लगा। उसके कान उसका दिल सब पत्थर पर पछीटे जाते दूसरे कपड़ों से दूर नरमाई से पोशाकों की एक एक सलवट सफा करता। गंदगी का नामोनिशान नहीं। अजी बहुत नफीस तबीयत होंगी पहननेवाली साहब!
तौ बिटिया जानो के जैसे ही शहजादी के कपडे जल में डलते, हवा में खुशबुएं तैरने लगतीं। बादल नीचे झुक जाते आसमान तो पानी में ही उतर आतो। धोबन का बेटा बादल और आसमान की परछाइयों से कहता, हटो, जानते नहीं ये किसकी देही पर डलते हैं?
जल में बडी नरमाई से धोबन के बेटे की उंगलियां ढाके की मलमल, चीन का रेशम, ज़रदोज़ी का काम सब को सहला सहला कर एक एक रेशा साफ करती जातीं, तब तक जब तक जोड़ा ऐसा न खिल उट्ठे जैसे कि पूनम का चंदा।
फिर बारी आती सुखाने की। जुगान के और शाही कपड़े तौ बीबी, सुखाने के लिये पेडों पर बँधी रस्सियों पर डाले जाते। लेकिन मजाल जो धोबन का लौंडा शहजादी के कपड़े उस जलमुंही मूंज की खुरदुरी रस्सी पर डलने दे?
वह शहजादी के जोडों और ओढनियों को बहुत हलके हाथों सुखाता। हवा में लहरा लहरा के पालदार नाव जैसे वह हवा की लहरों पे देर तक शहजादी संग उड़ता सरसर करता। आपस में शहजादी के कपड़े और वह करते बात। संगम पर मिले दरिया की तरह उमड़-घुमड़ के।
कपड़े सूख गये तो फिर धोबन का बेटा उनको उतने ही जतन से तहाता। जोड़ की जगह जोड़, दामन पर चुटकी दर चुटकी हल्की सी लहरियादार चुन्नटें डालता। दुपट्टों पर कलफ संग अबरक छिड़की जाती। सबसे अखीर में बिटिया जानो वो लड़का खुद तोड़ी और छांव में सुखाई हुई चमेली की कलियां पोशाकों की सलवटों के भीतर प्यार से डाल कर उनकी तही बनाता।
धोबन हर हफ्ते तैयार कपड़ों की गठरिया माथे पर धरे शाही महल जाती। दरवज्जे पर खड़ी वह गिन-गिन कर कपड़े खोजासरा को सौंप देती। न एक कम न एक बेशी। चिक के पीछे सुरीली आवाज़ पूछती गिन लिये न?
जी, खोजासरा कहता। धोबन सलाम कर घर वापिस।
पर धीमे धीमे धोबन के मन में बेटे की दसा पे सक हो चलो। के हो चलो?
सक।
हऊ। वजै ये कि उसका बेटा अब पहले की तरैयां मां से न बोलै न चालै। बस दरवज्जे पर खड़ा कपड़न का इंतज़ार करै। गठरिया में वापिस धरन तक साहजादी को एक-एक कपड़ा माँ को छूने तक न दे। फिर सीधे झील के किनारे जुगनू मच्छरों के बीच देर तक कांस के पौधन को ताके।
दरगाह गई तो सूफी ने सांस खींच के कहा, री घर जा। ये मामिला सीधे शाही महलन तक जानेवाला है। हमसे कुच्छ ना हो सकेगो। इसक की आंधी पे किसका बस?
जब अकल हो जाये हवा तो किसकी दवा? कैसी दवा?
तू पूछेगी तो तुझसे कुच्छ कह भी दे, अब वह तुझसे पराया हुआ जान!
मां रोती रही, ‘हाय बादसा को पता चल ग्यो तो के होवेगो? सीधे मेरे बच्चे को सर कलम कराय देगो।’
निराश हो कर लौटी माँ का खाना पीना छूटने लगा। हर दिन करवट बदलती आँखों आंखों में रात काटती।
आखिरकार एक दिन वाने बेटे से कह ही तो दयो कि देख बेटा साहजादी के सपने मत पाल ! शहंशाह को तनिक भनक पड गई तो तू जान से जायगो। तेरो सर कटा के भुईं धर जायेंगे वाके जल्लाद!
डरियो ना। उससे पहले मैं खुदै न सर भुईं पर धर न दूंगा? ये घर पिरेम का खाला का घर नांय!
मज़ार का चौकीदार को खांसी छिड़ गई।
खांसने लगा जैसे सांस ही उखड़ जायेगी।
तो बेटी धोबन से उसके बेटे ने हँस कर कहा के अम्मा इब तौ हाथ के पोर-पोर में वही शहजादी पैठ गई है। अब उसी की नींद सोता हूं, उसी की जागता हूं।
अगली सुबह कहते हैं उसकी लहास झील में मिली। गला यहाँ से वहाँ काट लयो थो नामुराद ने। माँ पछाड़ खा कर गिर पड़ी।
गरीबनी को कैसा दफन, कफन? चुपचाप अपने हाथों मिट्टी की कबर बनाय के दफनाय दयो।
पेट का गढा। चल बंदी काम पर।
हफ्तेभर बाद भारी कदमों से शाही गठरिया लेके बदस्तूर महलन चल दी।
‘ये कैसे कपड़े धुले हैं इस बार?’ गठरी खुलने पर शहजादी ने पूछा।
अजी शहजादी थी। जोड़ा छूते ही उसे लग गया कि इस बार कपड़ों में प्यार की न खुशबू, न किसी हाथ की चमेली जइसन छुअन।
‘ये कपडे किसने धोये हैं? पुरानेवाले हाथों ने नहीं! ये तो कोई नये हाथ लगते हैं।’ वह कपडे दूर फेंक कर चीखी जिसे आज तक काहू ने जोर से बोलना तक ना सुना था। क्या?
किसी ने जोर से बोलते ना सुना था।
हां सो घबराई धाय ने खोजासरा से कहा, खोजासरा ने दरबान भेज कर धोबन को बुलवा भेजा।
हफ्तेभर में दस बरस बुढाय गई महतारी नंगे सर नंगे पांव हवन्नक जैसा चेहरा लिये आई।
चिक के पीछे से आवाज़ आई किजे कपड़न को का कर दयो तूने ऐ नामुराद?
तो धोबन ने हाथ जोड के साहजादी से कहा, हजूरेवाली मैं तौ आपजी के कपडन को हाथ ना लगावै थी, वो तो मेरा नामुराद बेटा..’
इतना कह कर वह हिचकारी भर भर कर रोवै जाय।रोवै जाय।
धाय ने इशारों इशारों में उसकी कोख सूनी होने की खबर शहजादी को सुनाय दई।
कुछ देर सुन्न रही शहजादी फिन बिन पलक झपके बोली, ‘हम उसकी मज़ार पर जावेंगे।’
हाय! जिसकी परछाईं महलन के बाहर सुरुज चांद को ना दिक्खे वो पातसा की इकलौती झील किनारे धोबन के बेटे की कब्र पर जायेगी?
श्श…धाय ने कुछ इशारा किया।
जी कह कर खोजासरा बाहर गया।
उस रात डोली में चुपचाप तलवार लिये खोजासरा के संगै शहजादी और उसकी धाय महलों से निकले और बाहिर खड़ी धोबन संग झील किनारे उसके बेटे की मज़ार पर गये।
‘कैसा आशिक था रे तू,’ शाहज़ादी बोली, ‘इतने प्यार से पहिराने ओढाने के बाद जिसकी खातिर जान दी उसका मुखड़ा देखे बिना, उसे अपना मुखड़ा दिखाये बिना चल दिया रे? ये कैसी आगी लगाई?
‘मुझसे पूछा तो होता? अब तौ मुझको ही आना पडैगो तेरे पास…’
और बीबी कहते हैं, साहजादी के कहते के साथै धरती जो थी सो फट गई और सहजादी जब मज़ार में समाय गई तौ खुद ब खुद ज़मीन जो थी सो बंद हो गई।
पातसा सुनते हैं हादसे के बाद बहुत कलपे। बडे आदमी की बडी बात। सलतनत का कामकाज।
बस इत्ता किया कि बेटी की याद में ये छोटी सी इमारत गढवाय दई।
सच हो कि नहीं, कानोंकान चली आई बस इतनी सी कहानी है इस मज़ार की, कहते हैं जोगी बना के किसी न किसी संतरी को पकड़ लेती है ये टहल चाकरी के लाने। मौत उसे ले गई तो दूसरा।
अब देखो भटके पात जैसो आन पहुंचो इधर जब मुझसे पहलेवालो जा चुका। उसके बाद तौ जब तक सांस चलती है, इतैं बैठ के दूर उतैं के वा लोगन की बाबत सोचना इहैको भोग लिखो है नसीब में।
फूटी आंख वाला काना भी तो उधर ही जियादा देखता है जिधर अंधेरा हैगा। इधर का अंधेरा तो दिखता ही रहता है।

When I originally commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I recieve four emails with the same comment. Is there a means you can remove me from that service? Appreciate it!
