1. प्रेम किस शै का नाम है
*****************
जब मैं पहली बार प्रेम में पड़ी
मेरी उम्र सत्रह रही होगी
उस वक्त नहीं पता था
प्रेम किस शै का नाम है
एक छोटे-से गाँव में जन्मी
मिट्टी पर करची से लिखना सिखाती थी माँ
पिता करते थे मजदूरी
संयोग यह रहा कि
पहली कविता मिट्टी पर ही लिखी
मैंने नहीं देखा कभी अपने पिता को प्रेम करते हुए
माँ का जूड़ा बनाते हुए
उनके पैरों को अपने होंठों से चूमते हुए
नहीं देखा कभी….
मैं करती रही प्रेम
रही प्रतीक्षारत
कई सालों बाद जाकर जाना मैंने
प्रेम की वय वसंत-सी होती है
अंतर बस इतना रहा कि वह लौटा नहीं दोबारा
पहली बार जब उसने छुआ था मुझे
मेरी तलहटों को, मेरी अंगुलियों को
जिनके नाखून काफी बड़े थे, पाॅलिश की पर्ते चढ़ाये
कई मर्तबा उसने चूमा था उसे
जिसके निशां अब भी मौजूद हैं हूबहू
मेरी अंगुलियों पे रोएं बनकर
उसने कितनी दफा मुझे प्रेम किया
यह मेरी अंगुलियाँ जानती हैं
जिसके रोएं अब रोज नमकीन पानी में नहाते हैं।
2. नमक

वे चिट्ठियां जो लिखने को शेष रह गईं,
उन्हें लिखता रहा ईश्वर
आँसू मिली स्याही से
वे स्पर्श जो रह गये अधूरे
उसकी महक सौंप दी उसने
फूलों को सौगात बनाकर
वे रंग जिन्हें नहीं मिली जगह कैनवास पे
उसकी चमक उकेर दी उसने
तितलियों के पर पे
प्रेमिकाओं को नहीं मिल सका उसके प्रेमी का प्रेम
यह बात ईश्वर तक कभी नहीं पहुँच सकी
प्रेमिकाएं डाकिए से दूर रही
उसे भय रहा कहीं हेरा-फेरी न हो जाए
आठवीं कक्षा में पढ़ने वाली लड़की
पूछती थी कभी भूगोल के शिक्षक से
पृथ्वी का बड़ा-सा हिस्सा पानी से भरा है
फिर भी पानी की किल्लत क्यों?
वियोगिनी बनने के बाद जाना उसने
वे आँसु हैं बिछड़े हुए प्रेमियों के
जिसे नदियों ने नहीं, समुद्रों ने पनाह दी है
जब ईश्वर नहीं दे पाया होगा
सबके हिस्से का प्रेम
उसने लौटाया होगा उसे नमक बनाकर।
3. आत्मकथा

बाईं आँख के ठीक बगल में
गर्म लोहे से दागे गए निशान
सालों बाद भी तेज जलते हैं
मुलायम त्वचा होने के बाद भी
हाथ रखने पर
नमक की तरह खरखराहट
हमेशा मौजूद रहती है वहाँ
दाग़ कम हैं
लेकिन चोट बेहद गहरी है
संकेत है वे अपने ही होंगे
छाती के ठीक पीछे
खरोंचेदार लाल-काले धब्बे
मुँह खोले मलहम-पट्टी को व्याकुल हैं
झाड़ू बुहारने के ही नहीं, घाव उघाड़ने के भी काम आते हैं
दोनों घुटने के ऊपर
जाँघ की दशा ठीक वैसी ही है
जैसे बारह बरस की बच्ची की पहली तारीख आई हो
जिस दुनिया में
ऐसी घटनाएँ रोज घटती हैं
मैं डरती हूँ आत्मकथा लिखने से
क्या इतनी क्रूरता को हूबहू उतारने की हिम्मत मुझमें शेष बची है?
4. स्वतंत्र नारी

एक दिन मैं सौंप दूंगी
अपनी कलम किसी कवि को
जिसके ह्रदय में होगी खून की बूंदों से अधिक शब्दों की संख्या
जरूरी नहीं कि इस पर हो मेरे वारिस का अधिकार
यात्राओं में धन दान की जगह
करूँगी किताबें दान
किसी संघ में शरण लेने की जगह
लूँगी शरण अपनी कविताओं में
मैं किसी पुरुष से अधिक
प्रेम करती हूँ एक वेश्या से
और अपनी कलम से लिखना चाहूँगी आखिरी बार
उसी स्वतंत्र नारी के नाम एक कविता
मृत्यु के द्वार में प्रवेश से पहले
मैं बहाऊँगी उन सुनहरे पन्नों को
नमकीन झरने के पानी में
इस उम्मीद के साथ कि कागज की मिठास पानी में घुल जाए।
5. प्रिय

मेरी बच्ची
गर मैं न रहूँ तब भी याद रखना
प्रेम में पड़ने से पहले
एक प्रिय ढूंढ लेना
ताकि आँसू उसके कंधे पर बहा सको।
6. महीने के चार दिन

अपने ही खून से युद्ध करती स्त्रियाँ
रखती हैं उन चार दिनों के नाम
जिसे ईश्वर के शब्दकोश में नहीं मिली जगह
यह कहना अतिशयोक्ति होगा
कि वे दिन केवल उन्हीं के रहे
सत्य तो यह है कि उन्हीं दिनों में
सबसे अधिक बार पुकारा गया तुम्हें
उन दिनों वे दूर ही रहीं हर किसी से
छुआ-छूत बिमारी की तरह
वे आजीवन रहीं स्त्री
लेकिन दूर रखा गया उन्हें मनुष्यों की श्रेणी से
आदमी क्या जाने
अपने ही खून से युद्ध करना होता है क्या?
दूसरों का बहता हुआ खून देखकर
जिसे उसका रंग मालूम हुआ
एक समय ऐसा आया
जब स्त्रियों ने गर्भधारण किया
तब से मैं ईश्वर को जनते हुए देखती हूँ
और खुश होती हूँ अपने स्त्री होने पर।

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
