ऊपर चढ़ने की धमक में
स्याह गहराइयों की अनदेखी
एक गैर-जरूरी सलाह है
पर कोई यह नहीं बतलाता
कि ऊँचाई आत्महत्या की भी जगह होती है
लावारिस-सी लाश है भविष्य
जिसे जिंदा रखने की कोशिश में
लाशों में तबदील होते जा रहे हैं लोग
समय का झोंका
इस तरह से भी आता है
कि हवा का रुख़ बदलते ही
नटराज को भी नटनी बन जाना पड़ता है
इरादा बुलंद दिखता है
पर वक्त के हौले में आदम
पोले मूँगफली-सा हो जाता है
बस उम्मीद की चिरौरी
भीतर चिंगारी जलाए रखती है
चिंगारी और मशाल के बीच
मक़सद भर का फ़ासला होता है
एक गूँज है सुनी-अनसुनी…
कि उस फ़ासले के पास
अगर कभी आना
तो उम्मीदों की चुप्पी ओढ़े आना
यहाँ सिर्फ़ आत्मा के सीझने से
एक लौ जलती दिखती है
जहाँ मतलब और प्रयोजन के बीच की झिल्ली
बिलकुल साफ़ दीखती है

यह पहाड़ों की कहानी है
और शायद यही सब की कहानी भी हो
फाहों का लिहाफ़ ओढे पहाड़
क़ैद रखता है बर्फ़ का दरिया
पर जब यह बहता है
तब जिंदगी रुक जाती है
उस रुके हुए समय में
सच रूहों के साथ दफ्न है
ऊपर बादलों का पट फेरा
नीचे रेंगती रूहों का
बादल का लामबंद होना
ज़रूरी नहीं है
कि इश्क़ में एकरंगा होना ही हो
बादलों में रेंगता आदमी
हेयर क्लिप में फँसा
कपड़ा सा फड़फड़ाता है
फिर भी बुदबुदाता है
“उठो इतना
कि पृथ्वी की आखिरी ज़मीन भी दिखती रहे”

हम्द पाकीज़ा हो
तो सूरज दिन बड़ा कर देता है
और चाँद रातें छोटी
आँखों में जब सूरज उगता है
तब घड़ी वक़्त का अनुमान भूल जाती है
ज़रूरी नहीं
कि हर साहस चोटी तक
ले ही जाये
सच तो यह है
कि चलना ढलने के विरुद्ध उठा पहला कदम है

इच्छाएं आदिम होती हैं
पर अपरिचित इन्द्रियों जैसी मिलती हैं
अंधेरा जब बिंदी-बिंदी नाचता है
तब कहानियां सीने पर लौ बनाती हैं
हवा-बतास पर जीता है
शब्दों को पीता है और लिखता है
कहानी भूख बढ़ाती है
और कविता प्यास …
बैठने और लेटने के बीच
एक स्थिति है `पड़े रहना’
इन दिनों सबको
वहीं उसाँसें खड़े देखता है
अलसुबह आँख मींचता है
कुनमुनाते पिल्ले को देखता है
तभी जाती हुई जम्हाई मुस्कुराते हुए कहती है
यार! मासूमियत जिंदा तो है

कौड़ियों सी आँखे सुंदर होकर भी
कितनी निश्चेत हैं !
भीतर घसीटे गए
सपनों की खरोंचे झांकती हैं
छुआ नहीं उसने
उसकी साँस छू गयी
यूँ अनछुआ रहना
बंधन की पवित्रता है
प्रेम-रोग का निवारण प्रेम
वहम का इलाज वहम
यह सच है
पर समय रहते समझना मुश्किल
कुलाँचे काल की कील पर
थके घसीटते चाल में बदल जाती है
और जाति ऐसा मसला है
कि हिरणी पल भर में मसोमात में
सीने में हौले से सिर रखना
पुरसुकून नींद में जाने जैसा है
उनींदे अवचेतन में बादल-सा घुमड़ता है
कि समझदार औरतें कायर क्यों होती हैं
सच यह भी हैं
कि किसी पर मर मिटना
उसी को संवारने से
कितना आसान होता है

सामूहिक भय हो तो
अवसाद की दीवारें ढह जाती हैं
आर्तनाद सामूहिक सन्ताप बन जाता हैं
संवेदनाओं का शव ढ़ोते
इंसान को यह नहीं पता चलता
कि वह ज़िंदगी से जितना भी भागे
बस एक झपट्टे की जद में ही रहता है
मौसम में कृत्रिम इत्र
इतना घुल गया है
कि ओस को बारिश की बूँदें बनने से पहले
तेज़ाब की बौछार में बदला जा रहा है
स्थिति ऐसी है
कि आँसू पोंछने का एहसास भर है
और आंसू अपने स्रोत से ही ग़ायब है

प्यार भी अजीब होता है
किसी को किसी से
कभी भी हो जाता है
जैसे ठहरे कुएँ को कलकल नदी से
सूरज को मीठी चाँदनी से
कमल को सूखे रेगिस्तान से
तराजू पर मेंढक तौलना
साँप को नथ पहनाना
हर प्रेमी का दरिया पार कर जाना
प्यार है
कोई वरदान तो है नहीं
जिसका पूरा होना निश्चित हो

हालात ऐसे हैं
कि गोया एक अनहोनी का इंतज़ार हो हर वक़्त
नींद जब जुगनू सा जागती है
तब बदलाव की बात होती है
बदलाव की बात वह
जिस दुनिया में कर रही है
वहाँ सपनों के साथ
आँखें नोचने का रिवाज है
उसे नहीं पता
सौंदर्य ऐसा नश्तर है
जिससे उसी की हत्या
ऐन मौक़े की जाती है
कुछ कदम ऐसे हैं
जो बस ढलान के भरोसे चलते हैं
उन रास्तों पर
ख़ुद को बिना बदले
परिस्थितियाँ बस चले जा रही है

कला तभी सफल होती है
जब वह उत्तेजित मन को शांत
और शिथिल मन को उत्तेजित कर दे
आँख का धड़क के खुलना
अंतस की झील में कंकड़ गिरने सा है
उस झील में फूलों की पंखुड़ियाँ को
सिर्फ कुंभलाना सिखलाया गया है
बताया गया जलकुंभियों का सुदूर भविष्य
पाट दिए जाने में होता है
जल अब पोखर में नहीं रहता
नभ के नथ में समाहित है
किसकी हिम्मत है
उस नथ को उतार लाए…

मसल दिए गए फूलों की गंध
उन फूलों की स्थिति से बदतर है
स्त्रियों को बाँझ बनाने की मुहिम जारी है
पर उन्हें नहीं पता
माताएँ बाँझ नहीं होती
उसने पूछा
समय इतनी जल्दी क्यों बीतता है?
जवाब मिला
समय तो समय पर ही बीतता है
दरअसल सबसे सुंदर बेला है साँझ
जो डूबते हुए सूरज से कहती है
अच्छे दिन स्थगित भले होते हैं,
निलंबित हरगिज़ नहीं हो
