आप गुलज़ार के दीवाने पता नहीं इसे कैसे लेंगे।लेकिन मेरी माने गुलज़ार साहेब को खुद को रिपीट करने से परहेज़ नहीं करते। लेकिन यह दक्ष काम गुलज़ार समान लेखक ही कर सकते हैं। वो कमाल के रूमानी व ओरिजिनल अंदाज़ में यह काम करते हैं। जितनी शराब पुरानी होती है, नशा उसका उतना ही होता है। गुलज़ार साहेब का लेखन कुछ ऐसा रहा है। जितनी पुरानी उतनी असरदार।
धूप /छांव
इस रूपक को बेहद खूबसूरती से सिनेमाई अंदाज़ में लाने का काम गुलज़ार ने किया। अब फ़िल्म ‘माचिस’ की इन पंक्तियों को ही देखें… जहां तेरी ऐड़ी से धूप उड़ा करती थी… सुना है उस चौखट पे अब शाम रहा करती है।
फिर ‘पिंजर’ के शब्दों को भी देखें…मार मार के एड़ियां धूप उडावेंगे ..चल पीपल की छांव में गिद्दा डालेंगे।
मणि रत्नम की ‘दिल से’ में गुलज़ार के लिखे कुछ सबसे बेहतरीन गाने संग्रहित हैं। दिलकश गीत ‘ छइयाँ छइयाँ’ में एक लाईन आती है…मैं उसके रूप का सौदाई वो धूप छांव सा हरजाई। बहुत पहले ‘काबुलीवाला’ में भी गुलज़ार ने कुछ ऐसा ही लिखा…गंगा आए कहां से गंगा जाए कहां रे…लहराए पानी में जैसे धूप छांव रे।
फ़िल्म ‘ रॉकफोर्ड ‘ में आपकी लिखी पंक्तियों पर ज़रा गौर करें… मेरे पांव के तले की यह ज़मीन चल रही है… कहीं धूप ठंडी ठंडी कहीं छांव जल रही है। इसी के आसपास ‘ फ़िज़ा’ में गुलज़ार खुद को दोहराते से नज़र आए… आ धूप मलूं मैं तेरी आंखों में। फिर ‘साथिया’ में कुछ यूं ही …पीली धूप पहन के तुम बागो में मत जाना। इसी से मिलता-जुलता ‘आंधी’ में… जादू की नर्म धूप और आंगन में लेटकर।
दिन /रात
ख़ालीपन को बयां करने का अंदाज़ गुलज़ार साहेब का निराला रहा है। मसलन इन कुछ उदाहरणों को ही देखें… एक अकेला इस शहर में (घरौंदा) इसी गीत में आगे…दिन खाली खाली बरतन है और रात है अंधा कुंआ।
फिर फ़िल्म ‘सितारा’ में आप लिखते हैं.. रात कट जाएगी तो कहां दिन बिताएंगे ..बाजरे के खेत में कौवे उड़ाएंगे..
‘लेकिन’ की इन ज़बरदस्त पंक्तियों को मुड़कर देखें…रात दिन के दोनों पहिये कुछ धूल उड़ाकर चले गए ।
काफी पहले ‘परिचय’ में भी गुलज़ार इस रूपक का खूबसूरत प्रयोग किया..दिन ने हाथ थामकर इधर बुला लिया,रात ने इशारे से उधर बुला लिया। अब ‘ओंकारा’ की पंक्तियों को देखें… ओ साथी रे दिन डूबे ना.. आ चल दिन को रोकें, धूप के पीछे दौड़ें.. छांव छू लें… बहुत पहले’आंधी’ के लिए आपने ..दिन डूबा नहीं रात डूबी नहीं, जाने कैसा है सफ़र।
कुछ और उदाहरण ….’साथिया’ में …दिन भी न डूबे रात न आए शाम कभी न ढले। पहेली में गुलज़ार साहेब ने लिखा …’डूबता है दिन तो शाम के साए उड़ते हैं। काफी पहले ‘खुशबू’ में आपने लिखा …’डूबी डूबी आंखों में सपनों के साए, रात भर अपने ही दिन में पराए।
घर/वतन
गुलज़ार ने बंटवारे को त्रासदी की तरह लिया था। दीना पाकिस्तान में जन्मे गुलज़ार साहेब का घर व जीवन इस परिघटना से टूट गया था। विभाजन ने उनसे घर ले लिया। परिवार दोस्त रिश्तेदार ले लिया। आपने अपनी तकलीफ़ को लोंगो के साथ जोड़कर एहसास को बयां किया।
गुलज़ार के लेखन ने इस याद हमेशा संजोए रखा…इसलिए ‘माचिस’ में लिखते हैं…’ पानी पानी इन पहाड़ों की ढलानों से गुजर जाना, धुंआ धुंआ कुछ वादियां भी आएंगी गुजर जाना एक गांव आएगा मेरा घर आएगा.. जा मेरे घर जा’ फिर उनकी खूबसूरत फ़िल्म ‘लेकिन ‘ सावन आयो घर ले जईओ’ । मिट्टी की भींनी भींनी खुशबू को ‘सितारा’ के लिए उनके गीत से महसूस करें… मेरे घर के आंगन में छोटा सा झूला है.. सोंधी सोंधी मिट्टी होगी लेपा हुआ चूल्हा है।
श्याम बेनेगल ने कॅरियर में एक से बढ़कर फिल्में बनाई।नब्बे के दशक की ‘मम्मो’ एक ऐसी ही उम्दा फ़िल्म थी। फ़िल्म के गीत…’यह फ़ासले तेरी गलियों के हमसे तय ना हुए हज़ार बार रुके हम हज़ार बार चले’ को गुलज़ार ने ही लिखा था। उर्दू, वतन और बंटवारा का संगम पर खड़ी ‘मम्मो’ ने गुलज़ार को लेखन का बहुत अच्छा स्पेस दिया। ऐसे में भला वो क्यों नहीं लिखते… यह कैसी सरहदें उलझी हुई है पैरों में, हम अपने घर की तरफ़ उठ के बार -बार चले।
नैना/
गुलज़ार साहेब ने ‘आंख’ नज़र व नैन से ज़्यादा तवज्जो और मुहब्बत ‘नैना ‘ को दी है। उदाहरण के लिए ‘मासूम’ के एक गीत में प्रयोग हुए लफ़्ज़ों को देखें… दो नैना एक कहानी थोड़ा सा बादल थोड़ा सा पानी और एक कहानी। इसी तरह ‘ओंकारा’ में …’जग जा री गुड़िया.. मिसरी की पुड़िया मीठे लगे1 दो नैना व नैनों की मत सुनियो रे नयना ठग लेंगे।
फिर गीत ‘दो नयनों में आंसू भरे हैं, निंदिया कैसे समाए। गुलज़ार ने ‘अशोका’ में भी लिखा… रोशनी से भरे नैना तेरे, सपनों से भरे नैना तेरे
चांद/
यह गुलज़ार साहेब का सबसे पसंदीदा विषय माना जाता है। ग़ज़ल, शायरी या गाना हो आपने ‘चांद’ को हमेशा याद रखा। लेखन में बराबर जगह दी। इस विषय पर ‘रात चांद और मैं’ पर किताब भी निकाली। पहले गीत.. ‘मोरा गोरा रंग’ से शुरू हुई मुहब्बत ‘ओंकारा’ व ‘गुरु’ तक बरकरार रही।
बंदिनी के गीत में पंक्तियां ..बदली हटाके चंदा छुप के झांके चंदा। फिर ‘गुरु’ का गीत ‘बोल गुरु.. लोड सेंडिंग में चांद जलाए। आपने ही में ‘ओंकारा’ के लिए लिखा… मैं चांद निगल गई। इसी सिलसिले में ‘सत्या’ की लाइनें याद की जा सकती हैं… डोरियों से बांध बांध कर रात भर चांद तोड़ना।
यशराज की ‘बंटी बबली ‘ के गीत में कुछ यूं लिखा.. चांद से होकर सड़क जाती है।
पसंदीदा फिल्म ‘लेकिन’ की यह लफ्ज़ गुलज़ार साहेब की मुहब्बत को बखूबी बयां करते हैं…
मैं एक सदी से बैठी हूं इस राह से कोई गुज़रा नहीं… कुछ चांद के रथ तो गुज़रे थे पर चांद से कोई उतरा नहीं।
आखिर में वो गीत जिसने आपको नेशनल अवार्ड दिलवाया… एक सौ सोलह चांद की रातें एक तुम्हारे कांधे का तिल…मेरा कुछ सामान (इजाज़त)
लम्हा/वक्त
वक्त से गुलज़ार को काफी हमदर्दी रही है। वक्त ने एक तरफ़ बहुत कड़वे अनुभव दिए तो यादगार लम्हे भी नवाज़े। आपने हमेशा इस विषय पर क़रीबी नज़र रखी। एक बार नहीं बार बार मुड़कर देखना सिखाया। आपकी एक गज़ल ‘हाथ छूटे भी तो रिश्ते नहीं तोड़ा करते (पिंजर) कुछ कुछ ..आने वाला पल जाने वाला (गोलमाल) की पंक्तियां ..’एक बार वक्त से लम्हा गिरा कहीं, वहां दास्तां मिली.. लम्हा कहीं नहीं।
बड़ा लेखक न केवल नया लिखता है । लिखने के लिए मुड़कर देखने की भी क्षमता रखता है। गुलज़ार बड़े लेखक हैं। रचनात्मक आचरण के धनी हैं। अपनी चीजों को विलक्षण अंदाज़ में दोहराने की जबरदस्त काबलियत रखते हैं। इन दोहरावों ने रचनात्मकता का आखिर भला ही किया है।
