अनुकृति उपाध्याय ने अपने पहले कहानी संग्रह ‘जापानी सराय’ से सभी का ध्यान अपनी तरफ आकर्षित किया था। उसके पास अपनी कहानियाँ हैं और कहने की अपनी भाषा भी। उसके पहले लघु उपन्यास ‘नीना आँटी’ में यह विशिष्टता और उभर कर आई है। राजपाल एण्ड संज से प्रकाशित इस उपन्यास की पहली समीक्षा लिखी है वरिष्ठ लेखिका गीताश्री ने। आप भी पढ़ सकते हैं-

जैसे किसी देश का इतिहास होता है, वैसे ही हरेक व्यक्ति का भी अपना इतिहास होता है. उसका आकलन करने से पहले उसके इतिहास में झांकना जरुरी है तभी उसका सही मूल्याँकन संभव है.
युवा लेखिका अनुकृति उपाध्याय का हिंदी में पहला लघु उपन्यास “ नीना आंटी” (राजपाल एंट संस से प्रकाशित) की प्रोटोगोनिस्ट “ नीना” का अपना इतिहास है- विद्रोह, प्रेम, आवेग और उदात्तता से भरा हुआ. व्यक्तित्व का निर्माण कई अवयवों से होता है, वह कभी एकरेखकीय नहीं होता. मनुष्य चुप्पा और वाचाल दोनों एक साथ होता है. नीना भी ऐसी ही थीं.
नीना का व्यक्तित्व एकरेखकीय नहीं रहा है . बिंदास ज़िंदगी जीने वाली एक अल्हड़ , मस्त लड़की आख़िर एकल ज़िंदगी त्याग कर प्रकृति के साहचर्य में क्यों रम जाती है? क्या नीना ने दुनिया का बहिष्कार किया ? उसे फूलो, पौधों और पहाड़ से आवेगात्मक लगाव हो गया है या उसने दुनिया को ठुकरा दिया है?
क्या ये मेरे भीतर की वो आकांक्षा है जिसका नाम नीना है?
या नीना उन स्त्रियों का प्रतिनिधि चेहरा है जो अपनी शर्तो पर अपनी ज़िंदगी जीती हैं और जीवन का अंतिम हिस्सा भी अपनी पसंद से संचालित करती हैं. समाज ऐसी अनोखी स्त्रियों को शुरु से ही अचंभे की तरह देखता है. अभ्यस्त नहीं है ये बंद समाज. समाज को आदत है उनके हुकुम की तामील करती स्त्रियाँ जो परिवार के लिए मर खप जाती हैं. जिनकी अपनी ख्वाहिशें नहीं होतीं, जिनकी कामनाएँ गिरवी रखी होतीं हैं.
नीना जैसी स्त्रियाँ अपनी ज़िंदगी की डोर किसी के हाथों में थमाती नहीं. इसीलिए उनका इतिहास दुरभिसंधियों से भरा नहीं होता.
ऐसी स्त्री पहेली की तरह लगती है. उनके भीतर एक ख़ास तरह का निर्मोही अवयव होता है जो स्वाभिमान पर चोट लगते ही पलछिन में दूर ले जाता है. वे कुछ भी झटक कर खुद को सबसे अलग कर लेती हैं. सारी मोह माया त्याग कर अलग ज़िंदगी चुन लेती हैं. उनमें अलग निर्ममता भी होती है जो उन्हें मुक्त करके उनके लिए जीवन आसान कर देती है. अगर ऐसा न हो तो परिवार और समाज ऐसी स्त्रियों को कब का नष्ट कर देता. स्त्रियों की आंतरिक निर्ममता ही उन्हें नष्ट होने से बचा लेती है.
यह उपन्यास उसी निर्ममता का महाआख्यान प्रस्तुत करता है। बिना लाउड हुए नीना आंटी का जीवन वैसे ही चित्रित होता चलता है जैसे अजीत कौर के खानाबदोश में स्वंय लेखिका का जीवन दिखाई देता है। वहां भी यही निर्मोह दिखाई देता है, जब जब मोह बांध कर गुलाम बनाता है, उसे छलता चलता है, तब तब स्त्री के इसी निर्मोही स्वभाव ने उसे बचाया है। अच्छा बनने का मोह जब स्त्री को मुक्त करता है, वह बहुत कुछ पा लेती है। शायद अपने मन का जीवन।
अजीत कौर अतीत में जाते हुए सोचती हैं कि अच्छा बन कर भी मुझे क्या लेना था। अजीब बात है, जब हम जी सकते हैं, जिंदगी के दरवाजे हमारे लिए खुले होते हैं, तब एक बेसिरपैर की झिझक हमारे पांव को बांधे रखती है। बाद में, बहुत बाद में, जब हम सारी झिझक से मुक्त हो जाते हैं, तो जिंदगी के सारे दरवाजे बंद हो चुके होते हैं।
नीना आंटी उपन्यास की नीना ने ऐसा कोई अफसोस पालना जरुरी नहीं समझा कि जिंदगी के आखिरी दिनों में बैठ कर आहे भरें। जीवन का उत्तरार्द्ध कितना सुंदर हो सकता है, पढ़ कर समझा जा सकता है।
विचारक एलिन मारगन ने इस दुनिया को एक स्त्री के लिए समंदर और स्त्री की तुलना उस मछली से की है जिसे जीने के लिए खारे पानी की आवश्यकता नहीं है। वह समुद्र जल की सांद्रता कम करती चलती है, इसी से मुक्ति की सारी लड़ाई है।
अनुकृति ने नीना के रुप में एक बेहद ताकतवर और अनुकरणीय स्त्री हमें दी है। जो कई थोपी हुई मान्यताओं और अवधारणाओं को ध्वस्त करती है।
“कलेक्टेड वर्क्स ऑफ पेरियार ई वी आर” किताब में रामासामी ने लिखा है कि “स्वतंत्रता और साहस” केवल पौरुष के लक्षण हैं, जब तक दुनिया में यह कलम कायम रहेगा, महिलाओं की पराधीनता कायम रहेगी। नीना जैसी स्वतंत्रचेत्ता और साहसी स्त्री इसी अवधारणा को नकार देती है और एक अलग नैरेटिव खड़ा करती है।
एक वृहत, संकीर्ण सोच वाला समाज है जिसे परहेज है स्त्री की इसी साहसिकता से, इसी स्वतंत्र चेतना से जो जिंदगी को अपनी मर्जी से डिक्टेट करे, किसी पैट्रियार्की के डिक्टेशन पर न जिए। इस उपन्यास में कुछ स्त्रियां भी हैं नीना जैसे किरदार से भय खाती हैं, नाक भौं सिकोड़ती हैं। एक प्रसंग है कि जब सुदीपा (एक पात्र) लंबे वीकेंड पर नीना के यहां जाती थी तब उसकी मम्मी टोकती हैं- “नीना के यहां बहुत आना-जाना हो रहा है, सुना।“
सुदीपा सचेतन स्त्री है जो नीना की लिखी किताबों से स्त्री को फिर से समझ रही है। नीना मिथको और इतिहास में वर्णित स्त्रियों के नैरेटिव बदल रही है। उसे पुऩर्भाषित कर रही है। वह नयी पीढ़ी को बता रही है कि जिन स्त्रियों को मिथको में चुड़ैल, मायाविनी, जादूगरनी बताया गया है, चाहे वे हिंडिंबा हो या सूर्पनखा, वे सब अपनी सेक्सुआलिटी को लेकर आश्वस्त थी और उसकी ताकत को पहचानती थीं। उनकी स्वायतता और दैहिकता उस काल के पुरुष समाज के लिए चुनौती थे। उस काल में स्त्रियां आदेश लेती थीं, पहल नहीं कर सकती थीं। पुरुष उन्हें कामुकता का आदेश देता तो वे विश्वामित्र या किसी ऋषि मुनि के साथ दैहिक होती थीं। उनकी देह तब भी देवताओं के लिए इस्तेमाल की वस्तु थी। जिन स्त्रियों ने अपनी दैहिकता को, कामनाओं को तवज्जो दी, उन्हें चुड़ैल आदि आदि कहा गया।
नीना व्याख्याएं बदल रही है। नीना मिथकीय छल को रेखांकित कर रही है। नयी पीढ़ी की लड़कियों को ये पसंद है। एक स्त्री ही अगली पीढ़ी की स्त्री के लिए बदलाव के झरोखे खोल सकती है और उन्हें इतिहास, पुराण के अन्यायों के छल कपट के बारे में बता सकती है।
यह संयोग है कि साहित्य में इस समय स्त्रियां मिथकीय और ऐतिहासिक स्त्री पात्रों पर खूब लिख रही हैं और उन्हें अपनी ढंग से गढ़ रही हैं। इस पर विवाद भी उठे हैं, कुछ आपत्तियां भी आई हैं। प्रगतिशील साहित्य को कोई समस्या नहीं, मगर यथास्थितिवादियों को हर बदलाव से भय लगता है। परंपरा की पूंछ पकड़ कर बैठने वाले कभी पार नहीं उतरते, न कुछ नया कर पाते हैं। ऐसे समय में अनुकृति ने नीना के बहाने इस प्रवृत्ति पर चोट किया और इस तरफ संकेत भी किया है। ये काम इतना आसान न था। लेकिन उत्तर आधुनिकता के दौर में पुरानी चीजों को नष्ट करके नयी चीज गढ़ना ही तो उत्तर आधुनिकता की मांग है। जिस नैरेटिव से स्त्री का जीवन अभिशाप बने, उसे पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी क्यों ढोया जाए, उसका नष्ट हो जाना ही बेहतर होता है। यही तो देरिदा की अवधारणा है – एक वृहत्त परंपरा की अवधारणा को विखंडित करना। नया पाठ तैयार करना।
एक प्रसंग है जो हो सकता है हिंदी की दुनिया के लिए अज्ञात हो, मैं उसी स्थान से हूं…आम्रपाली का जिक्र आता है। जिस संदर्भ में आता है, वह हमने बचपन से देखा, झेला और सुना है। आम्रपाली को लेकर बहसें हैं उपन्यास में। अपनी बच्ची का नाम आम्रपाली रखने पर। हमारे इलाके में भी कोई अपनी बेटी का नाम आम्रपाली नहीं रखता। यह अभिशप्त नाम है, एक बदनाम है। वैशाली गणराज्य की गणिका, राजनर्तकी, जनपद कल्याणी और बौद्ध भिक्षुणी आम्रपाली। उपन्यास में सरला नामक स्त्री कहती है- “इतने शुभ नामों के होते हुए भी लड़की का नाम रखा आम्रपालि….।“
जब दूसरी स्त्री तर्क देती हैं कि “आम्रपालि पहली बौद्ध भिक्षुणी थी, एक स्वतंत्र स्त्री थी..एक लड़की का इससे सुंदर नाम क्या हो सकता है। “
“सब पर नीना की तूती बोल रही है, स्वतंत्र-वतंत्र कुछ नहीं, प्रॉस्टिट्यूट थी आम्रपाली।“
ये जो दूसरी औरत है, वो खुद नहीं बोल रही है, उसकी सदियों की गुलामी बोल रही है। उसकी कंडीशनिंग ही ऐसी है कि वह पुरुषों की जुबान बोलेगी। उसे स्त्री से सहानुभूति नहीं, उसे वेश्याओं से नफरत है। उसे उन सामंतों से नफरत नहीं जिन्होंने स्त्रियों को वेश्या में बदल दिया। सामंत दूध के धुले पवित्र लोग, वेश्याएं गंदी होती हैं। दरअसल पारंपरिक सोच वाली स्त्री के रक्त में पैट्रियार्की का कण मिला हुआ है। इतनी आसानी से नहीं जाने वाला। नीना जैसी स्त्रियां जब नया नैरेटिव खड़ा करती हैं, तब तूफान उठता है। स्त्री-पुरुष दोनों समुदाय बौखला कर नीना जैसी स्त्रियों को कटघरे में खड़ा करात है, उसे लांछित करता है। उसे घर तोड़ू, घर बिगाड़ू, मर्दखोर जाने क्या क्या तमगे से नवाजता है।
वो तो नयी पीढ़ी की लड़कियां हैं जिन्हें पता है कि रिश्तों में स्पेस का क्या मतलब होता है। प्रेम में बराबरी भी एक बड़ा सवाल है। उम्र के फासले कुछ नहीं होते।
और सबसे बढ़कर एक बौद्धिक स्त्री के साथ जीना समाज अभी तक सीख नहीं पाया है। वरिष्ठ लेखिका अनामिका कहती हैं कि सबसे बड़ी त्रासदी यही है कि स्त्रियां पढ़ लिख कर ध्रुवस्वामिनी वाली कदकाठी पा गई हैं,किंतु पुरुष अभी तक रामगुप्त की मनोदशा मनोदशा में ही हैं। वे चंद्रगुप्त नहीं हे। नयी स्त्री बेतरहा अकेली है, क्योंकि अपने पाए का धीरोदात्त, धीरललित, धीरप्रशांत नायक कहीं दीखता ही नहीं।
नीना हमारे समय की वहीं पढ़ी लिखी स्त्री है जो कदकाठी तो पा गई है मगर जिसे स्वीकारने की हैसियत समाज हासिल नहीं कर सका है।
नीना जैसी स्त्रियां जो वैचारिक जमीन तैयार कर रही हैं , आगे यही मशाल का काम करेगी। एक तरह से नीना उस पुरुषवादी तंत्र को बेनकाब कर देती है जिसमें फंस कर शताब्दियों से स्त्रियां छटपटा रही थीं।
यह कहना अतिशयोक्ति न होगी कि बीसवीं शताब्दी में कुछ लेखिकाओं ने जो स्त्री-विमर्श की जो पृष्ठभूमि तैयार की थी उसे अंजान तक पहुंचाने का काम अनुकृति जैसी युवा लेखिकाएं कर रही हैं। इस साहस की तुलना 1930 की एक साहसी लेखिका श्रीमती प्रियंवदा से करना उचित होगा कि वे विधवा की आत्मकथा लिख कर साहसिक ऐलान करती हैं- “विवाह स्त्री के लिए जीवन बीमा की तरह होता है।“
नीना जैसी स्त्रियां इसी स्वर्णजड़ित पिंजरे को काट कर बाहर आती हैं और बिना किसी नारेबाजी के अपना रास्ता चुन लेती है।
नीना एक चरित्र प्रधान उपन्यास है जिसकी मुख्य पात्र नीना “देहि में पति सुखम” की आकांक्षा से परे , अपनी जिंदगी की लगाम अपने हाथों में थाम लेती है।
यह लघु उपन्यास सचेतन स्त्रियों के जीवन मुक्ति की खोज का सजीव दस्तावेज भी है और उसका विराट रुपक भी।

सच तो यही है कि नीना सरीखी ताकतवर और आत्मविश्वासी स्त्रियों की हमें एक खेप तैयार करनी है जिससे अन्य स्त्रियों को प्रेरणा मिले _ आत्म सम्मान की कीमत पर जीवन में कोई समझौता नहीं।
