साल की बहुप्रतीक्षित ‘ठग्स ऑफ़ हिंदोस्तान’ रिलीज़ हो चुकी है। दिवाली का मौका और आमिर खान के होने का इस फिल्म को पूरा फायदा मिला है। फिल्म ने पहले ही दिन धमाकेदार कमाई कर 52.25 करोड़ कमाए लिए। आमिर-अमिताभ की फिल्म को बहुत खराब रिव्यू मिले हैं। फिल्म के पहले दिन की कमाई के साथ फिल्म ने एक बड़ा रिकॉर्ड अपने नाम कर लिया है। लेकिन बॉक्स ऑफ़िस पर इसका भविष्य क्या होगा कहा नहीं जा सकता।
साल की सबसे बड़ी फिल्म होने का दावा करती ‘ठग्स ऑफ हिंदोस्तान’ बहुत कमज़ोर फ़िल्म है। कंटेंट के मामले में बेहद निराश करती है। हिंदी सिनेमा के बड़े बैनर यशराज फिल्म्स द्वारा निर्मित इस फिल्म का बजट दो अरब रुपये से ज्यादा है। आमिर अमिताभ जैसे बड़े नामों से सजी यह फ़िल्म उम्मीदों पर खरी नहीं उतरती है। तकनीकी पक्ष सराहनीय है। लेकिन विजय कृष्ण आचार्य इस बड़ी जहाज़ को दिशाहीन सफ़र पर ले गए हैं। वो तय नहीं कर पाए कि उन्हें दिखाना क्या है।
मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स में ‘ठग्स ऑफ हिंदोस्तान’ को फीलिप मीडोज टेलर के उपन्यास ‘कन्फेशंस ऑफ ए ठग’ पर आधारित माना जा रहा था। लेकिन हक़ीकत में फ़िल्म मसाला फिल्मों से भी कम स्तर की नजर आती है। एक्शन फिल्म का मज़बूत पहलू है। लेकिन देखना होगा कि इससे कुछ असर पड़ा या नहीं। केवल धूम धड़ाके से फिल्में नहीं चला करतीं।
कहानी में शोध का अभाव साफ दिखाई देता है। ऐतिहासिक विषयों अथवा उससे प्रेरित पर बनी फिल्मों के साथ यह दिक्कत बॉलीवुड में हमेशा से रही है। ठगों की परिकल्पना लेकर जा रहे दर्शकों को भी फ़िल्म निराश करेगी। इस पहलू पर थोड़ा भी ध्यान होता तो फ़िल्म कुछ और ही होती। बड़ी बजट की फिल्मों को शोध पर ख़र्च करने की आदत बना लेनी चाहिए। बड़े पैमाने पर गोला-बारूद का इस्तेमाल बेमानी नजर आता है। फ़िल्म में जितना बारूद इस्तेमाल हुआ है, उससे कम में जंग लड़ी जा सकती थी।
फ़िल्म का पूरा हाल देखकर आश्चर्य हो रहा कि परफेक्शनिस्ट आमिर ख़ान ने साइन किया। उनके अंदर बच्चे की आकांक्षाओं की सोच आई होगी। ऐसा लगता है। बच्चों को यह फ़िल्म पसंद आ सकती है। क्योंकि लंबू छोटू के मज़ेदार प्रसंग हैं। मेरे लिहाज से ठग्स को सिर्फ कमाई के नज़रिए से बनाया गया है। लेकिन एंड प्रोडक्ट ख़ासा निराशाजनक है। महाकरोड़ की रेस में फ़िल्म बहुत कमाई कर ले शायद लेकिन आम दर्शक बहुत ठगा महसूस करेगा। बहुत अधिक महत्वाकांक्षा चीज को तबाह कर देती है। ‘ठग्स ऑफ हिन्दुस्तान’ पर इसकी बड़ी छाप नज़र आती है। हो सकता है ‘ठग्स ऑफ हिंदोस्तान’ लागत वसूल कर ले,लेकिन इसे जल्दी भुला देने में इतिहास को खासी परेशानी नहीं होगी। कहना होगा कि शायद ही इसे सफ़ल उद्यम के रुप में याद रखा जाए।
