प्रेमचंद के पुत्र अमृत राय द्वारा 1948 में स्थापित हंस प्रकाशन आज से राजकमल प्रकाशन समूह का हिस्सा हो गया है। प्रेमचंद की जयंती के दिन की यह उल्लेखनीय घटना है। हंस प्रकाशन का ऐतिहासिक महत्व रहा है और इसकी अपनी समृद्ध विरासत है। आशा है अब हम नए सिरे से उनको पढ़ पाएँगे, प्रेमचंद की रचनाओं के भी प्रामाणिक पाठ एक बार फिर से देख पाएँगे। नीचे पूरी खबर पढ़िए-

मनुष्य हमेशा से विपरीत से विपरीत परिस्थिति में भी भविष्य की पीढ़ी के लिए अतीत और वर्तमान के सुंदर और सार्थक को संरक्षित करने का काम नहीं भूलता. राजकमल प्रकाशन समूह ने कोविड-19 के इस मुश्किल दौर में भी किताबों की दुनिया में विरासत के संरक्षण का ऐसा ही एक उल्लेखनीय काम किया है.
31 जुलाई हिंदी-उर्दू की दुनिया में एक बहुत ख़ास तारीख़ है। आज के दिन 140 साल पहले प्रेमचंद का जन्म हुआ था। यह सर्वविदित है कि प्रेमचन्द ने ‘हंस’ नाम की एक पत्रिका शुरू की थी, जिसका पहला अंक मार्च 1930 में निकला था. जिसका ध्येय था “आज़ादी की जंग में योग देना” और “साहित्य और समाज में गुणों का परिचय” देना. अक्टूबर 1935 से हंस का एक और ध्येय निश्चित किया गया—“प्रांतीय भाषाओं के साहित्य में समन्वय.” इस नई शुरुआत को महात्मा गांधी ने “हिंदुस्तान भर में अनोखा प्रयत्न” बताया था. इस ‘हंस’ पत्रिका को प्रेमचन्द के जीवनीकार मदन गोपाल ने उनका तीसरा बेटा भी बताया है. यह कोई आश्चर्य की बात नहीं थी कि जब प्रेमचन्द के छोटे यानी दूसरे बेटे अमृतराय ने 1948 में अपने प्रकाशन की शुरुआत की तो उसका नाम रखा—हंस प्रकाशन. और उसके जरिये उन्होंने भरसक उन आदर्शों और हिन्दुस्तानी ज़बान को आगे बढ़ाने की कोशिश की जो पत्रिका के जरिये पहले से हो रहा था.
आज 72 वर्षों बाद प्रेमचन्द की 140 वीं जयंती के दिन हंस प्रकाशन हिंदी के सबसे बड़े प्रकाशन समूह—राजकमल प्रकाशन समूह—में शामिल हो गया है. ज्ञात हो कि राजकमल प्रकाशन की स्थापना 1947 में हुई थी और इन दोनों प्रकाशनों की प्रकाशन-नीति की बुनियाद प्रगतिशीलता ही रही है. ऐसे में यह ख़बर हिन्दी के प्रबुद्ध समाज के लिए ख़ुशी और सुकून की ख़बर है कि एक महान विरासत वाला प्रकाशन इतिहास का एक विगत अध्याय बनते-बनते पुन: भविष्य के रास्ते पर लौट आया है.
प्रगतिशील साहित्यकारों में एक प्रमुख नाम अमृतराय ने हंस प्रकाशन से प्रेमचंद के संपूर्ण साहित्य के प्रकाशन के साथ-साथ सुभद्रा कुमारी चौहान (समग्र लेखन), कृश्न चंदर, पाकिस्तान के मशहूर नाटककार इम्तियाज़ अली ‘ताज’ (बेहद लोकप्रिय कृति ‘चचा छक्कन’), गिरिजाकुमार माथुर, केदारनाथ सिंह, सुधा चौहान जैसे लेखकों के साथ ही शेक्सपियर, हार्वर्ड फ़ास्ट, जॉन रीड, जूलियस फ़्यूचिक और बर्तोल्त ब्रेख़्त की महत्वपूर्ण कृतियों के सुंदर अनुवाद भी प्रकाशित किये. बाद के दिनों में अरुंधति रॉय की भी एक किताब आलोक राय के अनुवाद में यहाँ से प्रकाशित हुई. लगभग 4 दशकों तक अमृतराय और उनकी पत्नी सुधा चौहान ने हंस प्रकाशन का कार्यभार बखूबी निभाया और बाल साहित्य को भी प्रमुखता दी. यह भी एक संयोग है कि इस महत्वपूर्ण विलय के 15 दिनों बाद ही अमृतराय का जन्मशती वर्ष शुरू हो रहा है.
हंस प्रकाशन के राजकमल प्रकाशन समहू में विलय की घटना पर अमृतराय के सुपुत्र और विद्वान आलोचक-लेखक आलोक राय ने कहा कि “सन 1948 में जब अमृतराय ने हंस प्रकाशन की स्थापना की तो उनकी उम्र कुल सत्ताइस थी। रगों में आंदोलन की गर्मी थी, आँखों में इंक़लाब का सपना था। हाँ, व्यावसायिकता की थोड़ी कमी जरूर थी, सो उसकी पूर्ति प्रेमचंद के कॉपीराइट ने की। और यूँ, कोई चालीस-पचास साल में, हंस प्रकाशन ने अपनी एक पहचान बना ली। प्रामाणिक पाठ, दाम सामान्य पाठकोचित। 1986 में एक धक्का ज़रूर लगा, लेकिन फिर भी दस साल तक, मेरे माँ-बाप ने हंस प्रकाशन को चलाया—लेकिन उनका ये स्पष्ट मत था कि इसको चलाना हमारे बस का नहीं, सो ठीक ही समझा था…उनके जाने के बाद कई साल व्यवसाय ढलान पर था। पुराने लोगों के सहारे चलता रहा—महेन्द्र पाल सिंह, ननकू लाल पाल—फिर एक-एक कर वो भी नहीं रहे। अब संयोग से, श्री अशोक महेश्वरी के सहयोग से, और राजकमल प्रकाशन समूह में शामिल होकर, उम्मीद यही है कि हम हंस प्रकाशन को इस नए संस्करण में जीवित रख सकेंगे, और फिर से फलते-फूलते देखेंगे।“
राजकमल प्रकाशन समूह के अध्यक्ष एवं प्रबंध निदेशक अशोक महेश्वरी का कहना है, “हाल के वर्षों में हमने हिंदी प्रकाशनों की विविधतापूर्ण विरासत को सहेजने की दिशा में कुछ ठोस कदम उठाए हैं. यह विलय उसी दिशा में बढ़ा एक और महत्वपूर्ण कदम है. समानधर्मा प्रकाशनों का संरक्षण बहुत सारी महत्वपूर्ण कृतियों को भावी पीढ़ी के लिए उपलब्ध कराने का उद्यम तो है ही, साथ ही यह उन गुणग्राही प्रकाशकों के कार्यों का सम्मान भी है जिन्होंने अपने समय के विशिष्ट लेखन को चिन्हित और प्रकाशित किया. यह कई लेखकों की पाठक-समाज में पुन:वापसी का समय है. प्रेमचन्द की रचनाएँ जब 1986 में कॉपीराईट फ्री हुईं तो उनकी कहानियों और सुप्रसिद्ध उपन्यासों को छापने के लिए बहुतेरे प्रकाशन आगे आए. लेकिन प्रेमचन्द के वैचारिक लेखन को कितने लोगों ने प्रकाशित किया, यह भी देखने की बात है. हंस प्रकाशन के जरिये अब वह सब पुन: प्रकाशित हो सकेगा, यह अभी के समय में बहुत जरूरी है. अमृतराय द्वारा स्थापित हंस प्रकाशन के राजमकमल प्रकाशन समूह में शामिल होने पर हमें गर्व है. हम आलोक राय जी के इस सुचिंतित निर्णय और भरोसे का सम्मान करते हैं. ऐसे अवसर हमें अपने लेखकों और पाठकों के प्रति और अधिक जिम्मेदारी का अहसास कराते हैं.”
राजकमल प्रकाशन समूह के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी आमोद महेश्वरी ने आगे की योजना के बारे में कहा कि बाजार में ‘गोदान’ के कई तरह के पाठ देखने को मिलते हैं। इनमें से अधिकांश पाठ अशुद्ध और अप्रामाणिक हैं. यह दुख की बात है कि हिन्दी साहित्य में ऐसी सर्वकालिक महान कृति ‘गोदान’ का ग़लत पाठ पाठकों को पढ़ने को मिल रहा है। हंस प्रकाशन ने ही सबसे पहले ‘गोदान’ का मूल और शुद्ध पाठ हिंदी में प्रकाशित किया था। इसे सुसम्पादित करने का काम अमृतराय जी ने किया था. अब अमृतराय जी के जन्मशती वर्ष में यह जल्द ही पुनःप्रकाशित होगा. प्रेमचन्द जी और अमृतराय जी दोनों के प्रति यही सच्ची श्रद्धांजलि होगी. हमें विश्वास है कि पाठक हमारे साथ हमारी कोशिशों में हमेशा शामिल हैं।“
