आज 10 जुलाई है. भिखारी ठाकुर (मल्लिकजी) की पुण्यतिथि का दिन. 50वीं पुण्यतिथि. मान्यता है कि ऐसे सेल्फमेड आइकॉन की जयंती की तरह या कुछ अर्थों में कहें तो उससे ज्यादा महत्व पुण्यतिथि के दिन का होता है. भिखारी ठाकुर जैसे लोग जिस दिन दुनिया में आते हैं, उनके पास कुछ नहीं होता. न घर में वह माहौल, न कहीं से कोई मेंटरिंग, न सुविधा—साधन—संसाधन और ना ही मार्गदर्शन या घर—परिवार—समाज का सहयोग कि वह उन्हें कुछ मंजिलों के बारे में बतायें, उसके रास्ते बतायें और फिर राह के रहबर बन मंजिल तक पहुंचने—पहुंचाने में मदद करें. ऐसे लोग खुद से ही अपनी नियति लिखते हैं. जब आते हैं दुनिया में कुछ नहीं होता, जिस दिन विदा होते हैं, उस दिन एक पगडंडी, चौड़ा रास्ता छोड़ जाते हैं, जिस पर चलकर आगे की पीढ़ियां युगों—युगों तक सफर करती हैं, मंजिल को पाती हैं. भिखारी ठाकुर वैसे ही पाथब्रेकर—पाथमेकर सेल्फमेड कलाकार—रचनाकार थे.
पिछले करीब चार—पांच दशकों में भोजपुरी के जिस एक कलाकार या रचनाकार पर सबसे अधिक काम हुए हैं, वे भिखारी ठाकुर ही हैं. हालांकि भिखारी ठाकुर पर उनके रहते भी काम हो रहे थे. उनके नाटकों का लगातार प्रदर्शन, उनकी रचनाओं का संकलन, उनकी जीवनी का प्रकाशन, उनके गीतों का गायन, उन पर डोक्यूमेंट्री,फिल्म आदि का निर्माण. सभा,सेमिनार,विमर्श आदि तो नियमित होते ही हैं. एमफिल,पीएचडी आदि की पढ़ाई उनको केंद्र में रखकर भी खूब हुई है. पर, इन सबका असर अब तक वहां नहीं पहुंचा है, जहां पहुंचने या पहुंचाने की दरकार सबसे ज्यादा है. यानी अकादमीक जगत में जितनी बातें या जितना काम भिखारी ठाकुर पर हुआ है या हो रहा है, उसी पहुंच अब तक नयी पीढ़ी तक पहुंच नहीं बन सकी है.
भिखारी ठाकुर के नाम से कोई अपरिचित हो, ऐसा नहीं. पर, भिखारी ठाकुर क्या थे,क्यों मशहूर, क्यों युगनायक, हिंदीपट्टी के इतने महत्वपूर्ण सांस्कृतिक नायक, ये नहीं बता पाते. इसलिए कई बार लगता है कि अब इस चर्चा—परिचर्चा,अध्ययन—अध्यापन की धारा को थोड़ा बदल भी देना चाहिए. उलटी दिशा में कोशिश करनी चाहिए. अब स्कूल से भिखारी ठाकुर को बताना शुरू करना चाहिए. स्कूल के बच्चे भिखारी ठाकुर को मोटे तौर पर जानेंगे और क्रमश: आगे उनके विराट व्यक्तित्व और कृतित्व को जानते जाएंगे तो फिर उनके जानने का फलाफल भी ठीक निकलेगा.
आज के समय में लोकभाषाओं को लेकर एक अजीब किस्म का भाव रहता है नयी पीढ़ी के मन में. खासकर अपर मिडिल क्लास के बच्चों के मन में. इसमें उनका दोष कम, अभिभावकों का ज्यादा होता है. इसका असर गांव के बच्चों पर भी पड़ता है. वे यह मानते हैं कि अपनी मातृभाषा बोलना, इसके बारे में जानना या इसे साधकर कुछ भी करना जीवन में असंभव है. एक दूसरी चुनौती भी है. अनेक लोग होते हैं, जो अपने जीवन में सफल नहीं होते, उनकी थोड़ी उम्र निकल जाती है तो वे हताशा और निराशा में जीवन गुजारने लगते हैं. उन्हें लगता है कि अब क्या कर सकते हैं, अब तो उम्र इतनी हो गयी. इन दोनों समस्याओं का निदान भिखारी ठाकुर के जीवन को जानने में मिलता है. भिखारी ठाकुर स्कूली या कॉलेजी दुनिया के लिहाज से बहुत पढ़े लिखे नहीं थे. वह तो उम्र के ढाई दशक तक पहुंचने तक अपने पुश्तैनी पेशे में यानी हजाम के काम में लगे थे. उसके बाद उन्होंने तय किया कि उन्हें क्या करना है. फिर वह कला साहित्य की दुनिया में आये. वे हिंदी या अंग्रेजी नहीं जानते थे, तो जो जानते थे, उसे ही अपनाये और आजमाये. उन्होंने अपने गांव,घर,परिवार,समाज की भाषा को ही औजार बनाया. उसके बाद वे क्या बन गये, ये बताने की जरूरत नहीं. बहुत साफ संदेश है कि करने की उम्र नहीं होती, संकल्प चाहिए होता है. किसी भी उम्र में कोई काम शुरू कर उसे मुकाम तक पहुंचाया जा सकता है और अपना मुकाम भी बनाया जा सकता है. भाषा को लेकर हीनता की भावना नहीं रखनी चाहिए. जो भाषा आती है, उसी में संभावनाओं की तलाश कर भविष्य के द्वार खोले जा सकते हैं.
