कल राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की पुण्यतिथि है। आज प्रस्तुत है मराठी के कवि यशवंत मनोहर की कविता ‘बापू’, जिसका मराठी से हिंदी अनुवाद किया है भरत यादव ने- मॉडरेटर

१.
बापू!
…और फिर भी उन्होंने
गोलियांँ दाग़कर आपका खून किया।
इन्सान को मारना आसान होता है
और प्रतिमा का खून करना
उससे भी आसान
और फिर भी उन्होंने
आपकी प्रतिमा का खून किया।
यह बदले की आग डरावनी ही है
बेइन्तेहा।
आपके अहिंसा की हिंसा
कर ही दी है उन्होंने।
अब आपकी किताबों का भी
हो सकता हैं खून।
‘सत्यमेव जयते’ का भी
खून किया है उन्होंने।
अब लोगों के मन में
शान से लहरा रही
आपकी यादों का भी
कर देंगे वे खून।
पूर्वाभ्यास के लिए
‘असत्यमेव जयते’
यह नारा कर दिया है
उन्होंने जनप्रिय।

बापू!
प्राचीन काल से
उजालों में अन्धेरे की मिलावट करनेवाले
झूठ के बांधते जा रहे है मन्दिर
और अब तो
आपके सत्याग्रह को
कूड़े-कचरे में पहुँचा रहे हैं
उद्दंड हो चुके असत्याग्रह।
उस समय आपको
बहुत बार मारना नही आया
इसलिए अब तक
पूरा अन्धेरा ही नाराज है
और अब भी आप हो
ज़िन्दा, इस डर से
अब भी आपको मारा
जा रहा है लगातार।

बापू!
‘सर्व धर्म समभाव’ मानिए
और ‘मत करो नफरत आपस में’
यह कहने की कर दी आपने
गलती,
‘ईश्वर अल्ला तेरो नाम’
ऐसा कहने का
किया आपने गुनाह…
यह इतनी बातें भी
आपको बार बार मारने के लिए
काफी थी,
पर ऐसी ग़लतियों की आपने
चढा दिए मंज़िलों पर मंज़िले।
आपने सजातीय शादी को
किया विरोध,
आपने अस्पृश्यता को किया विरोध
और इस सभी ज़घन्य अपराधों
के कारण बहुत सारी मौतें तैय्यार
हुई आपके नाम
और फ़िक्र नही की कभी
आपने मृत्युओं की।
आप सींचते रहे फ़सल
भाईचारे की…

बापू !
आपको मार दिया गया
आप मरते क्यूंँ नही
इस सवाल से ही
अब उड़ गयी है
उनकी नींद।
सन्निपात में चला जाए
वैसा झुकाव बढ रहा है
उनके मन का और
जुबान का भी।
अब और एक होगा
पेड़ काटने से पहले
वह उसे गांधी कहेंगे
और काटेंगे।
किसी इमारत या
किसी पुल को
गिराने से पहले
गांधी गांधी
ऐसा चिल्लायेंगे
और ढहा देंगे।
…दिन का उन्होंने रात
ऐसा किया हुआ है नामान्तरण।
असहिष्णुता को सहिष्णुता कहकर
स्थापित कर देने का शुरू किया है
काम उन्होंने धड़ल्ले से।
और आपके भी नाम का
भाषान्तर
वे ‘सवाल’ ऐसा ही करते हैं।

बापू !
आपको मारने के बाद भी
वें मार रहे हैं आपको
बार बार।
इसका मतलब एक तो आपको
मरना नही आता
या आपको मारना कैसे,
यह समझ में
नही आ रहा उन के।
…..आपका क्षितिज फैलता
रहा लगातार
आपने तोड़ दी दीवारें
परम्परा से चली आ रही
आपके
इर्द-गिर्द की।
आप लड़ें खुद से
और हरा दिया खुद को
लगातार।
इस हर एक हार से
उग आयी आपकी
एक एक जीत।
इसलिए लगते नही
हाथ आप
मृत्यु के भी।

बापू !
देश की स्वतंत्रता के पहले
आपने कर दिया स्वतंत्र स्वयं को
मन की मर्यादाएंँ तोडी आपने
लगातार।
बापू! मैं नास्तिक!
मैं नही बोलता आप की तरह
धर्म की परिभाषा में
लेकिन आप की ज़िन्दगी का
स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन मुझे भी
कर देता है अन्तर्मुख।
आपको गोलियों से
भूननेवाला आदमी
आपकी निर्भयता के उपर
नही दाग़ सका गोलियां।
यह कविता लिखकर
आपकी निर्भयता ही
बांट रहा हूँ मैं लोगों के बीच।

बापू !
आपने हिला कर रख दिया था
अंग्रेजों को
और उनके आधुनिक शस्त्रों को
पर अंग्रेजों ने नही मारा आपको।
भारत में भी भड़का था तूफ़ान
समाजक्रांति का आमूलाग्र।
दहल रहा था आसमान
और वहांँ के भी किसी ने
नही मारा आपको
किंतु आपकी धर्मनिरपेक्षता को
उड़ा दिया गया गांधी गांधी कहकर
गोलियांँ मारकर।
बापू!
आपको मनु ने मार डाला….
